Broch and Catriona hit Vegas for another breathtaking adventure in book four of the delightful Kilty romantic suspense series by USA Today and Wall Street Journal best-selling author Amy Vansant. When one of Parasol Pictures’ assets gets himself into gambling trouble, Broch and Catriona are dispatched to Las Vegas to pay the debt — only to find it needs to be worked off. To fulfill the debt, … worked off. To fulfill the debt, they’ll battle a mad Russian with an unhealthy interest in Catriona’s kickboxing skills…
When Broch is left for dead and Catriona taken, it’s a race against time to reunite before the Russian’s plans come to their twisted conclusion.
Back in Hollywood, Catriona’s recently returned time-traveling father has his eyes on her adoptive father, Sean. When Sean discovers Rune possess powers he never imagined, it will take an old and unusual friend to set things straight.
Fans of Janet Evanovich, J.D. Robb and Angie Fox will delight to find a series that provides an unique, perfect blending of thrills and humor with a splash of romance and fantasy.
* There is a partial cliff-hanger – each book can stand alone and is also part of a larger story arc that continues through the series.

I love this series. And honestly, I’m not sure at this point the series could disappoint me. There are riotously funny moments throughout that had me snorting in a most unladylike fashion. Don’t be fooled though. The cleverness of the plot threads and the interweaving of different genres makes this book (and series) much more than a laugh. It is addictive, fun, and intelligent. The best kind of entertainment I can ask for, really!
Catriona and Brochan (and his skirt…errr kilt) are off on another adventure. A quick trip to Vegas to rescue an actor in debt turns into much more than they thought. One mystery leads to another, who are the good guys and bad guys. In the end Broch had to put on the skirt, errr kilt, to be in style to rescue Catriona and company. The reference to the previous book when Broch tried to imitate Magic Mike got me laughing all over again. The book gives more insight to Broch’s previous life by going back in time showing more of Broch’s past and how it relates to the present. Lots of twist and turns in this book and few questions to be answered in the next. Not a cliffhanger, but a few unanswered questions that I can’t wait to find an answer too.
Love Broch, his accent and his humor. The series has a fascinating and unique story line. There was a bit much violence in this one but still very good.
I haven’t finished this book yet, but it’s very engaging and light reading! There have been several times that the dialogue made me laugh out loud!
I never thought I would like time-travel books, but…. each book in this series makes me laugh more and keeps me interested longer. This 4th book is no exception. I just love the Broch and Catriona relationship.
Great book, well written. Number 4 in a series ,can be a standalone but helpful to have read the whole series.
Butt kicking- and Broch kicking – adventure, kidnap, and sibling rivalry taken to new dimensions.
the good the bad and the just plain crazy – throw in a kilt or two, a clueless or sloppy star or two, and evil doers from across time and space, and its all a bit mad – and lots of mad fun reading!
Now Brochan and Catriona get involved with organized crime to try to save a new studio star, while also dealing with her Catriona’s crazed father. I found this to be the most suspenseful of the series.
Come Again?
Amy Vansant writes funny thrillers. Meaning, although there is a distinct noir feel to the story, her sense of humor bubbles up effortlessly and effervescently through the action. However, she can do serious, and the first chapter of this book is . . . disturbing. Fortunately the first few words of chapter two help dispel the unease a bit, but one understands there is a dark side to this tale of time-traveling Scots. In fact, be aware that some of the scenes are exceedingly violent, potentially worrying, and intense. Oh, also there is romance–yeah, this book has it all!
Kilty as Sin – I couldn’t wait to read it. I read the first three in the series and definitely wanted more.
Catriona and Brochan are the two main characters, along with Catriona’s adoptive father Sean and Sean’s right hand man, Luther; all well developed personalities and likable. The banter is quick and witty – laugh out loud funny.
There is mystery, suspense, and some of the best thought out choreographed scenes that I’ve read in a while. That’s very difficult to do for any writer, but this writer really brought words to life.
There is time travel – but just a touch that really makes this story very interesting. There are Vegas mobsters, a really unlikable sister, a disturbed father, and a couple of side kooks that add to the plot. Best of all there is a sweet romance wrapped up into one intriguing story.
Fun, entertaining, and consuming. The Kilty series is a must read.
This is a stand alone, but I’d recommend starting from the beginning with Kilty as Charged – Kilty Conscience – Kilty Mind.
3 stars
I purchased a copy of the murder mystery novel Kilty as Sin: Kilty Series book 4 by Amy Vasant and this review was given freely.
A dramatic but confusing beginning with multiple seemingly unrelated evil storylines and of course time travel offset by the humor provided by Broch and Catriona bickering about their relationship and Broch’s quirky ways. While in the modern day, Catriona nd Fiona’s evil father Rune arrives, multiple people try to mame, mutilate, and kill Catriona, Broch, Sean and various other people; Sean is sent back in time to Scotland on the day his wife was killed. Although interesting and action packed with a few time traveling surprises, this novel was way to violent for me.
