I really enjoyed this book! I couldn’t put it down, and I couldn’t wait to get back to it!
Meant for each other!
‘Kilted at the Altar’ is another quick and fun Scottish adventure, written by Anna Markland! This talented lady has done her magic again! I’m never disappointed with her! Her 1st novella, in this wonderful series ‘Clash of the Tartans’, was a real delight to read. This time, we follow Darroch and Isabel’s journey along with Kyla, his daughter.
Two clans, MacKeegans and MacRains are feuding and they need a marriage of convenience to bring back peace and harmony. Darroch and Isabel are promised to each other and are waiting at the altar to be united, however, a misunderstanding disrupts their celebration. Who jilted whom? What really happened?
Lots of perhaps!! Against all odds, they will finally be reunited because they were meant for each other!
A prospective bride is left jilted at the altar, embarrassed in front of her family and friends. In the Scottish highlands, her prospective bridegroom is also left at jilted at the altar, embarrassed in front of family and friends. The two were to have been wed in an effort to bring peace by joining two clans. Whose treachery led to the lack of a wedding and increased conflict? Although the plot is fairly predictable, the book is well written the the charcters are endearing.
Enjoyable story but didn’t think it was a logical reaction between people who both missed their wedding. Still liked the book.
Not sure I’d call it “rip roaring” but it was written with some humor to it.
Started out not liking this book then, when I was about to give up on it, it grabbed my attention. Definitely a good read.
I loved this story! I wanted more- I could easily write additional stories with several characters from this book! The characters development was delightful!
Loved it
I really enjoyed this book. Definitely different from the normal romances. Very entertaining.
I like this book. It’s an easy read and happily ever after. Both strong characters find their way to each. A more realistic read for the times.
Good read
Kilted At The Altar by Anna Markland is a fantastic Highlander book. Ms. Markland has given us a book that is well-written and loaded with amazing characters. I love the characters in this story. Darroch has been jilted at the altar. Isabel has been jilted at the altar. Their story is packed with drama, action, humor and sizzle. I enjoyed every page of this book and look forward to my next book by Anna Markland. Kilted At The Altar is book 2 of the Clash of the Tartans Series but can easily be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
I love the story of Darroch and Isabel. the story has just the right amount of sexual tension without being overt and bawdy. Adding the daughter makes it just better as a “this could be real” story. I love the suspense and the “anger” of both parties of being jilted. this is a great book
I have always loved Anna Markland’s books because of the way she writes about life, frustration, the importance of forgiveness and learning how to analyze a situation before taking action. She fills her stories with so many “teachable moments” and with so much real emotion that you can easily understand and identify with her characters. She always provides a touch of humor to balance out any mystery and drama in the story and hopefully invoke insight. There are always life lessons one can learn from the characters experiences and reactions. This book is filled with love, romance, and drama, even the sexual scenes are all very tastefully done. Kilted at the Alter is book two of a new and exciting series which pulled me in from the start and I didn’t want to put it down until I finished. Don’t miss this fabulous new series if you love brawny Highlanders, wise, spunky women, and a myriad of other complex and detailed characters, two of my favorites being little Kyla and Fanny. I can’t wait to read the next one!
Isabel MacRain is furious about being left at the altar, but even more she is worried about her stepmother’s ideas. Her uncle persuades her to lie low until they can find a solution.
Darroch MacKeegan has been humiliated in front of his clan. He must also now go and disappoint the person who means the most to him. The insult cannot go unavenged.
Our hero has a very difficult relationship with his father, the Laird because of his stubbornness.
Our heroine is being pushed further away from her father by his scheming wife and her son.
It was really interesting in this story to learn about the lives of the crofters. Our characters are so realistic it’s easy to get involved in their lives. The simple love of “Blue” made an incredible and very believable change to one life in particular. An emotional, exciting and at times funny trip into the Scottish islands. I loved every page, as usual from this author.
This is part of a series but each book can be read separately.
An entertaining read. The characters were interesting.

Entertaining historical romance, enjoyable and romantic reading with some humor.
I enjoyed this book, had good characters and story line. Devious characters and good ones as well. Kept my interest throughout.
Kind of predictable.
