I loved this story filled with vengeance, love, misunderstanding, brave lasses and a brawn Highlander. Mystery, danger and suspense brought this story full circle. Fast paced and extremely well written. A must read! While, book 2, it can be read as a stand alone. Highly recommended!

This is a delightful story of two people, Isabel and Darroch, who as members of two rival clans are betrothed and expected to be married. But even the “best laid plans”…, as the saying goes, can go awry. The wedding is where the plot goes off the rails onto an entertaining and intrigue filled path that is just great fun for a Scottish historical romance.
Isabel and Dorroch each plot their own course of action ofter the “ wedding “ and the two are faced with obstacles of their own, danger to face together, and a powerful attraction to each other. This tale has a number of colorful and interesting characters, humorous dialogue, and descriptions of settings in a time and place so vividly portrayed it makes the reader ‘see’ the scenery in their head. The author also took time after the epilogue to add some background on her inspiration for the book and some historical information on the surrounding area and events of that time.
All in all I thoroughly enjoyed this book and would highly recommend it for lovers of good historical romance with heat.
I read this as an arc which affected my review in no way at all.
Truly an enjoyable story. Darroch MacKeegan vows revenge when his intended bride, Isabel MacRain, fails to show up for a marriage arranged to settle the long feud between their clans. Isabel’s father lays waste to MacKeegan lands in retaliation for Darroch jilting his daughter. Darroch and Isabel both have to overcome what they have been lead to believe if they want to make a life together. This was a very enjoyable story to read and I really loved the characters. Anna Markland made me feel the love between Darroch and Isabel. Her writing made Darroch and Isabel come alive and I could feel their sorrows, passion, anger and love. I definitely recommend this book!
