Sarai was only fourteen when her mother uprooted her to live in Mexico with a notorious drug lord. Over time she forgot what it was like to live a normal life, but she never let go of her hope to escape the compound where she has been held for the past nine years.Victor is a cold-blooded assassin who, like Sarai, has known only death and violence since he was a young boy. When Victor arrives at … arrives at the compound to collect details and payment for a hit, Sarai sees him as her only opportunity for escape. But things don’t go as planned and instead of finding transport back to Tucson, she finds herself free from one dangerous man and caught in the clutches of another.
While on the run, Victor strays from his primal nature as he succumbs to his conscience and resolves to help Sarai. As they grow closer, he finds himself willing to risk everything to keep her alive; even his relationship with his devoted brother and liaison, Niklas, who now like everyone else wants Sarai dead.
As Victor and Sarai slowly build a trust, the differences between them seem to lessen, and an unlikely attraction intensifies. But Victor’s brutal skills and experience may not be enough in the end to save her, as the power she unknowingly holds over him may ultimately be what gets her killed.
This is their story…

I liked this but didn’t love it.
I like the premise of this story, bada$$ assassins, what’s not to like right? But, I was not thrilled with the female MC and some of her inconsistent behaviors. Victor, our assassin, is strong, silent and deadly and Sarai sees him as her escape from the drug lord who’s held her captive for 9 years. However, I can best describe her character traits as chaotic and at times distracting for the storyline.
There is a lot of potential to take this series into epic territory, and I am intrigued enough by the other characters and the Order to venture on to book 2, hoping that I will be pleasantly surprised.
This whole series of books: In the Company of Killers is fantastic. This is the 2nd if not the 3rd time that I have read the whole series.
“A broken girl…a cold man…and a bond formed by violence.”
Even though book snobs around the world would be able to provide ample criticism, I can’t help but be addicted to this story. I couldn’t stop reading this book! Killing Sarai is a bold, fast-paced story. The characters are forever scarred; their own childhoods molding them into emotionally numb individuals who no longer respond appropriately to trauma and danger. The characters are written as such that the reader has no shame in rooting for “the bad guy”. This was definitely a guilty pleasure for me and I will read every book that is written in this series.
This book is a veritable thirst qencher for a dark romance lover like me. Had me spellbound from the first chapter to the last, where I was left staring at the last word, somewhat sated, a whole lot craving for more. But to my utter dark joy, I realized that there’s a second book and I get to see more of the cold, enigmatic assassin- Victor Faust.
Redmerski in all her talented glory has written a gritty and grisly thriller which doesn’t pull back ANY. punches.
It hits you hard.
It hits you fast
“Violence and darkness and confinement is so much a part of them that half of them never learn any other way.”
There’s non stop action, bullets fly mercilessly, people are mowed down ruthlessly and monsters unleash fires of hell, wreaking havoc within the pages. Now there’s a lot of gruesomeness in the story, overt and covert, but there’s a lot of pain too. That gives this story a roundedness and meaning. Not everything is written to plain old shock you. it belongs there, it leads somewhere.
While Victor was killing mercilessly, I fell for him…..how did that happen?
When Niklas was ready to kill him, betraying blood, I felt like hugging him..how did that come about?
Sarai is beautifull but painfully complex character. Her normal just shocks and stuns me. The inherent numbness of her personality and her metamorphosising from a bound butterfly to a stinging moth was stunning!!
“Beautiful but defeated and damaged. Damaged for the rest of her life and no amount of emotional mutilation will ever fully give her back her innocence. The girl is a ticking time bomb, a danger to herself and very possibly to others. I wasn’t sure before, but now I know that she is more unstable than I ever could have imagined. And because she is so skilled at hiding it, not only from me but also from herself, she is more dangerous than I am. I am discipline. Sarai is rage.”
It’s because there’s lot of heart in its darkness, a noble mission behind it and even though the end is not HEA, it’s acceptable cause it will lead to more gooey, goodness in the next book
Sarai. Kicked. Major. Ass!
5 stars for Alter Ego Izabel
An intense, enthralling, consuming, refreshing and thrilling read that will leave you emotionally invested and wanting more!
I wasn’t sure about reading this book but I took the risk and I must say it was so GOOD.
It was a tense reading for mer because all the shit the heroine went through. It was well played out. Damn that ending!
This book deserves all these adjectives: Mysterious, Dangerous, Intriguing, Beautiful and Dark. It is a book that is full of twists and turns.
Sarai is a young woman who has expirienced so much in her young life. She was only fourteen when her mother uprooted her to live in Mexico with a notorious Drug Lord. I loved everything about her. She never gave up on hope for something better.
Victor Faust is awesome, he is a cold-blooded assassin. I loved the kind of cold killer he was but also how he started to soften towards Sarai. He’s a merciless killer. Being cold and calculating is an integral part of his job as well as his survival.
This is not a book about redemption or saving each other from a bad faith. This is something more.
Killing Sarai is one of those stories that just clicked with me from the first page. Angst, action, edge of the seat, suspense and a subtly developed romantic story. The is none of that insta-lust nonsense. This book is a fast, adrenaline-spiking, hell-of-a-ride!. F*cking amazing! Complex and fascinating characters.
It is a definite must read. I highly recommend it.
I love it, but I was in chapter 37 reading it for free, and now I can’t find it to finish it
Each time I was called away from this book, I couldn’t wait to get back. Sarai tugged at my heart strings from the moment she was introduced. I could only hope that Victor came to feel the same way about her. And, while well-written, this author would have done well to hire a copy editor. You’re reading along and BOOM you screech to a halt over something like “a bout”. A bout of what I’m yelling at Redmerski? Then I realize it’s supposed to read “about”. Too many instances of this kind. It may sound like nitpicking, but not when it spoils the flow of the story.
I am going to start off by saying that I purchased this book over five years ago. Since then, I have downloaded each book in the series when it released. I hadn’t opened them, until now. I also, haven’t read any of Redmerski’s other books. And I own almost all of her books. I know, I have a problem, and I suck.
Why did I wait so long to start this series? WHY? I have been missing out! If I were adverse to pain, I would punch myself in the face for not starting this series much sooner. Many of my friends have told me time and time again to read it, but I kept putting it off. Needless to say, I am finally in my right mind!
This book… I just can’t! I devoured it. I couldn’t wait to get to the last page, but at the same time, I didn’t want it to end… well, obviously it’s not over… but you get what I mean. I was hooked from the start. I was on the edge of my seat from start to finish.
There is something about a book that is deliciously dark, but not so dark your stomach turns. This book and its characters are so deliciously dark, I can’t see how anyone wouldn’t be sucked in. I can’t find one flaw about the opening to this series.
These characters are everything. I love them! Even when I should, at times, not like them. I just can’t help it. Their good sides and bad sides mesh so well. Their selfishness and selflessness weave together so well. It’s hard to see where each side lies because their intertwine so well to create such rich, complex individuals.
The plot… well duh. It’s delivered so painstakingly well, it’s addicting. The writing of this story fits flawlessly all of the way through. I found myself salivating for more with each turn of the page!
This was an amazing read. It had so many twists and turns. I can’t wait for the next book in this series. I definitely recommend this book, this author and this series.
