Wade is a witch hunter along with younger brother Winston. Both have a curse on them to never be able to love. If they tried to love someone they would kill them in a murderous rage. Caleb is an Empathic witch and former vampire. To say opposites attract is an understatement. These two are on a collision course, but that course leads you on an adventure you will not soon forget. This book has so much happening you can’t help turning one page after the other to the end.
MM urban fantasy, first in series and WOW such a great start to the series. There are so many twists in the story that you are left wondering throughout the story what the truth will be. Easy to read and a page-turner that leaves you ready and willing to immediately dive into the next adventure and see where they go from here!
Killer Heart is a great introduction to a new world and new characters. I was intrigued by Wade and Caleb. Wade is a witch hunter, and Caleb is a witch and former vampire. Through a series of events, they end up working together and falling for each other. That in itself is a problem as Wade believes he has a cursed heart, which will trigger him to kill anybody he feels love for. I enjoyed all of the twists and turns and the reveals that I didn’t see coming. Something happens at the end to make you want to read the next book to find out what happens next. Well, it worked because I need to find out what happens next.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
This is an interesting and intriguing opposites-attract/enemies-to-lovers story. I loved the magic and the contrast between the main characters, one a cursed man who can’t feel and the other an empath who feels too much. There is magic, mystery, murder, action, and some unexpected twists. The only thing that distracted me a little was the number of times people were said to be ‘shouting’ (i.e. ‘he shouted’ instead of ‘he said’). Not a big thing, but it just seemed like things got shouted when that didn’t seem necessary. I would say this book has a soft cliffhanger, This particular story has closure , but something happens at the end to indicate there is more in store for Wade and Caleb. This is a great read, and I am eager for the next book to see what happened.

Caleb and Wade introduce us to a new world. As we go through their meeting, their struggles, and their budding romance we get some great action scenes, an intriguing story and some very steamy moments. With an unexpected twist…or two or three…Killer Heart is hard to put down and oh-so worth it.
This was such a great start to a new series. Rhys sets up the world so well. I really loved the characters, Wade and Caleb and all the others. The scenes were steamy and the connection between the two was amazing. I really loved the unique take on the way spells are used. I really loved this book and I can’t wait to read more of the series. I absolutely recommend this book.
4.5 Stars
This is the second book I’ve read by Rhys Lawless, but I’ve read quite a few by the author’s other pen name (Everly) so I’m familiar with him. By familiar, I mean that I’m a fan. He does both contemporary and fantasy quite well. I’m extremely impressed by his world building skills that is definitely highlighted under this pen name.
As I stated, there is a lot of world building going on n this book. So many details…which make it all the easier to imagine as I’m reading along. The list of characters in this book is incredible. They are well developed and, depending on which side their own, easy to like or hate. Hey, bad guys are necessary and still require the same development.
Lawless is talented in every direction I look in this story. I’m engaged, invested, and becoming addicted. I don’t mind a HFN ending, especially in a series. I will say I’m reading this series with a lot of them already published, so…I may change my mind by the time I reach my last book.
***I received a copy of this book for my reading pleasure. All thoughts and opinions are my own.***
A witch hunter trained to believe all witches are evil and in need of extermination. With a cursed heart that keeps him from ever finding love, and an addiction to magic, because his life wasn’t complicated enough. A former vampire turned witch (yup, that’s a thing) who needs to find out how witch hunters are killing so many witches. Natural enemies with lots and lots of chemistry who find, amidst trying to work together and stay alive, that absolutely nothing is what they thought it was, and very few people they’ve trusted were worthy of that trust. There’s some incredible world building in this novel, and both Caleb and Wade are fascinating, complicated characters. The plot has so many twists and turns you’ll get dizzy following them all, but for all that, it’s a heck of a ride, and well worth it.

AMAZING!!! I absolutely LOVED it!!! I can not wait to read the rest. I hope we see more of Hew and Winston. I loved the story line, the characters, the plot development, the emotional portrayel, the suspense and the plot twist, wow simply amazing and unexpected. I loved everything about this book and the diversity of the characters and creatures all in one. I know that everyone will love it as much as I have. Definately worth the read. Rhys Lawless well done on an amazing book. I can not wait to see what happens next.
I really enjoyed this story about Caleb and Wade. Wade has a cursed heart and is a witch Hunter. Caleb used to be a vampire who is now a witch. This is their story about breaking mind control and taking care of the dhampir who is mind controlling his hunters. I recommend and this is best read in order. Now off to Demon Heart.
I received a copy of this book for my review.
This was a fantastic urban story! Enemy to lover. Wade is a witch hunter in the Blade Force. He’s believes that witches are evil and must be put down. But he meets Caleb a witch who is powerful in his own right. This story had so may twists and turns, but ohh my, so freakin good!! I couldn’t put it down! It does leave us with a HFN. I’m voluntarily reviewing from an advanced copy that I received.
Ok, let’s start this review with a WARNING!!! Don’t read this book unless you have time to read them all!!!!! I read this book in two sittings and was straight onto book two and then book three!!!
I still consider myself a novice at this whole Urban Fantasy/Paranormal Romance genre but I am really enjoying reading them, so much so that they are quickly becoming my favourite reads at the moment! What I really loved about this book was that it was set in London and I could identify with many of the areas, including the tube stations, mentioned.
Rhys Lawless has created a world of witch hunters, witches and nightcrawlers that lives, breathes and exists alongside the humans, all going about their day to day business. There’s so much going on that at times you think you might fall into the book and drown in the words! However, the story is so fast paced and moves around the city so swiftly you hardly have time to breathe, the characters certainly don’t have time to wash although they do find time for other activities!!!!
Although there are definitely two main characters to this book who are both super cute, and will probably die old together in my heart, this is almost certainly going to be more of an ensemble cast of characters as the series progresses. The characters are so entwined that I can’t see how they would break away and become involved with new characters without the initial ones from book one; they already feel like a package deal!
I totally loved this book. It reads so well and whilst it has a cliff hanger ending it really is setting up for the next book and the rest of the series and I just can’t wait.
Totally recommending this to you immediately xx

Witches are bad, or not, mythical beings aren’t a myth, hard to categorise this!
I couldn’t read this fast enough, what a story, with so many twists and turns it’ll make your head spin. Starts with two organisations set to destroy each other, by the end, who knows? Up is down, black is white, I love how the two main characters find their way back to each other despite supposedly being mortal (I use that term loosely) enemies.
I love this world.
For me, this one started a little slow but by the middle of the second chapter I was hooked. Caleb is my hero in this book, he’s been through so much but still seems to have so much to give. Wade makes me laugh with how clueless he is but somehow endearing. If your really into all things fantasy with a hefty dose of mystery mixed liberally with the love, this book is for you.
Romance, action, magic all in one with slow burning heat. Quirky characters that defy norm will surprise you when you least expect. Happy ending with a little glimpse into the next story to come. Surprisingly sweet and entertaining.
I was awed with the worldbuilding in this story! It’s a rich and complex realm that we get to see and experience first hand, with plenty of descriptions and narrative that helps navigate and understand it. It’s a great skill, especially with such variety and amount of details, to still make it about the story first and foremost.
Teh dual POV narration did a great job of showing both sides of the story and the plot twist kept it interesting.
Looking forward to learning, what’s next!
Don’t often read MM paranormal but This one woah! Loved it from the start. Wade and Caleb and the twists and the way the story flows, the world created by the author is brilliant.
i loved everything about this series, loved all the characters in this book i just wish CHRISTINE would stay dead beside that this is a great series can’t wait to read more,i read this book for this author of my own free opinion
Caleb & Wade
Soooo good! Definite sworn enemies, one with a curse on his heart that keeps him from love and the other an empath who is constantly falling for the wrong guy. After a near fatal attack by The witch hunter’s BLADE brothers the two men set on a mission that will allow the two to exchange hearts.
Now as they are on the run to straighten out a mess neither created, and fix themselves before they are destroyed, they each begin to learn perhaps the enemy isn’t the one standing beside them at all, but the one(s) supposed to protect them.
This world is so explosive it is like a living entity. There is so much action, mystery, and thrills you cannot put it down.
The Story is told from both Wade (witch hunter) and Caleb’s (witch) POV, so you get good balance between the characters and what each is experiencing.
There were some familiar faces from novie prequel # .50, Foxy Heart, so that was cool. It added an extra layer of oomph (not that the story really needed it) which is always fun.
There were loads of secrets, twists, and turns, and Oh My GODDESS, by the time the climax kicked in, I was done for. This was a most original tale, and I am thrilled to see what direction The next book goes in. “WHAT A WORLDWHAT A WORLD!”

I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This book is bada**. I was really intrigued by the blurb, because enemies to lovers is one of my favorite tropes, yet I was a bit cautious, not having read anything by this author before. Maybe that’s why I didn’t expect to find the book as thrilling as I did.
So,maybe witches and witch hunters aren’t anything new. But,Rhys Lawless turned an already familiar world into something exciting, changing a few things and adding some original features, all incorporated into a fast flowing and engaging plotline.
I liked the idea of an empath witch who feels too much paired with a witch hunter who can’t fall in love. Yet,despite being sworn enemies, they find themselves inextricably drawn to each other. has Caleb and Wade start off as temporary partners, set on a search for answers that kept me glued to the book. Because every page is a new discovery, a new twist in the story. Wade and Caleb find themselves running for their lives, caught in a dangerous web of betrayal and secrets. Unexpected truths about their history together come to light, explaining their connection and strengthening their feelings.
They barely made it alive and the cool thing is that is just the beginning of their adventures together, with more books to come in the Blade&Dust series. Can’t wait.
