What does it take to save the most important woman in your life? A trip into the the underworld and a promise to do the unthinkable. Twists, turns, and fast paced action will keep the reader wondering what the next page will bring until the very last gut wrenching ending.
When i read the blurb i was all in because i wanted to see how this story unfolds.
Infertility or miscarriage is a difficult topic for every couple and every time i read about it, i am interested to see how the author touches the subject.
It’s a pretty fast-paced read, with characters reliable and that could easily be some of our friends, a heartbreaking story when losing the only person that you love the most in this life makes you go to that extent to be willing to do whatever it takes to save and be with her. The writing was great, but the story itself felt a bit out of touch and my only complain because there’re always a million other options to appeal to before selling your soul to the devil.
Thanks to the publisher, author and NetGalley for my copy.
Gary Foster seems to have it all … his wife is pregnant, business is doing well. What could go wrong?
Sadly, his wife is hospitalized with a brain tumor. It will only cost $200,00 to save her life ..money that he doesn’t have and doesn’t know how to get. And because the treatment is experimental, will it even work?
Someone else comes up with a solution. This anonymous man will give Gary the money he needs … but it comes with conditions. Gary must kill someone, no questions asked. End one life to save another.
So what will he do?
This is a debut crime novel by this author. The story premise sounded promising, but it was rather a slow start. There are some twists and turns with a surprise ending. Not altogether realistic, but that is why they call it fiction.
Many thanks to the author / Berkley Publishing / Netgalley for the digital copy of this crime fiction. Opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.
This book was loaned to me by a friend that I trust in his choice of “must read” books. This one did not fail! I loved it and would say 4 1/2 stars for keeping me entertained and wondering how on earth this would end. What lengths would you go to to save the person that you loved most on earth? Would you kill…or would you die trying? Whew…..! So good!
I love this book! This is an amazing debut novel! I look forward to reading more from Tom when he has more books! But Gary was a jackass. I can’t believe I felt sorry for him. There is a special place in hell for him. Just glad it ended well. Felt sorry for Sarah and Beth though.
Very good. Hard to put down.
