“Sandman Slim is my kind of hero.”—Kim Harrison“Richard Kadrey is a genius.”—Holly BlackSandman Slim is back from Hell. After wreaking unholy havoc in author Richard Kadrey’s resoundingly acclaimed Sandman Slim, the demon-slaying anti-hero and half-angel fugitive from the underworld returns in a brutally funny, eye-poppingly inventive, and totally addicting follow-up, Kill the Dead. If you’re a … follow-up, Kill the Dead. If you’re a fan of Buffy and Jim Butcher, Christopher Moore, Neil Gaiman, and Warren Ellis, or you dig the dark urban fantasy vibe of Charlaine Harris, Kim Harrison, and Simon Green, you’ll cheer Lucifer’s onetime personal assassin as he signs on as his ex-boss’ Hollywood bodyguard…and takes on the zombie apocalypse almost single-handedly.

Teehee – you have got to love an author who thinks to link Homeland Security and angel-hitmen, and throws a vengeance-driven quasi-immortal into the mix… Kill the Dead, the sequel to Sandman Slim is as fast-paced and chock-full of mayhem as the original; Kadrey’s world is a dark one, but it is also surprisingly funny, with artful touches (teehee …
Just as good as the first book
Someone in LA is using zombies to kill people and Stark needs to solve this mystery before it too late.
I love the dark, unapologetic humor of this series. Stark’s anti-hero character is extremely well done. The supporting cast of characters is diverse and interesting. This is the type of book that will cut into …
With the end of Sandman Slim being releases soon, I decided to go back an re-read them. These stand the test of time as I’ve found myself enjoying them all over again. This is one of my must read series. If “bad” language doesn’t bother you, give them a read. You won’t be disappointed.
Sandman Slim is my favorite. Found the first book by accident and have gotten all the rest and loved them.
I LOVE THIS SERIES!
Lucifer hires Stark as his bodyguard. Why would the devil need a bodyguard? Stark is suspicious that the fallen angel Lucifer may be his father, while he fights a zombie army. A movie is being made in Hollywood about Lucifer, sort of like a life story by the people’s souls that he owns. Way more is going on than that. Not …
I love the Sandman Slim series. They are well written and Richard Kadrey always gets me researching something new (Martin Denny and angel names, for instance). Such unique characters and snark! Escapism at its best.
Another hit for me. Not as good as the first book, but well worth a listen. The punchy figurative language, snappy dialog, and kickass world building kept me turning pages. MacLeod Andrews’s narration zapped me right in the lady nads. He’s absolute perfection. His voice for Stark is spot-on, but the other voices are excellent too.
My only beef …
Really different and good fantasy read for adults.
