“I’ve done far worse than what I went to prison for. She has no idea how bad this can get.”WINTERSending him to prison was the worst thing I could’ve done. It didn’t matter that he did the crime or that I wished he was dead. Perhaps I thought I’d have time to disappear before he got out or he’d cool off in jail and be anything but the horror he was.But I was wrong. Three years came and went too … I was wrong. Three years came and went too fast, and now he’s anything but calm. Prison only gave him time to plan.
And while I anticipated his vengeance, I didn’t expect this.
He doesn’t want to make me hurt. He wants to make everything hurt.
DAMON
First thing’s first. Get rid of her daddy. He told them I forced her. He told them his little girl was a victim, but I was a kid, too, and she wanted it just as much as I did.
Step two… Give her, her sister, and her mother nowhere to run and no fuel to escape. The Ashby women are alone now and desperate for a knight in shining armor.
But that’s not what’s coming.
No, it’s time I listened to my father and took control of my future. It’s time I showed them all–my family, her family, my friends–that I will never change and that I have no other ambition than to be the nightmare of their lives.
Starting with her.
She’ll be so scared, she won’t even be safe in her own head by the time I’m done with her. And the best part is I won’t have to break into her home to do it.
As the new man of the house I have all the keys.
*Kill Switch is a romantic suspense suitable for readers 18+. It is advised to read Corrupt (Devil’s Night #1) and Hideaway (Devil’s Night #2) prior to reading this book.

Damon intrigued me right off the bat when I read Corrupt, and later Hideaway. He wasn’t a good guy and I read through most of Kill Switch before I finally started warming up to him. Even getting peaks into his past didn’t convince me. Winter came off as weak, but as the book progressed she proved otherwise. She ended up being a pretty strong opponent in Damon’s games. And man did he play with her. I love that we get all the characters in each book – they mesh well together and Ms. Douglas writes them in without taking away from the MC’s. It’s a great addition to the series and as much as I was looking forward to this one, the sneak peak into Will’s story at the end has me on edge waiting for more.
I love the DEVIL’S NIGHT series so much!! I still feel goosebumps thinking how this series started in CORRUPT, Michael was my favorite male character thus far, and to meet all the horsemen was mind blowing. I have to be honest, I also have been intrigued with Damon (I hated him back in CORRUPT) and was also scared to read his story. I originally really wanted that the third book in the installment, was about Will and not Damon because he was the least that I loved. Pen took her time to write this book and I was worried cause I didn’t know how she will make me love him, I know we all tend to love bad guys but Damon was BAD with capitals letters. And now, I’m here with my mind changed…I love this man with all my heart. He just stole it, broke it and put it back together again, and this can only happen because of the fabulous Pen Douglas’ writing. She’s the one and only that can make this possible, with her flawless writing and her ability to create this amazing world and give us the hints and the answers we were eager to know.
This story was literally a KILL SWITCH for my brain. I have never enjoyed reading a book quite like this. I didn’t devour it right away because I wanted to savor it, each time something from the past happened I went back to CORRUPT or HIDEAWAY (book 1 and 2 in the series) and it was so satisfying getting all the answers to all the questions we had.
My heart still aches for Damon, no one deserved the life he had but the universe is fair and sent him Winter, she was the only one who could mend his pieces and bring him back from darkness. She was the only one to help him create a world within a world, just for them. The love story Damon and Winter have is unique, COMPLETELY original and I just can say that they were born to be together and the fact that they compliment each other makes this story more relatable and unforgettable.
With KILL SWITCH, you get all what we’re used to getting with Pen’s writing, amazing moments, the guys are all back, unexpected events that will blow your mind, and if you’re wonder about that sexy steamy scene, yes we got that too and it’s SUPER HOT.
I don’t want to give you spoilers, I just will let you enjoy this hopefully as much as I did. Pen Douglas is the best of best, this book excelled all my expectations. Expect the unexpected and never ever complain again if she takes long to write a book because the result is just PERFECTION.
At the end of the book, we have a sneak peek of Will’s book, NIGHTFALL, and when I thought we had all of it figured out, Mrs Douglas leaves us with a WTF moment. I really can’t wait for this book, no matter how much time it will take to write, I’ll be here waiting.
4,5 stars
I LOVE THIS SERIES SO MUCH! And KILL SWITCH just excelled all my expectations! The author showed us the present, but also what happened when Damon and Winter were kids and teenagers. We finally know what happened between them and I actually got really surprised at the end of this book ’cause something unexpected happened to me: I started kinda liking this bad boy Torrence.
KILL SWITCH is huge, full of details, but everything was important. I had to let CORRUPT and HIDEAWAY close to me, easy to check, because there were names and things that happened that I didn’t remember that well. So if these 2 books are fresh in your memories you will be fine, if not, you can do like I did.
Although the other characters are here, the focus is completely in Damon and Winter. I loved that we learned what happened in the past with them to understand them in the present. There were one scene from Corrupt that now was told by Damon that made me also rethink about who he really was.
I LOVED how strong Winter was. And that she didn’t let what she lost influence in her love for ballet. That’s one ballerina I wanted to see dancing!
And of course in real life I would run away from a man like that ( all 4 of them actually), but I LOVE when an author can make me change my mind and understand someone that I wouldn’t give a chance if I really met him. Damon is a complicated anti-hero, I felt his pain, his past was really hard to read and, of course is not an excuse, but our past mold us so if he was a normal guy after everything he went through? That would be a miracle ( yep! I’m defending him. Who knew?!).
KILL SWITCH has the same mysterious vibe of CORRUPT. It makes you wonder how far Damon would go, it plays with our minds based in fear but is also so exciting to read. I just loved it. LOVED IT. And I’ll wait like a week to start bothering Penelope about Will’s book.
If you loved the previous books, this one is a little bit more darker but Oh so good. I highly recommend it.
A story that will consume you from start to finish! I lived these words for two incredible days!!! I could not put it down and I did not want it to end!!! I couldn’t read fast enough, yet I wanted to press pause….but I needed to know how it would end.
A past that haunts both of them, earning forgiveness for the ultimate deception as well as the ultimate price that was paid, finding your redemption and ultimately getting the love you deserve. The author did not hold anything back. Your heart will be torn out. Your stomach will be in knots. Yet you won’t be able to stop turning the pages!
This story gave me all the feels. I was wrapped up in these characters and felt their pain. Damon and Winter’s connection was almost otherworldly! It was so beautiful in it’s twisted darkness. Their story was unconventional, yet no less beautiful. Their road was arduous but worth EVERYTHING! The twists, turns, secrets kept me on the edge. I LOVED EVERY SINGLE WORD!
An incredible addition to this series and a TOP READ for me. READ IT!!!
Penelope is a master storyteller and this heart-stopping addition to the Devil’s Night saga is a prime example of that. Kill Switch is dark and spell-bindingly epic. This compelling page-turner is one I won’t soon forget.
“I lowered my voice to a whisper, “that’s what red feels like. Anger and fury and heat and need so strong you’re a fucking animal, Winter. It’s primal.”
I love the Four Horsemen. Kai, Will, Micheal, & Damon made a home in my heart after Corrupt, they’ve been there ever since. I have always stated that Micheal was my favorite but after reading Kill Switch, Damon sure gave him a run for his money. He may not always do the right thing or go about it the right way, but if Damon cares about you, there isn’t anything he won’t do for you.
“I always made her nervous, and I kinda liked it. As if there were a bigger game at play that we’d eventually get to someday, but neither of us knew what it was.”
Winter did kinda tire me out on her back and forth but after finishing this – you get it. She has not had an easy life and she has had people in her life who never do right by her. There isn’t anyone I could come up with that is as perfect for Damon as she is. I get goosebumps when these two are together. These two are electric together and the intensity is off the charts.
“Our life is a series of plans,” She finally said. “Days, weeks, months, years…And then, there are moments. Moments you don’t see coming and you don’t plan, but everything you need, all the things you want to feel, are in that moment.”
This series is phenomenal and I can’t wait for the next book, Night Fall. I don’t know if I’m ready for Will’s story but I do know that I need it. I’m sure he’s journey won’t be easy to read but it will be worth it. This is why I love reading, I find books like Penelope’s Devil’s Night series, and I can’t imagine my life without it.
Kill Switch is book three and the one I have been dying to read. I could not put it down! There were so many twists and turns and secrets. Damon was so dark and twisted but I really found myself loving him in this book. Winter was sweet, strong and amazing. I thought Damon and Winter were perfect for each other. I loved them together. Definitely a must read! Can’t wait to read Will’s book.
4.5 stars What a roller coaster ride! Kill Switch is the 3rd book in this author’s Devil’s Night series and it is Damon’s long anticipated story. As with the previous two books (I highly recommend that you read Corrupt and Hideaway first so as to avoid spoilers and to fully understand Damon), it is a dark romance. I would venture to say that Kill Switch is probably the most intense and darkest of the three.
Damon has always been the darker, crueler horseman, in my opinion, with some kinky needs and desires. To be honest, I wasn’t sure that I would even like him based off of his actions in Corrupt and Hideaway. How could he possibly redeem himself? Damon was a character that I hated in the beginning all while feeling my heart break for him at the same time. As the book progressed and things are revealed, I really felt that this damaged anti-hero was deserving of love and also able to deeply love in his own messed up way.
Winter is a very interesting character. She is a heroine that became blind after an injury as a child where Damon was present. The author did a great job showing that even though she had what many consider to be a disability that she is strong, resilient, feisty, and self-reliant. She is a woman that doesn’t need to be coddled. I can see why Damon felt that gravitational pull towards her.
Kill Switch is a story of revenge, love, and misunderstandings as well as suspense with unexpected twists and turns. The last 20% of the book was intense and shocking while the epilogue was beautiful and lays the groundwork for Will’s story. I really enjoyed this fast-paced book with its unique storyline; interesting and well-developed characters; and the author’s way making you fall in love with an anti-hero that you hate to love. This book is very dark and twisted so if that isn’t your thing, then this book is not for you. If you enjoyed Corrupt and Hideway, then you will enjoy Kill Switch. I received this book for free and I voluntarily leave this review.
Watch out people….”The Horsemen” are back !!
Ever since I’ve read the first book “Corrupt”, I have been intrigued by Damon’s character. I wanted to get a good look inside his head and see what the hell was going on. Out of all the Horsemen…he is definitely the most intriguing one, at least to me he is. For me…Michael is the stoic leader, Kai is the voice of reason and Will is fun and flirty one (though those are usually the most dangerous ones) and Damon…he was always the dark and insane one…isn’t he ??
Now I will try and write this review without any spoilers, which is a bit of a challenge to be honest
Let me start this review by saying that you really have to read the first two books in this series, to understand what the hell is going on. I know Penelope stated that you have to at least read “Corrupt”, but I think skipping “Hideaway” would be a big mistake. You would miss too much of the full picture, to really enjoy this one. So please go back and read all the previous books in this series, if you haven’t yet
Like I said, this book is all about Damon Torrance, and I finally got to have a little peek inside his head and let me tell you…he might be screwed up, but he knows exactly what he wants and what he is doing.
And what he wants right now is Winter… Three years is a very long time and she needs to pay. He doesn’t just want to hurt her though…he wants to take everything from her, including her sanity. Her betrayal was the worst and so she will have to pay the biggest price…
I absolutely loved Damon’s story and Damon himself. The reason he is so hell-bent on revenge, is because he got his feelings hurt…feelings I don’t think, even he knew he had…
That made me love him even more. What can I say… I love the @ssholes and the insane ones, they need to be loved the most 😉
So far this is definitely my favorite in the series so far. Probably because it was also a bit darker than the previous ones. That said, beware that this book does contain some triggers. There are also some scenes that not everyone is gonna like, even though I absolutely loved them
I myself can’t wait for Will’s story. He has always been the fun one, the drunk and flirty one. This book, however, showed me a side of him, I didn’t know he had, and now I want to read his book asap. I have this feeling that his story is gonna blow all the others away !!
I highly recommend this series !!

Review:
I am very thankful that I received a copy to read and review. To prepare myself fully I reread corrupt, and read hideaway to really catch up with everyone.
What is this book about:
This books is about Damon and Winter. As seen in the previous book, Hideaway, Damon is back
And he wants something, he wants to punish the person who led to his imprisonment a few years ago, Winter. He got her in the perfect position, a vulnerable one.
What happened, really happened that faitfull night. How did Damon and Winter get to where they are. And more importantly where will the future take them…
What did i like about it
I liked learning more about Damon. I wondered how Penelope was going to turn him around.
I feel sorry for what he had been through, it’s a terrible thing. Not that it excuses his behaviour, not at all bit being in his head really puts it in his perspective.
There where some very very hot scenes in there. I was hoping to see more of that certain scene, and I expected it to happen near the end but it didn’t. What we got was still hot but I wouldn’t’t have mind it at all to see those two get more involved, those of you who’ve read the book will know what i’m hinting at.
I found winter to be a interesting character. You don’t see many characters with her uhm condition. She got really strong and it was great to see.
While this book didn’t keep me on my toes as much as the first one did, I still liked it allot.
Can’t wait to see Will’s story.
Rating:
4 1/2 I loved it Stars
I do not even know where to begin. I have been waiting for Damon’s story since I first read Corrupt. Don’t get me wrong, I loved Corrupt, and Michael so much, but I just knew Damon would push all our limits. And boy does he! In Kill Switch by Penelope Douglas we get Damon and Winter’s story and it was unexpected and twisted and I devoured every minute of it!
I will start by saying I am a huge fan of Penelope Douglas. I loved her Fall Away series and Bully and Until You are one of my top favorite reads ever. Even so, she blew me away with this story. Damon’s story is a dark one. He is looking for revenge and only Winter will do. He was a very complicated man. He was not a good man, but we learn so much more about him that will have you questioning so much.
I simply devoured this story, though it is a longest by far in the series, I was captivated from the start. But it is also not an easy story. There is a lot of dark suspense, drama and angst and at times, it was very twisted and haunting. Kill Switch by Penelope Douglas is the third book in the Devil’s Night series, and I would recommend reading Corrupt and Hideaway first.
Read and reviewed for Sultry Sirens Book Blog.
Happy reading!
This book will cause sleep deprivation!
I’ve barely slept, I’m functioning at quarter capacity and my brain has been fried.
Penelope Douglas has written a wicked, twisted, powerful and emotionally captivating story. My heart is still pounding and I am stunned.
Damon and Winter…their story is darkly beautiful.
There are no words to adequately describe the true effect this story has had on me.
I love all of Penelope Douglas’ books, each and every one of them but this just jumped into my top 3 Favourites by her with Bully and Punk 57.
I knew Kill Switch was going to be good, but I never anticipated that it would blow my mind. This book is EVERYTHING!! The storyline is creatively written, it’s a page turner that draws you in and it’s a binge worthy read that will have your anxiety level on overload.
Penelope Douglas gave us a small glimpse of Damon and Winter’s story In Corrupt(Devil’s Night #1) and if you think you know it, you have no idea!!! Ms. Douglas did an fantastic job with giving us clarity on that which made Kill Switch an even more meaningful and in depth story. Without giving too much away, I will say that she did an excellent job with Damon’s character development. He’s so ruthless, dangerous and a sexy deviant that I just couldn’t get enough of. And Winter is so easy to fall in love with and her strength is addicting. I loved these two and felt an immediate connection with them. Ms. Douglas also brought the heat when it came to Damon and Winter’s sexual relationship. These two burned up the sheets with their scorching, dirty and oh so naughty sexy times. Seriously, I needed a cigarette and a cold shower after one very thigh clenching scene!!!!
Kill Switch also has a shocking plot twist and revelation that made my jaw drop. I’m still reeling from this five plus star read and it’s goes without saying that I highly recommend it. I already know that Will’s book is going to absolutely gut me and I’m on pins and needles waiting for it.
“My kind of fun has a price.”
Kill Switch completely consumed me!! If I wasn’t reading it I was thinking about it. If I wasn’t thinking about it I was reading it. I love all of Penelope’s books but this one is hands down my favorite. In my opinion, it is her best work to date!! At about the 30% mark…hot damn she had me completely flustered. Actually a few parts had me flustered. The whole book is phenomenal!!
“People assumed I behaved strictly on impulse, when actually, it required quite a bit of strategy being this fucked up.”
DAMON TORRANCE!!! My gawd I’ve been waiting for his story it seems like forever and I was definitely not disappointed one ounce. How could I not fall for this possessive, sexy, damaged bad boy from hell? He is intriguing, captivating and demanding all my attention.
“The only part of me anyone can ever hurt is my heart, and there’s no one on the planet my heart is more out of reach.”
Winter Ashby may only have four senses but not once did I ever consider her handicap. She is smart, strong, brave, and resilient. Her and Damon have a complicated history and if you have been following the series you know neither has had an easy childhood. My heart hurt for both of them.
“Anger. Shame. Fear. Violence. Pain. Sadness. Helplessness.”
Every page was intense and suspenseful but the last 20% had my heart in my throat the entire time. A couple of bombshells are dropped which definitely caught me by surprise. Words cannot express how excited, nervous and desperate I am to see what Penelope has in store for us in Nightfall. On a side note, Rika is a total badass. Five stars is nowhere near enough for Kill Switch. Highest of the highest recommendation for this book and series.
“Fantastical fear and falling. Danger, fury, heat, and need.
So strong you’re a fucking animal.
Black and red.”
