She’s home now and should be safe…but is she…?
With everything going on in the world right now I’ve had more time on my hands so I’ve listened to more audiobooks and consequently have discovered several new authors. Anne Patrick is one of those new-to-me authors. I was intrigued by Kill Shot partly because of the series title, Wounded Heroes, and also because it features a female wounded warrior instead of the stereotypical alpha male in most romantic suspense novels.
A touch on the gritty side, but still well within the normal realm of Christian romantic suspense parameters, I found Kill Shot to be an enjoyable listen in audiobook format. While this is my first Anne Patrick book it won’t be my last. I already have several more on my phone, including books 2 and 3 in the Wounded Heroes series, ready and waiting for me to listen.
If you are looking for a good romantic suspense in audio this might be a good choice. I didn’t really catch any issues with the production or sound quality. The narrator is one of my favorites and was a nice match for the story. I hope she narrates the next books as well. All in all, not a bad way to spend a few hours keeping the mind busy when the hands are otherwise occupied.
(I received a copy of this book from the author/publisher. All opinions are entirely my own.)
Kory and Sean’s story will hook you on the first page. It has suspense, drama, romance, plus a military hero and a handsome sheriff! It will keep you turning the pages to see what happens next.
I received a complimentary copy of the audiobook; I was not required to write a favorable review. All opinions in this review are my own.
Kill Shot
Wounded Heroes, Book One
By: Anne Patrick
Narrated by: Leonor A Woodworth
Just when she thinks she can come home and try to acclimate to civilian life, Kory Wagner finds herself trying to find her sister’s killer. She has been through it all, several tours in the Middle East with a nickname of Cat since she has 9 lives, this soldier should not have to be facing this tragedy. When she finds the private investigator she hires dead, things go from bad to worse. But Sheriff Seth Harding is here to help, and not only with the investigation! Kill Shot is suspenseful, full of twists and turns, and Anne Patrick weaves the perfect web, keeping us on the edge til the very end. Her stories are always amazing, and I love that we never know the answers, keeping us guessing. The characters in this story are extremely realistic. Patrick touches on some difficult topics like PTSD and survivor’s guilt as she lets us in on pain and suffering a veteran may go through after coming home. We take so much for granted! Her basis of faith is always a calming sensation for me as I listen. This is another winner and I am glad to have had the chance to listen.
Leonor A Woodworth is always amazing, but I especially love her narrations of Anne Patrick’s work. She has an expressive voice, and it lets all of the suspense and danger in. Her emotional pull is very real and keeps me invested in the characters and the outcome of the story. I loved it.

Kory while in the military had seen it all, and survived. Her sister was murdered and she wanted answered. She hired a PI and also had a call that someone wanted to buy the warehouse. Both meeting were to be there , upon arriving she found her PI murdered, and someone wants her dead.
She reported the murder to the police and then disappeared into the woods . The sheriff finally located where she was staying, intrigued by someone who could evade the search party. They work together and single to solve crimes. Strong believable characters, it also deals with the issues those Vets returning have to deal with. Excellent series.
