BANTOKKThis human rebel is wild, crazy and violent—and determined to start an intergalactic war. It’s my job to take her, tame her, bend her to the will of the Zalaryns. I’ll be glad when it’s over and I can leave her on some remote planet. She’s a professional thief and a liar—the complete opposite of everything I stand for. But there’s something growing between us that I can’t control. … between us that I can’t control. Something primal. I can’t believe that she’s my bonded mate, because I can barely stand being around her for 2 days, let alone eternity…
LIA
I hate this alien bastard. He thinks he can kidnap me, hold my crew hostage, and tell me what to do. Yeah right.
I didn’t escape years of captivity only to be bossed around by yet another alien.
I’ll follow along and help him, but only because I’m trying to save my sister.
I need his help. That’s it. I don’t need his protection—and I definitely don’t need his dirty promises to come true. Even if I sort of want them to…

Cool story with a badash Princess Lia! I’m not reading this series in order and I’m still loving every one of them. Lia and Bantokk are perfect together, equally awesome at kicking butt. I kind of get tired of all the human bashing, like I’m reliving a hate crime over and over again. Also, Lia as a pirate captain didn’t really jibe with me, her crew seemed sullen and disconnected, almost like they were just humoring her. Outside of that though, the story is tight, with believable characters and an exciting plot line.
Unlike the previous books based on Zalaryn warriors (there is another series aside from the current one by this author which is AMAZING!) this book was a bit low on the hot & heavy sexual tension/magnetism. However this fated pair, Lia and Bantokk, make up for it by adding some unexpected twists and turns.
This book had a ‘hate at first sight’ approach. These two did not feel anything but contempt towards each other. Though there was a slight hint of maybe some possible attraction, it was plain to see from the start that these two were not going to be a sizzling combo.
I enjoyed reading about Lia, and her headstrong approach to life. She doesn’t take no for an answer and doesn’t see shades; its either black or white. And it seems 99% of the time she views life through dark lenses. She has disconnected herself from her home planet and any feelings of comfort she may seek from ‘home’, because after being taken captive by the evil Rulmek, she has hardened her heart, working hard to earn Captain status on her own ship. She only lives to enact revenge on those who took her from her home, and according to her “ruined” her for any type of happiness. Little does she know that the Universe has something completely different installed for her.
In comes Bantokk, a very rude abrasive Zalaryn warrior who is all hard angles. He has orders to see the downfall of a Rulmek ship nearby, however it will require Lia to stand down and be subservient-ish. How these two interact, and fight their way to each other’s heart is the crux of the story. And of course betrayal, makes it all a non-stop action packed book.
When I started reading this story, I could not put it down. I read the book in one day. This author is an awesome writer. I can not wait to read more of their books. Keep up the great work. You should definitely read this book.

This is the second book in this series and does mention some characters from the first book and it ends in a cliffhanger, so reading this series in sequence is advisable. There is lots of action, adventure, tension, enthralling and steamy. It seems to be a well written plot and the characters are likable for the most part. There are some triggers in this series/book such as slavery. It held my interest from start to finish and I really enjoyed reading it.
