New York Times BestsellerIt promises to be a busy week for Hannah Swensen. Not only is she whipping up treats for the chamber of commerce booth at the Tri-County fair, she’s also judging the baking contest; acting as a magician’s assistant for her business partner’s husband; trying to coax Moishe, her previously rapacious feline, to end his hunger strike, and performing her own private carnival … private carnival act by juggling the demands of her mother and sisters.
With so much on her plate, it’s no wonder Hannah finds herself on the midway only moments before the fair closes for the night. After hearing a suspicious thump, she goes snooping–only to discover Willa Sunquist, a student teacher and fellow bake contest judge, dead alongside an upended key lime pie. But who would want to kill Willa and why?
Now Hannah needs to crank up the heat, hoping that Willa’s killer will get rattled and make a mistake. If that happens she intends to be there, even if it means getting on a carnival ride that could very well be her last. . .
“Yummy. . .Fluke has developed a charming supporting cast who all feel like friends by the time the murder is solved. The dozens of tempting recipes Fluke includes are an added treat.” —Publishers Weekly

I’m still #teamnorman
The Tri county fair is in town, and Hannah has been asked to be one of the judges for the dessert contest. With a total of three judges Hannah Willa and Pam. The trio soon becomes two when Hannah finds Willa dead. Willa lived sort of a secret life that no one really knew about. Because of Willa involvement in something that happened in her past it cost her her life today. Of course Hannah tries to figure out who killed Willa when she discovers the secrets Willa has been hiding and it almost cost her her own life.
Hannah still hasn’t picked who she wants to marry. Can you blame her marriage is a big thing. But Norman built her their dream house, takes care of Moishe like he’s his own, and he never backs down when Hannah needs him. I mean come on pick Norman but you do get to see a softer side of Mike in this book which makes it so much more difficult to pick. But….there’s always a but , Ross from Cherry Cheesecake Murder isn’t giving up hope on Hannah.
Nine books in and over only seen one thing repeated and it’s not so much the same but a judge of a baking contest does get murdered again. But for completely different reasons.
Love the characters in this book. I didn’t want to put it down.
Another read read from Joanne Fluke!
I love this series. Light reading and lovable characters.
I think this might be my favorite Hannah Swensen mystery so far. I know a lot of people are annoyed with Hannah’s indecisiveness in regard to her love life, but, truly, the whole series is a bit silly and when I let it just be what it is, her waffling just amuses me. (I mean, come on, they’re pretend characters. It isn’t like they have actual feelings. And they *do* both know the situation and are willing participants.) As for the story line, I enjoyed that the action took place at a fair, which provided the opportunity for some unique details. There were just enough twists to keep me guessing until right before the big reveal. A fun read all around, waiting to find out who killed Willa, what the heck Moishe was obsessed with, what Dolores is up to, and whether or not Hannah would ever get to taste one of Ruby’s decadent treats!
A great mystery with great recipes to use!
3 stars to Joanne Fluke’s Key Lime Pie Murder. The 9th book in the Hannah Swensen series delivers good cozy fun and is a simple, quick and easy read for fans. But I’m getting a bit concerned with the love story Hannah can’t resolve — choose one, Hannah, or abandon them for Ross!
Someone get Hannah a deep fried candy bar, STAT! When the Tri-County Fair comes to town so does the crazy. Hannah signs up to be a bake-off judge but when one of her fellow bake-off judges is found murdered, Hannah sets out to unofficially investigate. With the whole family taking part in the fair, she’s got plenty of help. What she finds is secrets, lies and luscious, deep fried goodness! Head on over to fair grounds, indulge in some fun treats and watch Hannah and family bring down the bad guys.
Great mystery and didn’t want to put the book down. There are wonderful characters that keep you entertained and laughing. Another page turner with a surprise ending. Enjoy the recipes that are included, too.
The Tri-County fair is in full swing and Hannah is acting as judge in the baked goods contest. But when her fellow judge is murdered, Hannah begins digging for clues. It’s always nice to see these characters again. Hannah did get on my nerves when she wouldn’t share clues with the police, however.
Love and have read all of her books.
