Kerrick has decided that he has come to a crossroads in his career. When Navy Seals were true black ops teams, before the world found out about them, they were more autonomous and were able to make the best decisions for their operations. Now he is considering leaving the teams. Before he can make the final decision he is contacted by a guy from his past who talks to him about joining a blacker than black unit.
Amanda is on her way to finding a cure for breast cancer until she is kidnapped and is being forced to explain her research so it can be reproduced. It is Kerrick’s job to find Amanda and take her to safety.
Lots of action with multiple surprises. A very intricate plot with a surprise at the end. I am never bored when I read a Dale Mayer book!

When SEALs get sick of following rules because they hold them back from doing the right thing they either accept it or walk away. However, for a select few there is an alternative – they can join The Mavericks – a covert black ops team that gets the job done (even if they have to break the occasional rule on the way). Widower Kerrick Cassidy is one of those men who are chosen – and his mission is to find and save cancer research scientist Dr Amanda Berg, who has disappeared off the street outside her Paris lab. Can he find her and bring her safely home?
This was a sweet and yet dramatic story of a strong man who does whatever he can to save this strong woman who is not going to be kept a prisoner and stop in her aim to cure breast cancer in the memory of her best friend. There was a lot of twists and turns as they both worked together as a team in order to find out who was behind her kidnap and imprisonment as well as their motivation. Well written and very enjoyable.
Kerrick is the suspense filled first book in Dale Mayer’s new series called The Mavericks.
Having ended his career with the Navy SEALS, Kerrick Cassidy is about to move out of his apartment on the base while still wondering what he will do next. Almost on cue he is contacted by a former service member with an opportunity to run a mission for a secret high level black ops group.
The main difference between this organization and the SEALS is that he will not have teammates on his left and right. The only other boots on the ground assigned to him is Griffin, another SEAL who is looking for a change from the Navy. The rest of his new “team” is always available to help him, but in a much different way from the past. It seems fitting to name this group The Mavericks.
This mission to recover a kidnapped victim is not his first rescue, but Dr. Amanda Berg is nothing like any woman he met before and this is far from a simple abduction. The path to removing the danger to Amanda, a young boy named Brandon and others keeps them on the move and keeps the reader guessing.

This is a wonderful start to a new series, The Mavericks are highly skilled men from different military sections and have been approached to join this secret covert black-ops group.
Kerrick is approached to find a missing doctor, Amanda who no-one has seen for a while. We follow Kerrick as he works his way through the new company and their workings in search of a woman who has captured his interest. Amanda is a strong character, intelligent and incredibly protective of a little boy who she found in the same compound where she’s being held captive.
This is a fast-paced story that is packed with plenty of drama and action. The chemistry between Kerrick and Amanda was instantaneous and sizzling. Highly entertaining, I can’t wait for more alpha characters in this series.

I loved this book. This book was a fantastic way to start the series. The characters were awesome and interacted so great that they had you falling in love with them from the start. Love that the series starts off with a bang. The story line starts out grabbing a hold of you and doesn’t let go till you hit the end. The book has suspense, action and romance. The way Dale explains the background of the characters had me loving them and not wanting the book to end. I really loved how there was a younger character in the book who is one of the main characters. Love, Love, Love this start to the series and look forward to the next book!

The First Book of a New Series!!
Kerrick is the first book in Dale Mayer’s new series The Mavericks, a new line of her extraordinary family of books (SEALs of Honor, Heroes for Hire, SEALs of Steel, K9 Files, and Hathaway House) about current and former Navy SEALs whose SEAL skills save lives and put away bad guys and also fight their own demons as they work to heal broken bodies and spirits. In The Mavericks we meet SEALs who are finding it difficult to accept the rigid military method for solving problems. As Kerrick so aptly described it, he began to question having men whose boots were not on the ground there make decisions about matters they couldn’t possibly comprehend from a long way off. The Mavericks group operates with short-term assignments conducted by two SEALs with boots on the ground and support from a contact behind the scenes via a chat function who provides intel and meets their supplies needs, be they food, weapons, vehicles, or some pretty cool satellite or security videos. The role of the Maverick is to get in, complete the assignment, and get out leaving no evidence of having been there.
In this first book, Kerrick is approached through a text message from another SEAL he knew a long time ago, who offers him an assignment with the assurance that it is a mission similar to one he recently completed, so he has all the skills needed. Kerrick has the choice to accept or not, and he will be asked only to do this one assignment. If he accepts leadership of mission, he will be joined by another SEAL known to him and who will provide back-up now, and then take the lead on the next mission, akin to the “learn one, do one, teach one” process I’ve seen in medical education. On this mission, Griffin joins Kerrick in the rescue of a kidnapped cancer researcher. Very exciting and really cool! When you finish Kerrick’s story, be sure to read Books 2and 3 for Griffin’s and Jax’s missions. They are released on the same day, so don’t make any other plans for at least two days after you get them. You won’t be able to stop reading until you finish the last one. No spoilers here. You have to read them for yourself.

Amanda is kidnapped by her boss as she is working on a cancer cure and they cannot understand her notes. While in captivity she finds that a young boy named Brendan is being held in the building. Kerrick is just out of the Navy and at a crossroads when he is contacted and asked to join a new group that will do the jobs that others cannot do but with the backing of the government. The new group will now be called the Mavericks. He is sent to rescue Amanda and then they set up trying to find out why she was kidnapped and also why Brendan was taken. A good story with enough action to satisfy. Look forward to the next book.

This is book one in The Mavericks series and we start with Kerrick and Amanda. He’s been sent to rescue kidnapped Dr. Amanda Berg, who is thought to have possibly come up with a cure for certain types of cancer. The action and suspense are fantastic. The rescue plans, escape plans and the following adventure are probably a little too detailed but still exciting. The romance is slow building in the background, which is nice for a change. This author definitely knows how to keep the action in the forefront.
I am loving this new series! The characters are fantastic and the story lines are exciting, packed with action, adventure and finally a little romance. I can’t wait to see what’s next!
Kerrick has been a Navy Seal long enough to know he needed more at this point in his life. Once he embraced the regulation of the service especially after losing his wife and daughter to an accident years ago but now at 34 years of age, he was ready for a change. This change was offered by a covert black ops team ready to protect with different rules. The call came from a friend who offered this change and in the course of the conversation Kerrick called him a bit of a maverick. The friend liked the word “Maverick” and it stayed as an ID for this newly forming organization.
So Kerrick accepted this challenge and soon was off to England to save the kidnapped girl—well, woman, Dr. Amanda Berg and also (unknown to Kerrick) the boy she had saved from another cell in the prison. Amanda and Brandon were escaping when Kerrick arrived.
Apparently Amanda had multiple people who might want her kidnapped including her dad’s enemies, the research lab where she worked making great advances in cancer research and her ex-husband who had signed a prenup and got nothing in their divorce. Brandon had issues as well.
So Kerrick was off to find Amanda which was no small task, rescue her and find answers to the kidnapping to keep her safe. There was also the matter of Brandon who was only 10 years old but a member of Mensa as was Amanda. Griffin (a member of “Maverick”) joined Kerrick at the prison for the escape. The banter among these people is absolutely priceless.
There is no lack of adventure in both the escape from prison and the need to survive and the battle to find answers afterwards. I don’t want to say more for fear of giving away too much.
Great start to a new series that I’m ready to follow.
There is plenty of action and intrigue in this exciting new series. Kerrick is tasked with rescuing Amanda who was kidnapped outside her office.
They experience lots of drama in this tense and entertaining story. The characters are likeable and the storyline is full of content. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it.
Kerrick is just getting out of the Navy and is trying to figure out what to do with himself. He gets a message to meet from an old acquaintance who offers him a new job. This job is a black op job that allows him to be his own boss in a sense and has no limits on cash for supplies. Kerrick is tasked with rescuing a scientist named Amanda who has been kidnapped. Sparks fly and danger is everywhere. The book will keep you on your toes and you won’t be able to put it down once your start and it will leave you craving the next book it’s just that good! I volunteered to read this book via Booksprout.
Wow. What a great start to a new series. It’s always a little daunting starting a new series from an author you like and the anticipation going in gets you on edge. I certainly wasn’t disappointed in this first book of the series. Kerrick has left the Navy Seals but isn’t sure what to do until Beta asks him to join, The Mavericks. Sent on a mission to find and rescue Amanda, a scientist who was kidnapped, leaves him wondering who is involved, who are the kidnappers and who he can trust. Lots of intrigue and so much action near enough from the start. I can’t wait to read Griffins story.
This starts a new series by Dale Mayer, which should tell anyone that has read her books that they are in for an experience. Kerrick is adjusting to being part of this new group of heroes when he is sent on a mission to rescue a kidnapped scientist in England. Amanda was snatched leaving work in France and has no idea where she is other than a small room without a bathroom and one crappy meal a day. The adventure these two will go on will draw you in from the first page. I hated putting the book down for any reason! Along for the adventure is a young boy that Amanda rescued right before she was rescued and Kerrick’s backup operative Griffin. Just try to keep up as this group races to find the true villains in this kidnapping and the reality of their motive. Action, suspense, danger, love and a HEA wrapped up in these pages.

Navy SEAL Kerrick was at a crossroads when he was recruited to be part of a covert black ops team. His mission is to rescue Dr. Amanda Berg, a brilliant female biochemist. Other than a partner that would be named later, his only contact would be from a cyber team through a chat box. There would be scant information, but requested resources and transportation would be provided.
Amanda had been snatched off the street by unknown kidnappers. Far from being helpless, Amanda needs to escape and help Brandon, a boy, escape as well. Kerrick will need to use his instincts to keep Amanda and Brandon escape. With Amanda and Brandon’s help, Kerrick will need to determine who is behind their kidnapping and why they were taken.

Book 1 in a new series. Kerrick is a SEAL at the junction of a new adventure, the start of a new division of a special division. Total independence, yet assistance just a phone call, a text away. Working with a fellow SEAL. . Strong men, a caring woman and a rescued child. Many questions to be answered, needing the skills and intelligence of all involved. Wow.. what a great start to a new series. The Mavericks is looking like it will be another series of books I’m going to lose sleep over lol.
Kerrick is feeling like it’s time for a career change. He loves the military, but is starting to question the decisions made by those higher in the corps.
A text message starts him on a new venture, and a rescue mission.
Amanda isn’t some weak in need of a hero type of woman though, and Kerrick is pleasantly surprised by her strength and morals. A member of mensa, Amanda isn’t a shrinking violet, and is proud of being smart.
Let the challenges, and nonstop action begin!
Fantastic story, and I am heading off to continue with book 2 in the series. Well worth 5 stars.. a must read if you enjoy romantic suspense.

First in a brand new series licks off with a story full of suspense and action, complete with a feisty heroine who isn’t just going to sit back and wait for others to rescue her. She is clever and resourceful, not one to be walked over or used by anyone. Kerrick is unsure of his future until he sees a photo. No stopping him going to any lengths needed to help a damsel in distress, what he finds is much more. Twists keep this interesting and there’s some action along the way, it is exciting and a bit mysterious. Great start and I am looking forward to diving into more.
At cross roads in his life, Kerrick takes a new path in his employment life which changes everything for him. When one rescue turns into two, Kerrick is not sure who he can trust. Both Amanda and Brandon are not your everyday run of people who teaches Kerrick life is full of surprises. Running for their lifes, new challenges arise causing this story to be a fast pace story which leaves you wanting more.
