This is another great book written by the awesome Dale Mayer.
Kerrick is recruited to find and rescue Dr. Amanda Berg who was kidnapped outside a specialized center in France and intel said she was somewhere in England.
Amanda escaped her jail but took with her another captive that had used morse code to communicate with her, he was a 10 year old boy.
This book if filled with excitement, intrigue, kidnapping, danger as well as some sparks between Kerrick and Amanda.
Great start to a new series! Love the elite operation and great locations! The team faces danger right from the start when Kerrick and his team mate Griffen are picked to save Dr. Amanda Berg from kidnapping.
They are on a mission to discover why and save her. Great locations and a good mystery facing danger at every turn! Amanda and Kerrick face their feelings head on and work to solve the mystery!

Kerrick has just gotten out of the Navy and the Seals, and at lose ends as what’s next. He get’s a phone call from a friend from the past, wanting to meet up. His friend has a job offer, it’s similar work, but off the grid, no real details, but he’s still the good guy. Amanda is a research scientist, she chose this field, because her best friend, died so young from cancer And now she’s been kidnapped! When she escapes she brigs a young boy, who she communicated with, in morse code. This was an exciting, blood pounding story with lots of twists and turns. Hard to put down once you start!
I was kindly provided this book as an ARC; in exchange for my honest review. This is book 1 of 3 in the new military romance series —The Mavericks.
The Mavericks is a black-ops covert government sanctioned group of special operators. The book revolves around Kerrick & Amanda. (My first impressions of the book is it’s very 007 James Bond like. Specifically, the unique equipment Kerrick is provided upon acceptance of his first job. )
Kerrick is asked to join a new elite group, with more flexibility on missions. Amanda is kidnapped walking to her vehicle after work. Amanda awakens in her ‘prison cell’ & when she realizes a few days later that a young boy is also imprisoned she’s determined to escape.
Kerrick finds Amanda & the child as they’re escaping & assists both. The story evolves, it gets slow and some parts do seem a bit unbelievable, but, hey it’s fiction.
Overall I’d give it 3.5 to 4 stars.

Kerrick, Griffin, and Jax, are the beginning of the Mavericks. Former Seals who have reached that milestone in their lives that they are not sure where they want to go next.
Kerrick has been asked to help with a brilliant researcher, Dr. Berg who has discovered a cure for cancer and is now being hunted by the bad guys. Kerrick’s mission if he decides to accept it is to help Dr. Berg.
Ms. Dale Mayer is a premier author whose talents know no bounds. She can write on any subject and have you enthralled I, seriously have read all but a few of her books and will most likely read those as well. I love all her series. This new series looks to be another super hit for Ms. Mayer.
A great start to a new series by this author that has more action, death and suspense that will keep you flipping the pages. Kerrick is contacted to join an elite group, a group off the books to complete an assignment with little back up. The assignment, rescue Amanda who was kidnapped and is a researcher, researching new cancer cures/treatments with many contacts. Kerrick has little to go by and investigates all angles to find where she is being held and once he does locate her, she has company, a young boy genius, Brandon, who was also being held. Now they all have to evade the kidnappers and stop them before they find Amanda and Brandon.
A great read with some steam, action and suspense and great characters. I enjoyed this read, the fast pace of it and the no drama between the couples. No hiding or running away from their feelings and the way they all work together to get to the end of their ordeal.
This is the first book in a new series and it starts off great. Kerrick isn’t sure he wants to join the new Elite group, but figures he will try one mission. He has to rescue a kidnapped doctor, but of course it is never that easy. He only has one man to help him, Griffin, and that is it. There is lots of action and of course it leaves you guessing. There is chemistry between Kerrick and Amanda and while they are trying to make it out alive, find out who is behind everything they are also trying to figure out how they can make it work with their different lives.

I received a complimentary copy of this book and I also purchased a copy.
This is a great start to a new series. This is a home run. I was glued to my e-reader right from the beginning. Ms. Mayer has a gift of story-telling that completely enchants me. This story is about Kerrick. He is at a cross-roads in his life. His career in the Navy is almost over and he doesn’t know what to do with his skills-set. He receives a mysterious message to meet at a bar close to the base. Kerrick is given an assignment to rescue a kidnapped scientist. The job is mysterious in the fact that Kerrick is given a burner phone and very few details. He will have to learn on the fly. In fact, it is Kerrick who names the black ops group, The Mavericks.
Dr. Amanda Berg is on the cusp of curing cancer. She is kidnapped outside of her lab in Paris, France. She is held hostage with very little food or drink. She suspects the meal is even drugged. She eats enough to keep her mind sharp so she can escape when given the opportunity. Not all into her confinement, she discovers there could be even more people there. She communicates with a young boy that is being held above her in Morse Code. The ten year old is a Mansa just like herself.
The escape and rescue of Amanda and Brandon, the ten year old, is one that had me holding my breath at times. Keeping ahead of the kidnappers while trying to discover the link between the two kidnappings is one that kept me glued to my e-reader.
I adored the dual POV format of this book. Seeing into the characters’ mind really shows where the attraction between the two characters lay, at least in the beginning. Because of the suspense and intrigue there is just so much action going on that the two characters don’t act upon the attraction in the beginning.
There is one sexy scene but it was written in such a manner that it should not offend anyone. That being said though, I would highly recommend this story to anyone who loves intrigue and mystery with their romance.
WooHoo!
A very exciting new series! Secret, stealth, Black Ops, one – two man teams, little to no outside help from anyone means they’re on their own for a very dangerous assignment!
I was excited to jump right into this new and exciting series about an elite operation full of adventure, danger and intrigue, all happening outside the U.S. It will test the mettle of these hand chosen warriors to see if they can handle being lead on a intricate, seemingly impossible, and very dangerous mission.
Kerrick is hand picked to find and rescue scientist, Dr. Amanda Berg, who was kidnaped outside her home in France and taken to an unknown destination. Who, where and why are what Kerrick and his teammate Griffin, need to discover to rescue Dr. Berg before she is gone forever.
I enjoyed the travel involved in this story and the ease in which Kerrick and Griffin are with moving around in foreign cities to find their clues to Amanda’s whereabouts. I love their confidence in their training and abilities to take on the enemy at a moment’s notice despite the danger to their own lives.
A very exciting story filled with adventure, realistic scenarios, danger, and wholesome kinship. This author can whip up the excitement and bring you to your knees in just a few paragraphs! This is a must read for sure and this series promises to be epic!
New military suspense romance series from Dale Mayer, I was so excited and so intrigued, and this first book is totally delivered, from intense actions and suspense to sweet adorable moments.
And in this series is all about black ops, yup no big team and those camaraderie things, this one always a team of two, but that’s what makes everything more intense, it’s like they’re totally alone, definitely make my heart race.
If you’re looking for a suspense read, this is THE BOOK for you.
Hang on to your seatbelts, this is one heck of a new series to read. In true Dale Mayer style, there is never a dull moment. This book combines so many of my favourite things in my romance suspense stories. It was sexy, the characters just jumped off the pages, there is suspense, intrigue and amazing chemistry found in the most unlikely places. Dale Mayer is always an automatic buy for me, and this is one of the best I’ve read by this author. You should definitely give this author a go and definitely this new series too. What you waiting for, go grab today, plus it’s only 99p on amazon at moment. Happy reading!!

This book is the beginning of a new series by Dale Mayer. It is about a new covert black ops group called the Mavericks. This book is an exciting romantic suspense with complex characters and an elaborate plot.
The action begins in the first chapter where we meet Dr. Amanda Berg, a biochemist, who is locked up, alone, in a windowless room having just been kidnapped. Kerrick, a new member of The Mavericks, is sent to find and release her.
The rest of the book follows Amanda and the rest of her group as they try to stay safe and search for her kidnappers.
Amanda is a fantastic role model for the modern woman. She is a brilliant scientist who has dedicated her life to finding a cure for cancer. She is independent, brave and outspoken.
Kerrick is a former SEAL who is brave and very smart. He is also kind, gentle and empathetic to Amanda’s situation. Most of all, he is very respectful and supportive of Amanda’s strengths and capabilities!
I really liked how things are rather mysterious in regards to how and who operates The Mavericks and love how they ended up getting their name. Kerrick is the first one to see how things will work in this new role and it was great to see things unfold and how he slowly learns what assistance he can get and how efficiently he gets into stride. Amanda is wicked smart but had no idea how being smart can cause her to be in danger and you really feel for her as the story in regards to why she was kidnapped unfolds. There is a great mix of sass, mystery, attraction, determination, twists and great characters to keep you hooked and needing book two as soon as you finish this one.
This is the start of a new series, a black ops group just starting out but with plenty of resources. Kerrick is approached by a friend as he is counting down to leaving the SEALs. The mission would be a one and done, with only one other person for backup.
This mission is to find and rescue kidnapped scientist Amanda Berg, she’s been in the news lately for her discoveries in cancer research. Not an easy task since apparently whoever was watching over her lost her trail.
Amanda had woken in a small cell, without a watch she couldn’t determine how much time had past exactly, but she figured about a day. She knew someone would be looking for her, she just hoped they’d hurry. She also heard crying so she wasn’t totally alone in captivity.
As Kerrick methodically follows the steps from the ferry where she was last sighted, Amanda hears morse code, and discovers there’s a young boy being held on the floor above her. Now she’s even more determined to escape and take the boy with her.
Finding what he was looking for, Kerrick makes plans to get in and get Amanda. His backup is a pleasant surprise, Griffin is a former SEAL as well. They’d get this job done. However Amanda has a surprise for both of them.
Now getting rescued appears to be the easy part, the getting totally away is another story entirely. Very interesting thought processes involved all of them including Brandon who has a very useful photographic memory.
Fast paced, action packed, with lots of mysterious connections, plenty of suspense and I fell in love with Kerrick just as much as Amanda does.
I love that Dale is releasing the first three books in this series on the same day, it just confirms that am already hooked on this series.
This is a great start to a new series. Not only do we get Navy SEALs but there is a new covert black ops group that is given more leeway on handling their missions. The members have lots of resources at their fingertips and there are less rules for them to follow.
Kerrick is first up and the mission couldn’t have come at a better time as he is getting ready to leave the Navy. His mission is to find a woman who was kidnapped in France and brought to England. Dr. Amanda Berg is a biochemist who is working on a cure for cancer.
There are many twists and turns in this story as Kerrick tries to follow any leads he can come up with to find Dr. Berg. I loved the complexity in the storyline along with the various characters. I’m looking forward to getting to meet more of the members of this elite group.
This is an action packed story with a strong heroine and protective hero. I can’t wait for the next book in the series.

WOW. This is the start to another series by Dale Mayer and let me tell you that Kerrick is freaking awesome. Packed full of action and alpha males, this is a book you have to rea, hurry and one click it right now, and join this epic story. I need more.
I thought that this was a great read and a perfect start to this new series. You can expect lots of edge of your seat tension, action, drama, danger, adventure, excitement, emotion, mystery, suspense and romance. I liked Kerrick and Amanda. They were both strong, capable characters and I felt that they made a excellent couple. It also didn’t hurt that they had sizzling hot chemistry.
New series and it shoots out of the gate running. Kerrick (and what a cool name) is at a crossroads with his Military career when a old friend (?) reaches out asking for his help and enlisting him in a black ops group. He is to rescue a brilliant research scientist, Amanda. Kerrick has some help from Griffin on the rescue mission and find that Amanda was in the process of rescuing herself as well as another captive, Brandon, a 10 year old boy. Amanda and Brandon are both MENSA. Brandon was hoot and helped relieve some of the tension throughout the book. This book was entertaining, but one you need to read and pay attention with all the twist and turns. It provided suspense, intrigue and romance and definitely lit a spark for this series. I freely volunteer my thoughts and opinions. Thank you for the arc!
