Wow – what an exciting debut to the covert black ops team, The Mavericks, starting with Kerrick! I was completely captivated by this thrilling read that had me on the edge of my seat from the beginning and I wasn’t ready for the book to end when I got to the last page. I loved the instant attraction and undeniable chemistry between biochemist Dr. Amanda Berg who is kidnapped in France and Kerrrick Cassidy tagged by the elite Mavericks group to save her. If you like well crafted military romance, don’t miss “Kerrick”. I received an advance reader copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving my review. I also purchased a copy to read again later.
What a wonderful start to a new series.
We kick off with Kerrick, his decision to leave the Navy SEALS and do something else. He’s done his time and needs to be in charge of his own life.
We had plenty of action and drama as his first mission took to retrieve a kidnapped woman. The big mystery was working out why and what was going on?
This was one fast paced, action packed story and I loved it.
This is exciting action-packed suspense filled romance story.
The story will keep you on the edge of your seats and the characters will captivate you.
The chemistry between the two main characters is smoking hot an off the charts.
There are so many twists and turns to this story you will be riveted until the very last page and leave you begging for more
This story starts off with suspense and just keeps rolling. Kerrick is all business at first but once he’s secured the asset, we see a completely different side of him – warm and sweet. He’s easy to like. Amanda is fascinating and such a badass, I really love her character. She’s determined to save herself and another prisoner so she keeps her cool and manages to set them free.
There’s not much to say without being a spoiler and that would ruin the suspense so I’ll just say that I really enjoyed Kerrick and Amanda’s story and plan to continue the series. I hope to see more of the couple and Brandon as I make my way through the Mavericks.
Nothing like a great hero to rescue a lady in distress!
I enjoy all the Seals book by Dale M.
Good story with interesting characters.
The bedroom scene is short and easy to skip, making this a fun read.
Loved this book. I always wanted to know what was going to happen next. Thank you for this entertaining book.
I really enjoy Dale Mayer books about hunky Navy SEALs. So I was really looking forward to starting a new series of hers The Mavericks. I was surprised that I was not as enthralled with book 1, Kerrick, as I thought I would be. There was the usual suspense but the romance was like it was an afterthought. It left me feeling flat something I am not use to with Dale. Usually I hate for her novels to end. With Kerrick, I just sat there thinking “What just happened?”
As I said the suspense was twisted. A new Black-ops ultra secret organization recruits Kerrick a Navy SEAL fed up with bureaucracy screwing up operations and ready for a change. The mission is to rescue a kidnapped female scientist but the Intel is sketchy at best. As more Intel comes in it becomes clear that all is not as it seems. Sorting through who can be trusted and what is really going on was the kind of mystery I have come to love in Dale Mayer’s novels. It definitely kept me on the edge of my seat, refusing to put the book up until I could see how Dale planned to resolve this quagmire! But somewhere in the middle of all the excitement I began to think wait where is the romance! By this time Ms. Mayer has introduced some sexual tension between her two main characters. Yes the timing of their attraction is always all wrong but the two Can’t seem to help themselves. As the suspense builds in the story, usually so does the relationship. In Kerrick, there is snippets of admiration between Kerrick and the female scientist. None of the usual fireworks are there. Then late in the book there is a a brief interlude and then some hand holding. It is not very well developed at all. Even the epilogue left many issues including the love affair unresolved.
It is unusual for me as a devote Dale Mayer fan to want to quit reading her book. But several times over the 24 hours it took me to read this, I was ready to shelf this novel and try something else. I stuck to it because I am a fan and she has never failed to deliver a splendid tale. Also because I am such a fan I will probably continue to read the series. I have read the synopsis of book 2 Griffin and am interested in the storyline. I am already attracted to Griffin due to his appearance in book 1 Kerrick. So I will see where this goes. But my TBD shelf is very full and this series may be on my wishlist for awhile.
As always, I recommend you read it for yourself and form your own opinion. I always love to read what others think of the books I have read.
I read the entire series and loved every story and how their lives intertwined. Love, loyalty, and lust with plenty of steam and teeth-gritting moments. Couldn’t put any of the books down and didn’t want too!
Really a slow paced book..really didnt hold my intrest
Excellent read
Lots of action, scary good story, good to read.
6 stars. Awesome book. Action and romance.
Fun read.
I enjoyed reading it and it had a good story line
Interesting story with great characters and a suspenseful storyline. Read it in one sitting.
3 stars . This book was a bit disappointing, not as coherent as I’m used to from this author and the chemistry between the heroine and hero was lukewarm at best. It was actually the child, Brandon, that rescued this book in my opinion. I almost stopped reading this book more than once and kind of wish I had but I expected it to get better, which it promised at times but didn’t deliver. It wasn’t bad, just not very good.
Fantastic first book of a new series. Held my interest from page one and a great finish!
