Denver Hollis is a young woman who has had a hard life. She’s fighting to get her life back and nothing ever comes easy. After what feels like a lifetime of bad luck, horrible situations and deadends, she finally comes across someone willing to help her. Just when Denver thinks she is finally living a fairy tale life with people she can trust, the rug gets pulled from under her. Is she destined to be alone with nothing?
Callan Hawk is a strong, fierce, and somewhat bitter lawyer who is set in his ways and has a chip on his shoulder. He seems one minded and focused on his work. He doesn’t have time for relationships nor does he have interest. The man can’t even keep a personal assistant with his bossy and demanding ways. But maybe he just hasn’t had the right one yet. Maybe Denver is the woman to bring him to his knees.
Keeping Denver is different then Sandy and Crystals other books and I’m glad they decided to dive into something new, because I really enjoyed this story. I only wish that there would have been more from Callans point of view, instead of just the few times. I wanted to know more of why he reacted they way he did towards Denver after he first met her. I am really hoping we get a book about Spencer Knight!
What an outstanding read. These two authors never disappoint me no matter the genre. I loved their MC, mafia or now this wonderful contemporary romance. Keeping Denver is a heartwarming tender storyline with times of struggles and heartache.
Denver grew up in the system. Now she’s an adult and due to situations out of her control she finds herself jobless, homeless and flat broke. She is looked down upon due to her appearance and can’t land a job. When a kind old man gives her a tip of an attorney’s assistant’s job opening, Denver cleans up the best she can and goes for an interview.
Here the story takes off. Denver lands the job and finds herself working for the sexy billionaire attorney Callen Hawk. She can’t help but daydream about what it would be like to be with a man like Callen. But Denver is determined to do her best and not let anything or anyone get her in trouble. Which is a little tough since Callen seem to bark at her everyday. But what happens when Callen find out she’s not exactly what she says and that she’s living on the streets? Will her grumpy boss fire her?
This is an amazing read that kept me turning the pages. I highly recommend grabbing up this touching heartfelt story, you won’t be sorry you did. 2 Thumbs Up and 5 Stars.
Extra, extra… The fantastic duo have a new release…
Yep, I sound a bit crazy but who cares… No me, that’s for sure.
This amazing duo is responsible for giving me some of the best books ever and I was super excited to start a new book.
It was not my first read of 2020 because I was reading another book at the moment, but when I got the time it was insane…
Crystal Daniels and Sandy Alvarez are the bombs. These two sisters are freaking good genius behind the best books ever.
Their writing is hard and intense, sweet and spicy, unforgettable and raw. Just grab their books and see for yourself.
Keeping Denver is their latest release and explores the lives of Denver and Callan.
Denver had lost everything. She was homeless, jobless and without money. She was forced to seek refuge in shelters to not spend the night outside. She had applied to so many jobs that she lost count and was turned down from everyone.
When she applied to a personal assistant spot…
So freaking beautiful… This book…
It took my heart out, crushed, then glued it back together. It was insane.
Superb plot, very well written, super engaging and intense.
It was one perfect chapter after the other.
There are things that I never learn… Why the hell did I start this book at 11 pm??
Wanna know what happened?? I stayed up all night because once I started to read it I simply couldn’t put it down. I couldn’t nor did I tried. To be honest.
There were parts of the book that I wanted to hold them and promise better days but then there were others that I just wanted to slap someone so freaking much…
We are presented with some hot stuff around the corner… Jeez…
Let me just say that once I realized that the book had ended I was so mad… Mad because I wanted to keep reading… Why?? Why??
This book explores one subject that everyone tries to not see. Homeless. Everyone can see them on the streets but not many have the heart to help.
You see, there are other ways to help them without money being the key. Sometimes a warm close, a meal or even an opportunity can make the difference.
But life is just like this.
Fantastic book Crystal and Sandy. You girls know how to touch our hearts and our souls.
Another breathtaking book and I can’t wait for more. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
S Wow!
I really enjoyed this story. Denver and Callan are perfect for each other. There’s quite a bit of drama to get through, and he has to grovel big time. Their HEA was so worth it!
I just love this dynamic duo!! I fell in love with Callan and Denver. The struggles Denver has to go through in her life are heart breaking and just when you think she can’t take anymore there are kind hearted people that come to her rescue. She is so strong, never gives up and sees the best in everyone. Then there is Callan. He has made a name for himself despite the hardships especially faced early on. They fight their attraction to each other in the beginning but Callan wars her down in the end. But everyone doesn’t want to see Denver end up with Callan or succeed. Will Denver let hayers and naysayers win? Will Callan stand by her side when petty people interfere? I hope these authors turn this book into a series!! I want to read more about Spencer.
Keeping Denver by Sandy Alvarez and Chrystal Daniels was such an incredible read and a total departure from their previous MC books which everyone MUST read. The sister duo once again has hit it out of the park with an office romance that will draw you in and before you realize your at the end of the book begging for more.
Denver is down on her luck twenty-three year old homeless woman determined to survive, find a job get off the streets and out of the shelter. Knocked down more times than she can count yet she still has the most giving, kind, caring, generous, loving heart and soul. She meets an older man who works at the library that helps her fill out applications on the computer. He also didn’t look at her with disgust like everyone else. After weeks of searching with no luck her new friend at the library Roland told her of a job as a personal assistant for a fancy lawyer. He explained that his grandson works for the lawyer. When she turned down his offer to try because of how she looked and lack of skills he told her this which I absolutely loved :
“You may think you’re not good enough for a lot of things, but trust me child, you are. And don’t let a damn person tell you differently.”
After no luck she decided to call about the job. Her life will never be the same once she walks into that office. She meets a viper (Kelly) who thinks she is better than everyone especially her, she meets an angel (Frances)that wraps her in comfort and a 6 feet 3 inch dark hair gorgeous man that exudes money, power, and sex.
Callan Hawk a powerful divorce attorney that is known for getting his clients big settlements. He has a reputation of being ruthless in the courtroom. He is a sought after bachelor that is known to date beautiful women but not known to have been in a relationship. He is all alpha, yet so caring, generous and loving when it comes to the people closest to him. He has finally found his match when he comes face to face with a tiny 5 foot 2 inch red hair beauty that is his new assistant. He is drawn to her and feels a powerful pull between them. He gives off mixed signals in the office which continues to confuse her. He keeps he late at the office against her protest that she needs to leave early. Only after does he discover the reason in the nick of time. They become closer after that night only for him to devastate her weeks later and change the course of their relationship and lives.
Denver and Callan journey with all the ups, downs to include the struggles, accomplishments, joy, heartbreak, and love and the secondary characters that enriched the storyline was a phenomenal read. I was left wanting more of them and hoping for more books with them or the secondary characters like Spencer.
With the sister duo they always have such a powerful message in their books and this one was no different. Bravo ladies my heart and soul is full.
Five + beautiful uplifting
This story was so much more than a boss and employee romance. It’s about perseverance, determination, love, trust, and creating your own destiny. Despite the obstacles she’s faced, Denver stays strong and keeps fighting for a better tomorrow. Callan has been through a few hard times too and protects himself by keeping people at arm’s length. These two lost, yet independent, souls come together in an explosion of emotions and steam with a few twists along the way. Well done, ladies!!
Simply flawless from beginning to end. Very riveting and intriguing characters with lifelike emotions. I could not wait to turn the page because it was a very original story. Loved the secondary characters and really hope I don’t have to wait for another and hopes it becomes a series. Excellent work going from other mc and mafia series to a new writing genre- shows these ladies write all fabulousness.
I’m a strong believer that books find you, and they get to you at the right time. You know that book you needed in your life but you didn’t realize it until you read it? Well, Keeping Denver is one of those. And I couldn’t have asked for a better story to start the new decade.
This office romance is pure perfection: from its compelling setting and story development to the human side of its main characters. Because if there is one thing I’ve learned from reading Crystal Daniels and Sandy Alvarez’s writing is that they always touch on important and vital subjects. Their stores are connected to real issues, making their stories believable and relatable.
Denver Hollis hasn’t had an easy start in life. At 23, she is homeless and in search of a job that will allow her to do improve her situation. She is not looking for a winning ticket or an all-in-one solution to her problems. She doesn’t blame anyone for her what has happened to her and she is not mad with the world. She takes one day at the time, carrying herself with dignity. What I liked the most about her is that she sees things with such clarity. She really gives a different perspective on being homeless, and it is refreshing and eye-opening. I’ve never read a character like her.
Then we meet Callan Hawk, who is the super alpha, gorgeous and ruthless big NYC lawyer. But there is more to this man that what has been written in the papers and what meets the eye. He becomes protective of Denver almost right away. And despite his bossiness, he does have her best interest at heart. He tries to fight their attraction, but the pull is there and their chemistry is hot and steamy.
In the end, these two characters work because they feel real and stay true to their beliefs. And their road might not be perfect, but whose is it? So, if you want an office romance that will warm your heart and stay with you, read Keeping Denver. It is truly a perfect story.
Sometimes life is just so unfair and cruel and it takes someone really strong to walk it’s path with your head held high, even if you are just barely looking over the gutter. Denver has walked this path, has taken chances that she was afraid to take and in the end, came out stronger than ever. Once she began to accept help from people, she began to flourish, but as life will have it, there are stumbling blocks and when Denver reaches hers, the fall is more painful than she could have imagined.
Callen had an easier start than Denver as he had his mother working hard to give him a good life after his father deserted them, leaving them nothing. Without the help of the judge he had to go in front of in his teens, Callen Hawk would not be the man he is today. He would never have met Denver and their lives would never have intertwined.
I absolutely loved this story, and even the times when I wanted to do bodily harm to a couple of side characters, and Callen himself, I loved the story. I adored Denver and Callen, as well as Spencer, Frances and Richard. One big happy family who have no blood ties, but are family of the heart. These characters were well written and well defined and captured your heart instantly. I loved Ronald, the only person to help Denver when she was looking for a job and didn’t look at her as trash that is to be kept out of sight.
A wonderful, steamy, heartwarming, heartbreaking story that will capture you and keep you spellbound right to the end. I highly recommend this book.
