Kathmandu (Leo Keane International Thriller #1), my first enjoyable mystery/suspense read from author Luke Richardson. Well-written with captivating & intriguing characters. Sometimes a book is just enjoyable, wait no spoilers here, buy the book, read & review the book. “I received a free review copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.” I’ll definitely be reading more from this author. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 – July 24, 2018).
A twisted thriller involving a shy reported whose girl friend is missing takes a job trying to find a rich man’s missing daughter. Plot includes a couple other topics to help hold your interest. I received a free copy from the author in exchange for an honest review.
Omg wasn’t sure if I would sleep last night after I finished this story. Scared me to death. It did however take me a long time to get into it but refused to give up on a book and thankful that I didn’t.
Great story line. Gives food for thought about some of the “shadier” side of humanity. I would recommend everyone read who has never understood how tragic so many lives can be because of situations they have no control over.
Great book, the author captured all the many nuances of Kathmandu. I loved it!
Unpredictable and very original
Kathmandu – a review by Rosemary Kenny
Turn off your phone and cancel your appointments for the next few days, as you won’t want to interrupt your epic journey to the exotic Kathmandu for a moment, once you delve into Luke Richardson’s mighty saga.
Murders, mystery, kidnappings, international skulduggery, the list goes on, in a dual timeline that proves (rather lengthily), that sometimes the underdog will yap and eventually he may just bite!
Get your ticket to ride off into an Asian sunset, to see if Luke Richardson’s ‘Rough Guide’ to Kathmandu leads to an HEA – or not!

I enjoyed the novella and the start of the series Koh Tao and jumped right into the next book to find out more about what was going to happen to Leo. I am glad I did because it was another great adventure. I like Leo as a character he is damaged and haunted by his lose, like most people would be but is also stronger than he thinks. Your are introduced to a number of new characters including Allissa, who I think will be a great addition to the series. This means the story does jump from different perspectives as you are given clues as to want is going on by several characters and to some flashbacks to the time Leo spent with Mya and the reason he is on this adventure. I am not sure what happened would encourage you to travel because you certainly see the seeder side of life but it makes for an interesting story line. The only thing that disappointed me was the ending it just ran out of steam, does it continue onto the next book? I guess I will have to read the next book to find out.
Still struggling to cope with his girlfriends disappearance two years later, Leo is barely coping with everyday life so when he gets fired for something he didn’t do he packs up his desk and says goodbye to the job he loves. When a rich politician stumbles over his website set up to find the missing, he offers to pay for Leo’s trip to Kathmandu to look for his missing daughter. With nothing holding him back and no strength of will power to say no, Leo finds himself well and truly out of his comfort zone. How can be possible find one woman in a country where he doesn’t even speak the language? And if he can’t find her what hope does he have of ever finding his own girlfriend? Allissa the missing daughter is not missing, she is thriving and helping the locals but at the same time leaving behind breadcrumb that Leo can follow. She travelled to get away from her past but is Kathmandu far enough? And just what does the streets of Kathmandu have in store for them? Because someone is following them.
I like the fact that the author is also the narrator. He is enthusiastic enough to keep the story bouncing along nicely.
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
It was easy to get into this story and the characters. If you ever traveled in a country where just about everything is different you will enjoy this story.
Meh!
Good read kept my interest but not enough to try book two.
I liked the setting, but was surprised that the ending was just a come-on for the next in the series.
Good read.
Good story line and well written.
Very fast paced, fairly easy read. Setting his books in sites based on the author’s global travels is unique, and his descriptions do not disappoint.
Star reduction: Just thought the story was interrupted by too many prequel flashbacks (some virtual copy/paste), and the author’s use of UK acronyms in an American market release. Shouldn’t have to look up cryptic material while reading a book for pleasure.
Overall a very good work by a new author. (Introduced by fellow Brit Steven Moore in his newsletter.)
Review of Kathmandu by Luke Richardson
Oh my! I must admit that I thought I might not like this story, but I loved it!
Richardson is a brilliant writer with the marvelous ability to put the reader on the streets, in the restaurants and in the car while traveling treacherous roads. He has described Kathmandu in such a way that I find fascinating and terrifying and yet so intriguing that I want to go to experience it myself.
A wealthy, privileged and unpleasant man has a daughter who was born of a brief liaison with her mother. The daughter, Allissa, has never been able to fully bond with her father, stepmother and half siblings, so once she reached adulthood she began to travel extensively. Upon landing in Kathmandu for what was to be just a few days, she stayed on when she found a purpose for being there.
Leo, an unemployed journalist, is hired by Allissa’s father to find her as she has been gone for two years with little or no word from her regarding her whereabouts. Leo’s information leads him to believe that she is in Kathmandu, so there this most marvelous adventure begins.
If you are a reader who likes adventure and intrigue written in an easy to read manner, then I must recommend this story to you. You will not be disappointed.

Leo is an insecure hero with panic attacks and an obsession to find his missing fiancee and runs an online Missing Persons forum/bureau but loses his job due to the actions of a co-worker. Then he receives an offer he can’t refuse from a very wealthy peer who pays him a lot to go to Nepal to find the man’s adult daughter who disappeared several years ago. Her story is a that of rescuing others to escape her own past, but together she and Leo embark on a real thrill ride that intensifies with each chapter. The story reaches out and handcuffs you to it until it’s done. And then you want the next one.
You can rarely go wrong with the author doing the narration, and Luke does a fine job!
I thought about stopping several times but read to the end. It got nowhere pretty fast.
I did not like the ending. To resolve the lives of the characters, you must read the next book.
Good read
