Intent on prosecuting the thief to the fullest extent of the law, he hires Katerina “Kat” Carter, the best forensic accountant in the business, to follow the money trail. Both are shocked when it leads to Zachary’s father, Nathan.
And he’s just the tip of the iceberg.
Nathan belongs to a shadowy organization with global ties and unimaginable resources. They already control the banking industry and the media, but their ultimate goal – the collapse of the global currency market and a new world order – will soon be within reach.
Kat may be all that stands in their way. But for how long?
The organization learns of her involvement and sends a warning. She knows it will be her last – others who have tried to foil their agenda have met with violent deaths.
If Kat walks away and keeps her mouth shut, she’ll look over her shoulder for the rest of her life in a world she’ll scarcely recognize. Ignoring the threat makes her and everyone she cares about a target… or a potential traitor.
Still, as Kat Carter knows all too well… the greater the risk, the greater the reward.
And there’s no hedging on this bet. It’s all or nothing.

This review is for the audio book.
I really enjoyed this box set. I did think listening to book two might have been a little bit hard (hitting a little bit too close to home) when it first started but I found I was hooked. When I finished one book I was straight onto the next one. I liked the characters and found myself caring about what happened to them.

I liked the narrator and thought she did a great job with all the different characters from young to old that make up this great book.
The Mouse That Roared
This omnibus of the first three Katerina Carter novels introduces us to a forensic accountant who manages to solve crimes using statistics and accounting techniques to catch anomolies–and crooks. Somehow her investigations are as active as “Die Hard” movie! Although each stands alone, enjoying them together like this is even better.

Exit Strategy (Katerina Carter Fraud #1) ~~ Forensic Accounting
Narrator Petrea Burchard always comes through with a complete cast of characters, male and female, to put forth an engaging play. In this she is assisted by author Colleen Cross’ clever tale of terrorism, diamond smuggling, banking, murder, and fraud. I’ve read several of the author’s paranormal tales (crime-solving witches) which were cozies; RCMP involvement (why, yes, this is a Canadian story) introduces more of a procedural bent to this thriller. But it is the antics of our hapless heroine, an accomplished accountant on the edge of bankruptcy, which provide counterpoint to the dastardly deeds of the villains. While of a more serious bent, flashes of humor cannot be suppressed and there is much to be loved as Kat conquers all.

Game Theory (Katerina Carter Fraud #2) ~~ Power Corrupts
Not a “How To,” but certainly a primer on currency trading and the pros and cons of a single global currency! Petrea Burchard voices the characters with her usual flair and author Colleen Cross provides a compelling travelogue (YES I want to visit western Canada!) while setting up a ripped-from-the-headlines tale of conspiracy and global domination.

Blowout (Katerina Carter Fraud #3) ~~ Charisma, Cupidity, and Gullibility
When does a thinking person become a pawn and dupe? Exploring an historic site once run by Brother XII (real historic figure!) is the goal when Katerina, Jase, and her friend Gia encounter an Italian billionaire with a mega-yacht. Keep in mind the “thriller” part of the title as things get . . . interesting! (There is an author afterword delineating history versus imagination.) Her usual charismatic vocal interpretation by narrator Petrea Burchard keeps the action flowing smoothly.
