Karma’s only a bitch if you’re bad. Jake Michelson plays it safe. All he wants is the roof over his head and to graduate from NYU in a few months. He can count on three things in life: his job, his best friend, and school. What he doesn’t count on is the hot guy who walks into his work with an unusual request that turns his life upside down. Archer Ferraro plays by his own rules. That means bad … his own rules. That means bad people don’t get away with doing bad things—not on his watch. He’s dedicated his life to righting wrongs and helping those who can’t help themselves. But good intentions lead to unexpected consequences, and now Archer must make things right.
Archer makes Jake a lucrative offer, and Jake decides to give it a chance. While working closely together, things quickly heat up between them, both physically and emotionally…until an unexpected encounter with an ex of one of Archer’s clients catches them by surprise. Jake fears endangering his safe life, and trusting Jake is a leap of faith for Archer.
Will they both take a chance and risk it all?
This story features a case involving stolen jewelry, off-beat and sexy humor, and a weirdly cool cast of characters, including a lawyer brother and a really awesome BFF with a poison ring.
Low angst. HEA. Trigger warning: Mentions domestic abuse not involving either main character, incarceration, and parental neglect.

Jake and Archer
What an adorkable read. Optimism and positivism are main here.
They are both extremely funny, there are so many delightful humorous moments!
I also love it when there is humor between the sheets, I smiled until it hurt.
Archer is the reason Jake is without a job but also the reason he got a new job already.
A new job where Archer is his boss.
Archer is a bit like Robin Hood, doing sort of illegal things for good causes. First Jake is appealed but when he understands who this funny man really is and what he does for a job, he helps him where he can like the competent computer whiz kid he is.
From the first moment, there is a click between both men. They are the most adorable guys you can think of. In no time they are lip glued.
Besides their blooming cute romance, they have to solve some cases.
We meet feisty friends and family, all very entertaining. These two men together with both being cute, adorable, sexy, lovable, and funny was a delight to read about.
The author did a wonderful job with the dynamic between both men and the balance of seriousness and playfulness in this story.
Humor can be tricky and fast and sometimes be too much but not here oh boy not here, I couldn’t get enough of it.
I loved this narrative immensely!
This was a very unique storyline, and I had no idea what to expect about which way it was going to go, which made it a very interesting book. It had intrigue, unpredictable side characters, humor, dry wit, romance, family drama, and work drama.
You know what they say about life; what goes around, comes around. Karma’s a b*tch, and that b*tch’s name is Archer. It’s a little unorthodox, and may or may not completely be on the up and up, but in the eyes of anything official, he runs an interior design company. He even files taxes. Archer was on a job when he first met Jake. Unfortunately, that meeting didn’t have a good impact on Jake’s life as he soon found himself out of a job. Once Archer discovered what happened, he knew he had to make it right. What he does brings a form of justice, and isn’t supposed to hurt anyone undeserving. After doing some recon on Jake, Archer decides to bring him on board. Jake was a bit of a hard sell, but eventually came on board. It didn’t take long for them to start developing feelings for each other.
I really enjoyed this book. The progression of their relationship was fun to watch. The banter between the two was absolutely delightful. Archer had this natural desire to take care of Jake that was as strong as Jake’s concern for Archer’s well being. The Valentine’s Day dinner was the best thing ever. I don’t want to give anything away, but will strongly encourage you to read it to find out. You won’t be disappointed.
I read this book in less than 8 hours. It was a fun, easy read, and it will have you laughing one moment, grinning like a loon another, and you find yourself swooning a little. Don’t worry, no one will know unless you tell them. I strongly recommend this book. I really believe everyone needs a little Jake and Archer in their lives, and maybe a little Nonna, too.

For most of his adult life, Archer has taken upon himself to fix injustice for those who, for a reason or another, couldn’t be helped by law. During one of his “correctional enterprises”, he involved Jake in the literal mess and unintentionally left him without a job. So, as a way to make amends Archer decided to offer Jake a job. Not completely out of generosity, mind you, but also because he needed Jake’s computer skills.
The beginning of the book had me torn between applauding Archer for his actions and criticizing him for adgudgeing himself as revenger. Because, at the end of the day, he was a just romanticized criminal, no matter the immense good he was doing helping others. He argued the righteousness of his actions himself though, which I really liked, and at a certain point I decided to let go of my inner debate and just enjoy the story.
No doubt, Archer was a charmer. He knew it and he darn well used it to get his way. He charmed ME and definitely seduced Jake into helping him out…and soon after also into his bed. Aside from their illicit business, Archer and Jake were a delight together. Mischievous Archer was perfectly balanced by reasonable Jake, and their interactions were full of funny, often outrageous banter, shameless flirting and an incredible chemistry.
The plot mostly revolved around Jake and Archer trying to return some missing jewelry to their rightful owner, but they had some complications along the way that spiced things up a lot. What I enjoyed most was the humorous writing style, not only applied to Jake and Archer’s dynamic, but also to the personalities of Jake’s best friend and Archer’s family members. Some situations have been downright hilarious, while the rest was entertaining enough to always keep a smile on my face.
I could maybe, if forced lol, argue that the relationship between Archer and Jake developed a bit too fast, or the ending was just that teensy bit unrealistic. Apart from that, I found Archer and his sidekick Jack incredibe characters and the book as a whole an absolutely fun read.
Jake has stayed the course and will soon graduate. He is trying to stay on track, and is looking at the goal on the horizon. Then he meets someone who turns his world sideways and upside down.
Archer first comes into Jake’s place of business and begs him to sell something unsellable. There are real consequences to this action, for both of them. Then realizing they can help one another, they make a new plan that takes them one step closer to the rest of their lives.
This book is fast paced and literally can go whizzing by. I found I liked the characters lack of steady under their feet as it made for a fun read. Poor guys never know what hit them. From attraction, to change of jobs, to learning to navigate friendships this story has the reader on thier toes just wishing to be in on the action.
