** Book #3 in the Slater Brothers series **
Aideen Collins is a free spirit. She is outspoken and tough as nails, but she has to be after growing up in a house full of men. Family means everything to Aideen. Her family consists of her four brothers, her father, and her group of wild friends. Aideen is protective of her family, there is not a lot she wouldn’t do to keep them safe.
Kane Slater is … safe.
Kane Slater is a tortured soul. Literally. He is misunderstood by people, even feared by them thanks to the scars that mar his face and body. He relishes in their fear because people who fear you, won’t want to know you. He likes his circle limited to his brothers and their girlfriends, but a thorn from an Irish rose is dug deep into Kane’s side, and her name is Aideen Collins.
Aideen and Kane don’t get along… at all. Aideen is the only woman who stands up to Kane and throws his bullshit back at him without fear of hurting him. Kane is the only man who can see right through Aideen’s tough exterior. He knows her deepest, and darkest secrets. They can’t stand each other, but they want each other. Badly. They hide their need behind arguments, and banter, but when Kane drops his guard for all to see, and succumbs to an illness within his body, it’s Aideen who steps up to the plate to take care of him.
An illness is the least of their worries when a devil from Kane’s past comes back to play with him. Everybody in Kane’s life is threatened, and with his body fighting against him, he doesn’t know if the luck of the Irish is enough to keep his family safe and his demons at bay.
Kane needs Aideen, and what Kane needs, Kane takes.

I really enjoyed Kane’s story. Previous books have shown him to be the enforcer of the family. He is scarred, and dangerous to look at but beautiful when he smiles. He is a loner, but can easily get women when he wants, he was once seen on a date with two women at the movies. Though not even his brothers know the stories of how he got his scars.
Aideen Collins met Kane at the bar when he saved her from ex of Alec’s who got Jealous. Kane and Aideen have had a love-hate relationship since then but they eventually do get together and Aideen gets pregnant so they have to figure out where to go from there. They both want the baby and so they work on trying to build something from there.
I like this story because it doesn’t just immediately go to her moving in with him. They get to know each other and there are a lot they need to know. He has a lot of secrets and issues. Though he is a good guy and is very deep.
Firstly i have to mention after listening to 5 of these audio books Mia Ahearn has done such a great job with narrating these books and she has told them so well and i have loved listening to her.
So now we are up to the story of the middle brother Kane who was really mysterious and no one really knew what Kane had been through all we knew that he was so closed off to everyone except his family and it was really hard to let anyone in.
The thing i loved most about this book was the love/hate relationship between Kane and Aideen, the banter and arguing that these two characters have between each other would have to be my favourite, i have never laughed out loud as much in this book, there was so much back and forth it was so much fun and perfectly written.
The thing again about this book as Kane had so many dark secrets that even his brothers didn’t know and it was so heartbreaking to hear them but it also so good for him to open up to someone after being so closed off.
This book really started from the first page and i didn’t want to stop listening sometimes i would sit in my car and just keep listening. It had everything Drama, suspense, secrets and a little angst and surprises.
Absolutely loved this book and this is my favourite series. I love how even though this was Kane’s book all the brothers were such a feature and you know they always will Be the chemistry between this whole family of brothers and friends is just such a fantastic story and series. Love La Casey she is an awesome writer and you are missing out if you haven’t started this series.
Big 5 Stars and can’t wait to start Aideen.
The mysteries of Kane is finally revealed. And your mind is going to be blown!!! I’m not going to say anymore because I am not one to spoil an awesome book. So go read this one, you won’t be disappointed.

Kane, book 3 in the Slater Brothers series, was another success for L.A.Casey. It was written in the Irish dialect; therefore, rated as such.
Casey has sold me on the characters in every book in the series so far. The brothers are similar, exhibiting characteristics of their gangster upbringing, yet bringing pieces of their unique personality to the storyline.
Kane Slater is tall, dark and gorgeous demonstrating the Slater genes; however, he is the intense, quiet and sullen one that hides behind the visible scars that mar his body and scare people. Aideen Collins is the one person that sees past the external into the man. She’s beautiful, snarky, and a straight shooter. The perfect match for Kane.
I loved the premise of the story but couldn’t get into their dislike for each other. It didn’t seem authentic. I totally felt their chemistry, especially as it was introduced in the first book, Dominic. What I didn’t buy into as much was their ongoing distaste for each other. Once I was past the forced fighting, I loved how it developed.
Casey brought us through the pitfalls of their relationship as well as included an ongoing Slater conflict; which provided suspense, mystery and drama to the overall plot.
I additionally loved the inclusion of Aideen’s family. She had four brothers who seem just as strong and alpha as the Slater Brothers. Casey has now set the stage for another potential incredible series, the Collins Brothers.
True to form, Casey included the supporting cast of characters from the previous books for a growing Slater clan. This provided consistency, depth and an abundance of humor for additional substance to the storyline.
I love this series with each additional book and look forward to reading them all.
Aideen Collins is an Irish spitfire. She can’t hold her tongue for shit and lashing out against the handsome Kane Slater is her favorite sport. He may look scary to strangers, but she can see right through him and his scars only make him more beautiful to her. Banter. It is all about banter. Or so she tells herself. So when Kane succumbs to the illness that’s been affecting him for the past year, Aideen steps up to care for him. She would miss their fights otherwise. Right? Kane Slater is a loner. He is tortured by his past and keeping a safe distance from all is what he knows. Sure he has his brothers and their girlfriends have become part of his close-knit group of friends, but that’s as far as he is willing to go. Until Aideen. There is something about her that tugs at his heartstrings. She is tough and sweet. Beautiful and sassy. And he wants her like he never wanted anything before in his whole life. She is his and the sooner she accepts that the better. Because Kane won’t ever let her go. When his past comes back to hurt him, Kane is terrified for her. But when it comes to Kane and Aideen, it will take a lot more than a big scary ghost to tear them apart. As usual, L.A. Casey is brilliant with her story telling. There is so much humor and sassiness in this book that I barely stopped laughing. There is a lot of tension too. Ryder and Branna are in crises, Damien is still away, Keela still fights her demons, Dominic is enticed back into his past… There is so much going on that one book is not enough… I look forward to Aideen, Ryder, Branna, Damien, Alannah, and Brothers!
