He was forbidden, my boss and incapable of loving me.People talked about him, whispered about him in passing. He was the king of his town. And I was a visitor.I was by no means a smart girl. Never loved with my head, always with my heart. That fact alone almost killed me once. I should have listened the second time around. But the king of this small town, had me starving. Had me craving his taste. My … town, had me starving. Had me craving his taste.
My name is Kandi, and he called me his Kandiland.
The king declared I was his medicine, and with each dose, he became better and better.
He was the perfect liar.
And I was his perfect Kandi.
Together, we were explosive, and toxic in every way.

In one sentence, Kandiland is one hell of a ride!!
This book takes off in the middle of an explosive scene at a blistering pace and the velocity is dizzying!
Kandi Leo’s dramatic introduction to us left me with more questions than answers, and with typical TL Smith style of dark undercurrent woven in, that kept me turning pages to keep up with the action.
Kandi’s starting a new life, in a new town, hoping to mend a broken heart.
But she didn’t factor in the intense attraction and interest of her new boss, the distant and aloof King of Candy, Huxley Cross. He owns the town, quite literally, and he wants to own her too, and evidently what Huxley wants, he gets.
There’s something almost distant and clinical about TL’s style that lends so beautifully to this story, as both characters are emotionally removed from us in the beginning; Kandi having lost love and Huxley having never had it.
It gives her the opportunity to ingratiate us to them in her own way, so that we slowly feel them and their connection, and as always there is no lack of red hot chemistry!
Maintaining her reign as my Dark Queen, another 5 star read!!
He doesn’t do relationship and surely isn’t interested in love. Never gonna happen no way no how then oh yeah then he got a taste of Kandi. She’s recovering from a broken heart, a widow looking for a new lace to be. A place she and her husband had agreed would be their next place. She has no idea what she’s walked into. She had no idea who he was. She had no idea. Lies, deceit, what’s real and what’s not is all twisted up around him. But he doesn’t do love. She’s screwed.
Not all insta love is bad and this is the proof in the pudding. They are hot and passionate, scarred and broken. It can’t work. It has no chance. They are doomed. She is everything he never knew he wanted and this story proves it. This author takes you in and draws you into their story and makes you apart of it, You can’t escape.
Kandiland twists you up so much inside until it’s hard to breath, then one sentence from Huxley slowly untwists you until you are staring at the words “The End” wondering when you will get that high back. Huxley comes across as hard to love, but he’s not. He’s so easy to love. It’s so easy to see through his hard demeanor and see the good man in there. Yes, he will piss you off beyond belief. Yes, he will have you questioning those glimpses of a good man you’ve seen. But it’s all completely worth it. Kandi, from the first meeting, brings out a side Huxley isn’t comfortable with. She slowly unravels his complex threads and luckily sees the man inside.
Kandiland completely captivated me. I was so hung up on both Kandi and Huxley’s interactions I feel I missed the small touches of this story. That’s ok, I know I plan on reading this again and again. The entire world and characters were simply amazing to see. I only hope I see them again, Huxley and Kandi is a love story I’ll remember for a long time!
What would you do if you lost the love of your life right before your eyes? In Kandiland by TL Smith we see this scenario unfold.
To get over the grief and loss of her husband, Kandi decides to move to a town called Candy her husband had mentioned before. However once there she meets Huxley. The “King” is who he is referred to. He pretty much owns the whole town.
From the start Kandi and Huxley have an insta-lust attraction to one another. Both neither can explain their pull and sizzling hot sexual tension between them. While Huxley states only wanting Kandi in his bed, she is soon in his life.
I LOVED Huxley and Kandi’s characters. And in pure TL style we get a twist that will leave your mouth agape and you wondering WHAAAATTTT? I LOVED everything about this book, and didn’t want it to end. Bravo TL on another 5 star read!
I don’t even know where or how to begin this review. I floved this book so much from the first page that I purposely took a long time reading it because I did not want it to end. I fell so deeply in love with Huxley and Kandi and all the other characters in the book. The dynamics of their relationship and how Kandi would stand up to Huxley, a broken man who doesn’t do love or relationships. I rooted for these two the entire book. The only complaint I have about this book was that it ended. If you haven’t read this book you need to. You will not only fall in love with the characters, you’ll also appreciatehow beautifully written this story was. Perfect ending to a phenomenal story.
Kandiland is not your conventional love story it has shades of light and dark. It’s full of twists and turns and just when you think you are on the straight path to what is happening you will be haltered by a road block that will have your mind thinking overtime. This story is packed full of drama, chaos and deception. If you are after a book that will keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish then Kandi and Huxley’s story is a must read for you.
