Two neighbors and long-time friends come face-to-face with their forbidden fantasies in this sizzling ebook from New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling author Nicole Edwards. Zoey Stranford might’ve had a crush on the sexy boy next door since middle school, but she’s a woman now, and that crush has turned into a full-blown case of lust. So why is it that at twenty-nine, her libido decides to … twenty-nine, her libido decides to ramp into high gear and the only thing she can focus on is the intensely sexy, scorching hot boy next door who is definitely not a boy anymore?
The only problem is that Zoey and Kaleb have been best friends for as long as she can remember. Not to mention, Kaleb and his brothers are working on buying Stranford land to build a new resort, and she’s more than a little hesitant about his intentions.
Kaleb Walker has had his eye on Zoey for close to twenty years, but never before has he considered taking their friendship to the next level, no matter how many fantasies he’s had about her over the years. That doesn’t explain why Kaleb is hell bent on having her–in as many ways as possible.
Kaleb finds himself in a precarious situation. His brothers have nominated him to pursue Zoey’s father about purchasing the land needed to get their new resort off the ground. Finding out that Carl Stranford is on the brink of foreclosure and Zoey might just lose her house and the land, Kaleb now has to convince her to put aside her pride and let him help her.
It doesn’t take long before the flames start burning bright and hot, and the two of them burn up the nights and the days as they explore each other’s forbidden fantasies. But can their friendship survive a business transaction or the new friends with benefits clause? Or will they realize that they’ve been overlooking something much deeper that’s been right in front of them all along?more
This was my very first book by Nicole. I read it years ago. Still one of my favorites because it had shown me what I’d been missing with all the steam. Loved everything about this book.
This is the start to a great series of a great family. Love the Walkers!
I read this book i while ago and still love theses characters, there fun to read.
I loved this book I don’t know it took me so long to read it. Zoey and Kaleb have known each other for years and have been best friends. This book had a lot of wild sex with ménage this is the beginning of this series about the Walker brothers. This is a new author for me I am going to enjoy reading her work
Audible. The blurb doesn’t really alert new to the genre readers ~ this is erotica. Anyone shocked by the sex, the amount of sex, and the MFM components doesn’t know Nicole Edwards.
I’m not sure this would count as a spin-off of the “Club Destiny” series, but those characters are in here for a tiny bit. You don’t have to have read/listened to those books to get it and there’s no “updates” on CD folks enough to be meaningful.
Zoe (29) & Kaleb (31/32?) grew up in the same small town (near Austin) and have been good friends. Kaleb is one of 7 brothers who help run several family businesses. Zoe owns her own house cleaning business. Zoe is now divorced and Kaleb broke off an engagement and the time is right for them to get together.
I’m going to get my comments on narrator Eliza Grace out of the way, because I think her voice/performance impacted this beyond just a lack of skill. She sounds very, very young. Like barely in high school young. Beyond her often stilted reading (not performing), she has no range. All her characters sound nearly identical. Male & female. Her sex scenes were cringeworthy ~ sounding like two prepubescents having very adult sex. I had to skip them because it was so unnerving. Her portrayal of Zoe also ruined any attempt Edwards made in depicting Zoe as a mature/responsible/capable adult.
I gave the performance 2 stars only because Freddie Bates was great. Frankly, I wish he’d just have recorded the whole thing despite my usual preference for dual narrators.
I’m trying to give Edwards the benefit of the doubt that this story wasn’t as immature and underdeveloped as it came across, but all of it can’t be laid at the feet of a poor narrator. Kaleb’s ex-fiancé is a plot device that exists for one awkward and out of place scene. Zoe’s ex-husband drama has a little more traction, but it still felt sort of forced.
Frankly I was surprised to see the Club Destiny folks show up because as I was listening this felt like an earlier work in terms of Edwards honing her craft. Again, I’m not sure how much Grace impacted that.
The sex scenes are HOT and there’s a lot of them. There’s enough world building and plot that they don’t get overly tedious, which is nice.
Overall, I didn’t hate it. It’s part of Audible Escape. And since Eliza Grace isn’t narrating the rest of the series (except a novella I’ll probably skip), I’m going to continue with Zane.
Kaleb is one of seven Walker brothers. All the brothers own Walker Demolition, the family business they built from scratch. Some of them want to branch out and open an adult resort. There is one hold out, not yet willing to sell the brothers the land needed to complete the project. That person happens to be Zoey’s dad, Kaleb’s life long best friend. His brothers try to pressure him to involve her but Kaleb wants to keep their friendship out of it. Kaleb and Zoey have been life long friends and even though her feelings have recently changed towards him, Kaleb has been attracted to her for years but hasn’t wanted to risk losing their friendship. It all change one night when Kaleb over hears a conversation Zoey is having with her friend V. They admit their feelings for each other and start dating. Things become complicated for everyone involved when Zoey’s dad leaves all the decision making up to her. This was the first book I’ve read from Nicole Edwards and I am HOOKED! Her sex scenes are some of the hottest I have ever read. I love how the ending sets up the story for Zane in book two. I cannot wait to meet the rest of the mighty fine Walker brothers.
-” It seems like I’ve waited my whole life for you to do that.” Zoey whispered….”Trust me, baby. I HAVE waited my whole life for that.”
A story of best friends falling for each other, although they have been in love with each other for a long time now. I ead this one in one sitting. Couldn’t get enough! Loved the relationship of Zoey and Kaleb.
This one’s definitely a great start of a new series and it’s already one of my favourites.
