EDITORIAL REVIEWS:
“This is a fast paced read that had me hooked from the beginning. Ms. Grosso grabs your attention and doesn’t let go. She starts off with the female lead who is a cop, who knows how to handle herself and doesn’t take crap from anyone. The male lead is vampire candy! They work together well, and the chemistry is hot! Sex scenes are steamy and well written…If you are looking for a great new series I hope you will consider Kade’s Dark Embrace, you will not be disappointed!” ~NIGHT OWL REVIEWS
“Geeez, I think I’m in love with a few of the vampires mentioned in this book…The connection between Kade and Sydney kept be reading and wanting to know what came next, and before I knew it the book was finished…..Really great book, I would definitely recommend this book, if you don’t have it, get it now!” ~BEACH BUM READS REVIEW
“It was a fun supernatural romance and the paranormal/ voodoo elements were great. The hunky vampire character really appealed to me, as did Sydney and her foul mouth tirades. I am looking forward to reading more from this author and can’t wait for another installment in the series.” ~ON THE BROOMSTICK REVIEWS
“This paranormal romance is quite good. It has a little bit of everything. Vampires, of course. And werewolves, magicians, and witches. The plot and characters are well developed, and the pace is relatively fast, which is appropriate for a thriller. Highly recommended.” ~MIDWEST BOOK REVIEWS

Review:
I hoped for more, sadly this book didn’t deliver for me. Sydney was suppose to be a bad ass detective, a fact we where told over and over again but to me it seemed more talk than her actually showing that she was a bad ass.
Some things where weird as well. Sydney said she didn’t like working with CPAP, that she didn’t trust paranormals. But she had no issue sleeping with one of them and visiting their (sex) club regularly to hook up with a wolf shifter. She also stated a couple of times she didn’t know much about the paranormals but refuses to work with CPAP to solve the crime. She also had the tendency to run away or run into something without thinking. When people warned her about the strength of the vampires and stuff and that she could get hurt she got offended, ran in, and got hurt. Like it doesn’t make you less strong if you think first. And it’s not an insult if someone warns you or tries to look out for you. Vampires ( and other paranormal ) are after all stronger than humans.
Kade didn’t do much for me either. I didn’t feel the chemistry between Kade and Sydney.
Their sex scenes weren’t that great either. They talked about kink allot, she went to a sex club before to hook up with a wolf shiftier, she went with the vampires to a bdsm club wearing leather, fishnets, and a see through top (no bra) but all they said during sex was make love to me. Not fuck me or anything like that. It just didn’t work for me sadly.
What is this book about:
This book is about detective Sydney. When bodies start to show up in doll like states, she knows the culprit isn’t human. However when CPAP investigator Kade show up she is immediately distrustful thowards him. But the deeper she gets into the case the more she realizes that she needs him to solve the case.
What did I like/love:
Some of the side characters where fun. The idea
What did I dislike/hate:
I summed it up pretty well above I think.
Rating:
2 disappointing stars
I tried to like this book paranormal romance is my genre but in the end I just couldn’t. The writing bothered me. Everything was explicitly detailed on the page. There was no room for me to explore or engage in the book because it was all spelled out for me. The characters were also a little over the top for me too black and white.
Kade’s Dark Embrace was an okay story. I liked the characters but there were times that I felt the flow of the story was slower than I liked. I also thought that Sydney was annoying at times and some of her actions were immature. I enjoyed paranormal reads a lot but this one fell short of my expectations. This story was a one time read for me and although it ends with a bit of a cliffhanger, it didn’t leave me wanting to read the next book in the series.
I liked this first book in a series that as soon as I finished I bought the next 3 in the series.
A hot alpha male who is a vampire…and of course, he likes to bite! (Rawr!!), there is also some awesome fight scenes towards the end; and best of all…a kickass, likeable heroine! (these seem to be not very easy to find!!)This read has some very entertaining secondary characters as well; which include Tristan, the studly wolf I will however mention that we have Sydney who is a cop in Philadelphia, and she has come across a case with a dead body that has caught the interest of a vampire from New Orleans. Kade feels an instant connection to Sydney, and he decides right away that he needs to be on the murder case with her. There is a huge indication that the killings have “supernatural” written all over it. The killer who is on the loose is someone that is most likely not human. There is also some hints that say that whomever is doing the killings, is also practicing voodoo.
The whole series is wonderful!
Audiobook review: Kade’s Dark Embrace is Kade & Sydney’s Story. Sydney is a strong female police detective with a chip on her shoulder and a stubborn streak not to be bossed around. Kade is the vampire leader of New Orleans and he’s used to people obeying his orders. These two make for an interesting explosion and for a sensual story. The narrator did a good job.
What a great read.
I enjoyed the characters, plot and sexual tension of the story.
I loved the independent, stubborn, take no prisoners attitude of the heroine, as well as the dominant, cool and sure of himself vampire. The relationship between the Tristan, Kade, Luca and Sydney was wonderful, at times, even challenging the relationship between Kade & Sydney.
For those of you who are looking for an action packed book full of twists, danger and hot, mind-boggling, sexy vampires, then I would recommend this book.
I was very pleased so see that there will be a follow on book coming out in the summer of 2012.Luca is very worthy and deserving of his book – and it will be hard waiting for it
Take one sexy, take-charge cop and add one delicious vampire and a mad paranormal on a killing spree, and you get an action-packed paranormal romance page-turner.
I fell in love with this story. Vampire, Werewolves, Human Cops and Witches what more can you ask for. Love and crime. Bonding and Mating. The list keeps going. Even though Kade and Sydney were the main characters I fell in love with Luca (the strong, protective, silent type) and Tristan (the outgoing, fun, loving type). I love the bond that forms between Kade and Sydney. I love the sense of family and protection in this story.
New Orleans, Voodoo ritual killings, Vampires and a sassy human detective who pokes her nose into the world of the supernatural …. What isn’t to love !! Kade’s Dark Embrace is a fantastic read that I recommend for any lover of paranormal romance !! 5‘s !!
The second book of hers that I read, I know I did things backwards.
After a series of girls are ritualistically murdered on the cold streets of Philadelphia, seasoned detective, Sydney Willows, is forced to work with sexy, alpha vampire, Kade Issacson. While working the case, Sydney finds herself inexplicably drawn to Kade, fighting the passion she feels towards him. Kade, determined to solve the case and mete out justice, is captivated by the independent, fiery detective. As he attempts to protect her from a very real murderer, Kade grows concerned that the beautiful, but very human detective, could easily end up dead should she tangle with supernatural forces that are beyond her control.
This is one of the coolest Vampire story I have read and the characters are supper great.
I really, really loved this book, so much so that I bought everyone in the series of Immortals of New Orleans when I finished reading this one and look forward to reading the others. These guys are so hot and sexy, makes me wish there really were paranormals.
Good plot. A little disappointing that the female character never seemed to evolve in the story. She kept doing the same hard headed actions that get her in trouble…in need of saving. Altho she usually would figure her own way out of it. You think she’d learn eventually….
Enjoyed this book so much I bought the next in the series
The plot was an afterthought and the “steamy” sex was boring.
The writing was good but I could never figure out what the attraction was between them. It went from great chemistry and lust to full on love the first time they had sex. I also found Sydney to be irritatingly macho tough and mildly stupid. She goes from not wanting to deal with anything paranormal to refusing to stay out of the investigation in a heartbeat and was completely unable to acknowledge that physically she was out of her depth with vampires. I didn’t finish the book.
Non stop action. Not your typical vampire novel.
Loved it
It was ok. Predictable. The two start is due to the predictability
