When the lines between pretense and reality blur, can the actor and the boyfriend-for-hire discover something real?Ryan Levesque is Hollywood’s newest blue eyed boy. Moving from soap operas to the big screen has paid off for the kid from Minnesota, and he’s hot property. But, when a video from the lowest point of his past is shared on social media everything begins to unravel and old hurts … old hurts resurface. His agent suggests a way out of the mess, and he jumps at the chance to make things right by pretending he’s in a committed, loving relationship with the tall, dark, sexy boyfriend for hire, Kaden. Only, he never counted on the impact Kaden would have on his life, or his career.
When Kaden Moore’s next assignment lands in his lap, he’s expecting nothing more than a self-centered celebrity who’s messed up. Kaden’s new role is that of Hollywood A-lister Ryan Levesque’s boyfriend, a PR stunt concocted by his agents to restore the actor’s dented popularity. Kaden is aware of the video that surfaced from Ryan’s past, and though it raises questions about what kind of man Ryan is, it’s not any of Kaden’s business. Kaden has been pretending his entire life, and knows he can show the troublesome actor a thing or two about the world beyond the Hollywood bubble. But maybe Kaden isn’t as clued up as he thinks, especially when it comes to the heart and love.

I really liked this book, especially Kaden and the way he supported Ryan. The reader has to wait quite a while to finally get the stories of Ryan and especially Kaden. Both men have been hurt in the past and protect themselves by not letting too much of themselves show. I liked the strength Ryan showed. He wasn’t going to go after Paul for himself, but once he realized others were being hurt, he stepped forward and did what he needed to do to stop the abuse cycle. I liked the way he grew and got stronger as the story progressed. The ending was wrapped up rather quickly, but it was still satisfactory.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I really enjoyed this book, little angst and a great storyline. Ryan is an actor who had been ranting about the guy he was in love with, and someone videoed it. When it hits the air, his PR time has to go into crisis mode. Kaden is working for his uncle and he is set up as the boyfriend-for-hire to help Ryan out. Kaden knows the role he must play, loving boyfriend, protector for a few weeks. But in those few weeks, the hand holding, the gentle kisses, the small touches, and time spent together, Kaden wants it to be real.
Can you go from boyfriend-for-hire to the real deal? Both guys have a past that trust and love haven’t come easy. They’ll need to open up to each other and trust one another.
This book was really great, easy to read, great flow and one awesome sister to keep them in line!!
It’s not fair that a moment of drunken despair was filmed and a piece of it released to the public years after it happened, right? It’s not fair that, because of it,Ryan has to keep dealing with the fallout and the lasting damage of his relationship with Paul even years after he managed to leave the abusive jerk. The video brings out all of his insecurities and fears, and sadly makes him realize that maybe he’ll never be a completely self assured and confident man.
How is it fair that in order to fix his public image Ryan has to hire a fake boyfriend? On the bright side, though, that’s how Kaden comes into his life. Kaden, who’s just as hurt and wounded, but also great at hiding his pain behind his swagger and unflappable smile .
It’s certainly not fair that these two men are too wary and distrustful to act on the attraction they feel for each other. The beginning of their story is a heartbreaking one step forward two steps backward dance, with knee -jerk reactions of rejection when things seemed to get too intimate or one felt that he needed the other too much.
At times it looked like neither of them would ever put down their defences. I was so happy when they stopped touching only for show, when they started kissing each other for themselves, not part of an act. They’re obviously made for one another, with matching scars on their hearts ,each the best to understand exactly what the other has been through and the best to try to soothe away the pain.
Kaden by RJ Scott is a wonderfully heart-rending story. This author will never stop to amaze me with how brilliant she is at writing characters and their feelings and then transfer them to the reader. I felt as my own all of Kaden and Ryan’s emotions, handkerchiefs at the ready and hopeful for the end of their struggles and then happy for their love.
Beautiful book and absolutely recommended.
I loved this!
Kaden is the second book in the Boyfriends for Hire series but it absolutely stands alone. Book one, Darcy, was OK for me but I really loved Kaden.
Kaden is a boyfriend-for-hire who works for his cousin’s company. He’s not thrilled that his next assignment is pretending to be the boyfriend of a Hollywood heart-throb who’s gotten himself in a bit of trouble.
Ryan was caught on tape saying some awful things but all is not exactly as it seems. He’s not thrilled to have to hire a pretend boyfriend to help him fix his image but he’ll do whatever he needs to do to get back in the good graces of his fans.
Kaden and Ryan don’t exactly click when they first meet but it doesn’t take too long for Kaden to realize that Ryan isn’t the spoiled movie star that he expected. He knows that Ryan is hiding something, but so is he. Once they give in to their attraction for each other things really heat up!
I could feel the connection Kaden and Ryan had with each other. The authors’ words really flowed for me in this story. It was a fairly quick and wonderful read for me. I’m looking forward to the next one in this series.

This second book in the series follows another boyfriend for hire as he falls in love with his client. This time it’s Kaden’s turn in the spotlight to act like a boyfriend to Ryan, a megastar overcoming a scandal. Both men had been hurt in the past and from that a better understanding of one another to grow a fake relationship to a real one. Luckily two men are pictured on the front of the book because I never really got a sense of what they looked like from the story other than their hair.
Ryan is dealing with some past stuff that is impacting his now. Kaden is to be there to help put a positive spin on things. But Ryan begins to lean on the strength Kaden is more than willing to offer. But in leaning Ryan also realizes his own strength as well. Together they write a whole new script that suit them perfectly.
This is the second book and the series. I enjoyed it as much as the first. I had to warm up to Ryan a little. My heart goes out to him. Being in the spotlight worrying if your worst nightmare will be splashed all over. I instantly liked Kaden. I thought he was perfect for Ryan though it’s all supposed to be pretend and only Kaden doing what he’s paid to do. They have great chemistry and a connection. The emotion is real and you can feel it. The epilogue made me happy and so perfect for Ryan and Kaden.
I love a fake boyfriend story. Kaden is that and so much more. Ryan is in need of some good PR. This brings Kaden into his life to play his fake boyfriend. These two are more alike than they realize, each having suffered similiar pain.
I really enjoyed this story. The secondary characters added so much enjoyment to the flow of this book.
While taking a minute to get used to each other, I could feel the connection between Kaden and Ryan. I was rooting for their HEA! I’m looking forward to more in this series.
The great character and storyline development kept me avidly turning the pages until the very end! I was so engrossed in this story that I finished reading this book in one sitting!
Ryan and Kayden both had bad relationships. Ryan with an ex and Kayden with his mother. They both need to open up and trust again. I really liked this book. It shows how support from someone can give the strength and confidence to stand up to abuse
This is so much more than just a fake boyfriend romance. The tale of Ryan, the Hollywood actor and Kaden, the escort for hire was not what I was expecting. There were some serious issues of anxiety, depression, and abuse that RJ Scott and Meredith Russell tackled that had me on the edge of my seat. All of the taboo subjects were written in such a way that the reader could feel all the emotions and walked in the characters shoes. Beautifully done – this was a fabulous read.
I liked both Kaden and Ryan – the characters were well written and you got and insight to both of their pasts.
It was a slow burn type of story with issues of depression and abuse from the past. Kaden helps Ryan deal with his past abuse and help him heal once Ryan learned to trust him. This was a short/quick read that I thoroughly enjoyed both characters and the interaction between them.
I highly recommend this series and hope there is more to come.

Kaden works in his cousin’s company as a boyfriend-to-hire.
Ryan is an actor who has been in a scandal because he did some declarations that were recorded, and the video went viral on the Internet. Now he needs a boyfriend to try to stop the repercussions of said video.
I like Kaden. Although he has some baggage of himself, he is a good person and really wants to help Ryan and not just him but his friend too.
The story is well-written and the characters well-develop. I like the writing style of the author.
Never judge a book by his cover. Ryan went from small screen to the big screen thinking he was on top. Then a video from his past where he had a conversation that was taken out of context and misunderstood, was shared on social media tarnishing his reputation. His agent suggested a boyfriend in a loving committed relationship would go a long way to repairing it. Kayden is a professional boyfriend who thought his assignment was with another spoiled entitled rich man. Kaden and Ryan learn a few things about assuming! The relationship didn’t go into any great depth of emotions. Kaden kindly and patiently guided Ryan through his troubles. Can Ryan work through his feelings? Can Kayden turn a job into reality? Nice story. A little more digging wold make this story better. I received an ARC from Booksprout for a review.
Kaden Moore is a boyfriend-for-hire who works for his cousin Gideon’s company, Bryant & Waites. He’s not thrilled that his next assignment is to be the pretend-boyfriend of Hollywood heart-throb Ryan Levesque who had gotten himself in a bit of PR trouble that could end his career, something to do with a leaked video of his drunken ranting and threats toward a nameless boyfriend 3 years ago. But Kaden didn’t research his client, preferring to form his own opinions when they met. Ryan seemed agitated, even scared, not happy to have to go to these lengths in hiring a pretend boyfriend with no experience with high-profile personalities. How could Kaden help him fix his image when he didn’t know how to deal with paparazzi or go to interviews and premieres with him and fit in? But he’s desperate and will have to do whatever it takes to win back the favor of his fans.
The first public dating was awkward at a party with well-known celebrities. Kaden and Ryan hadn’t had a more intimate setting previously to get used to each other; and Ryan was uncomfortable. It wasn’t until they dropped Kaden off at the end of the evening that Ryan showed the tiniest acceptance in asking if Kaden would invite him in for coffee. More experiences of being together will make Kaden realize Ryan may not be the spoiled movie star he had expected him to be. Both men are hiding things from their past, but as they start to open up and trust, their attraction for each other starts to shift into something real.
Because life doesn’t run smoothly, Ryan’s abusive, manipulative ex-boyfriend comes back into his life. Paul is still intent on regaining his control of Ryan. But Ryan has grown up some since their breakup, and experiencing what a real relationship could be, will he have the strength to face Paul and set him straight? Will Kaden’s comfort and support be just what he needs to really break from the past?
This was a well-written book, immediately relaxing the reader with the humor and banter among Kaden, Gideon, and Rowen. So it was easy to go into the story line with a smile and warm feelings for the characters. The author’s writing was so good that the reader was comfortable in the world that was created. Ryan’s sister, Carmen, was a perfect companion and kept him grounded as no one else could – at least until someone special came into his life. Kaden was strong, calm, and steady. Wonderful and likable characters. The story was beautifully told in a way that made it all real and understandable. Don’t miss this experience. It will open your eyes and your mind to what’s important – and that’s relationship, honesty, and absolute trust.
This is the second book in the Boyfriends for Hire series, and it did not disappoint. The characters are well developed throughout the story, and the storyline is well written.
Kaden comes from a hurtful past, and he doesn’t trust easily. He does, however, seem to have the patience of a saint at times, and is able to keep a level head. When he learns that his new client is a celebrity going through a rough time, he decides to learn about the man from the source himself instead of the many media outlets.
Ryan is a rising star in the acting world, but his star has recently been tarnished a bit by things said in the past and now taken out of context. However, he is not ready to set the record straight, so he and his team have decided that he needs a boyfriend; at least until the most recent movie’s premier on the red carpet.
Although things get off with a rocky start, Kaden and Ryan are soon able to get their act together and present a decent performance at events. That is, until a nightmare from Ryan’s past shows up and sends Ryan into a tailspin.
Things get better with no further face-to-face interactions, and Ryan and Kaden begin to realize that what they are doing may not all be due to the contract. Things heat up, but Kaden is still not quite ready to give his whole heart quite yet.
When another victim of the same monster asks for help, Ryan comes to terms with the fact that he has to stand with his friend and face the consequences, come what may. Kaden stays to support his lover, but eventually he returns to New York to give both Ryan and himself time to be sure how they truly feel.
In the end, Ryan’s decision to stand up with his friend leads to unexpected results, and his career is safe once again. And, of course, our MCs get their HEA, just as they should.
Happy reading!

This is my first book about gay romance and i m glad that it was this book. Not too steamy romance scenes but just perfect….. enough romantic scenes for a newbie like me. The characters were all too real, people with insecurities, wavering confidence and supportive persons. This book has captured the essence of being human- how we often blame ourselves when we are blinded with love. I absolutely loved the storyline and the characters- totally relatable.

This is the second book in the Boyfriend for Hire series. It is a MM contemporary romance. This was a wonderful romance with really complex issues. The characters are complicated and the plot deals with some difficult issues. RJ Scott deals with this wonderfully and the story is captivating. Though this is the second in the series, I feel it can be read as a stand alone book.
Don’t trust everything you see , even salt looks like sugar.
Kaden is book #2 in the Boyfriend For Hire series. I did not read book 1 and I think , might have affected my full enjoyment of this story. I do not know , other readers did not seem to be at disadvantage.
Kaden , falls in the fake boyfriend trope . A slow burn , medium heat story that deals with heavy topics as homophobia, anxiety, depression, and abuse both physically and emotionally and it might be a trigger for some.
It is a good read. I just couldn’t connect with the heroes.
It is very likely a – It is me , not you – situation going on here. My suggestion is read it yourself and come to your own conclusions.

Another great read by R J Scott. The second book in the series brings Kaden and Ryan’s story. The author does a great job building the story and pulling you in with her strong characters , descriptive writing and detailed scenes. She brings strong emotions, tons of love and support and a hot sizzling chemistry in this slow burn romance. I loved reading their story and would recommend this book.
