Hunter Fitz keeps running from his past, but the dark claws of memory follow him everywhere he goes. Taking another new job in another new city, Hunter hopes that maybe, just once, he can finally settle down. Then he meets Kacey Reynolds, a free-spirited student who is as beautiful as he is exasperating, to say nothing of the unbearable arousal Hunter feels whenever the boy is around.Hunter knows … around.
Hunter knows he can’t give in to temptation. He’s managed to stay celibate for two decades, and breaking that streak would make him just as bad as them.
But Kacey might prove more than he can resist.
**This book contains content of a taboo nature.** Also contains one stern logic professor who’s haunted by his past, one sassy FTM trans student with an affinity for makeup and belly dancing, and philosophical musings on different cultures’ views on sex and relationships.
(Note: This story takes place in a fictional world, the same as in the Shifting Isles Series. There are multiple gods, different names for the days of the week, etc. A glossary is included.)

This series ripped me apart and tore my heart in pieces before finally putting it back together. It’s so dark, emotional and a bit twisted with three people dealing with inner demons from their disturbing past and I cannot stop reading about these indiviuals and am now fully invested after reading this Author’s newest book in the same universe. This series takes a place in a fictional world. If you are a fan of dark, taboo, angsty MMM romances, then you will enjoy this one.Kacey’s book is the first one in the series. The more this author digs into these characters pasts, the more you want to keep reading and want to know how it all turns out in the end. These characters are just so well written and the story is so well done. There are many times where you will question if it’s even possible for them all to get their HEA. This first book is about Kacey still pining after a man he can’t have but ends up finding a delicious distraction at the college he attends. That delicious distraction is professor Hunter Fitz and there is more to the man than meets the eye. Kacey goes after what he wants while Hunter remain in serious denial while trying to keep his inner demons at bay but they have a whkle of always sneaking up on him and taking over, bringing out a dark part of him he fought so hard to leave behind. This series will have you on the edge of your seat. I immediately grabbed the next book. All the suprises and twists and turns will make it impossible for you to put this series down.
I really wasn’t sure what to expect going in when I decided to read this book, but wow! I was hooked from page one. Kacey was such and amazing character. Upbeat, fun, and I absolutely fell in love with him. Hunter, well, now, he’s another story. I can’t say I really like his character, but yet I do. I love complicated characters like him so I guess I’m going to go with a love/hate relationship with him. I totally loved the mystery behind his past and that’s what kept me going. Honestly, about halfway through I thought about giving up, but I didn’t. I pushed on and man oh man am I glad I did. That ending was amazing! I cannot wait to read the next book in this series! More please!
Wow! Kacey is so charismatic, confident and self aware that he completely came to life. Hunter is a fascinating character with so much mystery about him. The storyline was great, the intrigue, sexual chemistry, and plot just captivated me, and took me along for the ride. Loved it!
This was a dark story, which I consider a psychological thriller rather than a romance. Hunter had a tragic youth, which turned him into a seriously messed up adult. Kacey was a sweet and optimistic young man, who had a fixation with his stepfather. When these two met, nothing would ever be the same again for either of them.
I had a really hard time with some aspects of this story. I enjoy taboo stories, but this didn’t have the feelings I usually like in those. The darkness in Hunter made me sad and anxious. I wanted him to heal from his past, but I also wanted to save Kacey and everyone else from him. I loved Kacey, but I wanted him to have better self protection instincts.
The story was very well written, and I was certainly engrossed. I honestly haven’t decided yet if I will read the next part of Kacey and Hunter’s story, since I know it will be just as difficult – if not more so. But a part of me wants to see where that will take me. I also want to see what happens when Hunter’s past rears its head. I’m not sure, but I might just have to find out.
Kacey: The First Premise by GR Lyons is the first book in a series, Transitivity, and I need the other books NOW! Seriously, this book took me on a journey and I need to continue on and see where this all leads to.
The story is well written, with interesting characters and an intriguing storyline. The book is set in a fictional world that uses unique names for the days of the week and other things. So, no, that was not a typo, the year written in that sentence really is 3598. Do not fear though, there is a helpful glossary included that you should check out before reading. 😉 The world created here really is unique and well described. My attention was grabbed, held captive and never faltered from this taboo and fantastic tsle!
I received an advanced reader’s copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review and recommendation.
