The first time I heard his cheesy pick-up line, he made me laugh. The next night, I fell madly in love. Then he shattered my world without speaking a word, leaving me with an empty heart and a hollow soul. Still, I tried to fix what was broken, only to be humiliated beyond repair. I couldn’t believe the same man who promised me heaven so ruthlessly put me through hell with lips that once … that once worshipped me.
I thought that was the end of us, but then a life-altering discovery threatened more than just me, and the least likely man to stand at my side was the one who refused to leave it.
What readers are saying about Justifying Jamie:
It’s not often that the chemistry between the main characters is a firehouse from the jump, but that happened with this book, and I love it. What they have is messy and gritty, but it’s also one of the most intense loves I’ve seen in a book. ~ Ebonie
Gripping story line. Real, honest and intense emotions.Amazing writing. Unforgettable and imperfect characters. Justifying Jamie by Anna Brooks is a sexy, swoony and gritty rockstar romance! ~ PP’s Bookshelf
Justifying Jamie was an emotional roller coaster of feelings that had me on the brink of wanting to hug Jamie or throw a left hook and knock his but out for being so cruel. Holy Alpha. Anna Brooks wrote a heart-wrenching story with a beautiful ending and characters that are so relatable. ~Lori T.

OMG! Anna you’ve done it again. I love your stories so much, and you’re an amazing storyteller.
First things first, YOU NEED TO FIX L&M! FIX. THEM!
I really enjoyed Mercy and Jamie’s story, and all of the ups and downs that went with them.
Jamie didn’t have a whole family unit growing up, where as Mercy had it, but it wasn’t the perfect family.
They meet one night out and Mercy didn’t fall for his cheesy pickup lines, but they did fall into bed together. I love a great story in which there’s that instant connection, and it like this for these two from the beginning. I loved their banter back and forth!!
Just one thing after another happens as to why they haven’t connected with one another over 3 years. AND THEN IT HAPPENS!!
Boy, was that an explosion waiting to happen, and not in the good way either.
Talk about a small world, and who they both know. WOW! I loved all the twists and turns, and how you didn’t know what was going to happen on the next page!
Charity, her sister isn’t putting up with any of Jamie’s shenanigans, and wants her to walk away from him.
Oh, I loved that they were in Kentucky! It’s where I’m from!
Can Mercy just walk away?
Can she sign the papers in time before someone else comes into her life?
Will Jamie get the truth as to what really happened that night?
My fave quote from the book:
As long as I can call you mine, nothing else matters. – SWOON MOMENT! UGH Jamie! I can’t!
Finally we get the story behind the band that’s behind the scenes one way or another throughout Anna Brooks’ books. One thing I’ve always liked about this author is that her books are somehow interconnected, so Reason to Ruin is not new if you’ve read her before. Jamie and Mercy’s story gave me all the feels. It was emotional, raw, funny, sexy, an emotional turmoil from start to finish and I just loved it. I felt their love, lust, anger, frustration, everything! This book sets the bar high for the rest of the guys, but something tells me this series will be that good.
Jamie and Mercy, otherwise known as Daisy and Donny. Absolutely loved the puns that both were doing on their one night stand. Totally loved their break in to the vending machine and all the junk food, and calling each other crazy cause he doesn’t eat a Kit Kat properly. “Decadent”. There is so much misunderstanding and then there is so much where they just miss each other and you go, come on, come on, look this way. You kind of want to hit each of them up side the head, they are being so stubborn. By the middle of the book, my mouth dropped open with all the things that happened at once, WOW, just WOW. Gut wrenching on their way to their HEA. Definitely a must read book.
I voluntarily reviewed this book.
This is the 1st book in a new series from this talented author and what a wonderful instruction Jamie and Mercy’s story is. This is a beautifully written tale which is a raw, gritty, sweet, steamy, emotional roller coaster, which all lead to a riveting 2nd chance romance story. I highly recommend for all readers.
Anna Brooks nailed this awesome Rockstar Romance
Cuttingly and often brutally honest, Anna Brooks has pulled no punches in the lives of the women who have fallen in love with a rock star. Even when mistakes are made on both sides, often one partner is more forgiving than the other, or issues continue to surface that it seems even love can’t conquer.
Rocker romances are my absolute favourite trope by far, and you’d think that I’d come across every combination of book plot out there. Not so. Anna Brooks is my most recent author discovery and this is the first book of hers I have read. Her style of writing cuts through the romance into the very failure and foibles of human emotion. When do you say no more to un-forgiveness and the continual raising of issues that cannot be taken back or undone, and in spite of the love being a once in a life time, those past mistakes keep being bandied around as weapons that wound deeply? When do you say enough, and move on with the best life that you can, given the circumstances that life has handed to you?
My heart broke for both Jamie and Mercy. Ms. Brooks threw them so many curveballs, that I couldn’t see how they would survive. I needed to know whether their love was truly unconditional, or would it just be another victim to loving a rockstar, but whose life was always on the road.
Author Anna Brooks nailed it. I love Rockstar Romances, and I absolutely loved this one. Luckily, I already have the next one, Gabe’s book, in my hot little hands, cos that is my next read. 5 Stars.
Justifying Jamie is my first book by new to me Author Anna Brooks.
A few times during this book I felt I was missing something especially when there was references to other characters which after a bit of digging I discovered Liam who is Jamie’s brother and his sister in law are in a previous book by this author but with this being the start of a new series I was left a little confused so I discovered their story is in PROVE ME RIGHT, which is the series IT’S KIND OF PERSONAL #3 so obviously this is a crossover series which is not mentioned in the blurb. It did leave me curious as to what had happened in their story and I probably will also read that but I don’t like going backwards hence starting what I thought was a new series.
This is Jamie and Mercy who meet one night in a bar, they have a one night stand together and the chemistry is off the charts. Mercy has to leave is a hurry following an incident with her mother and through a misunderstanding and a mix up with phone numbers they don’t see each other again for three years all the while each of them never forgetting the other.
Jamie is a Rock-star touring, having the high life and plenty of groupies, where Mercy is a nurse and under pressure to settle down by her pushy mother.
It was an interesting story, I got annoyed with the characters, frustrated with their actions, so there was angst and some drama’s but it does eventually lead to a hea.
In summary, I would definitely read more in this series and maybe start by reading some of the books previously released too, I did find the authors writing easy to follow and found it it just the right amount of drama and hotness to keep you turning the pages.
Justifying Jamie is a love story of chance meetings, instant soul deep connections and so many misunderstandings. A story full of angst, heartbreaking moments that will have your chest aching and so much chemistry that you will feel the tingles in your fingertips. Jamie and Mercy have one fleeting night that is full of promises but when life intervenes, years will pass, mistakes will be made, harsh words will be spoken but one thing will remain, the love they have for each other. As these two deal with mistakes that are life altering your pulse will race, your loyalty will be torn but one thing will be for sure, Jamie will justify everything and own your heart.
What a crazy ride Jamie and Mercy takes us on. My emotions were all over this place during this story. It is well written and a great book indeed!
I enjoyed reading, even though I’ve not read any other of this authors books. It definitely makes me want to.
It was happy, sad, there were tears and I was able to laugh.
Definitely a new author for me.
Ohhhhh Anna Brooks you have done it yet again. This book was Phenomenal. I read in one sitting. I couldn’t wait to turn the page or get to the next chapter. I was to damn excited to see what happens next.
This story happens over a 3 Year period. Truste nothing is dragged out, nothing is boring and it definitely not shitty dialogues. Jamie and Mercy definitely come from different worlds. They are the total opposite of each other even when it comes to personality.
The twists and turns and OMG did that just happen was things you dont see coming. These are clearly two ppl so inlove but fate is saying it isnt time yet. Fate plays horride trivks on them and in turn they do mean hurtful things somewhat unknowingly but all the same hurts.
These two are definitely made for each other, from the moment they met their Chemistry is intense. Everything that can pulls them together.
Watching th finally get their HEA was fucking awesome….
Hope you enjoy these two’s story as much as I loved reading it.
Jamie is with the band Ruin. Mercy is a nurse. Opposites do attract. Jamie meets Mercy in a bar and has some really cheesy one liners for her so she calls him Donnie and he calls her Daisy. A misunderstanding leads to some very rough periods for them. But they finally get to where they understand one another. Can they move forward? This was a really great read.
Justifying Jamie is the first book by Anna Brooks that I have read, and I loved it. Following Jamie & Mercy’s story with ups and down. I found it to be an emotional ride, but well worth reading.
Justifying Jamie is an emotional read with so many layers of angst! There is great character development and you will immediately fall in love with Jamie and Mercy. They will also drive you crazy!! Overall I loved their story and cant wait for whats to come!!
Holy I absolutely loved this story, it gave me all the feels. I was so happy when Mercy and Jamie met each other, it was exactly what they both needed. But I don’t think it was their time, they went years without each other, but never far from their thoughts. And I loved how they kept each other close even if they didn’t exactly know each other’s name ( I think that was my fav part). This is a read every one needs to experience, just feeling the emotions thru the pages.
Oh yes!! Anna Brooks is back with an almighty bang with this brand new series, I’ve definitely missed all her words!
This story was executed brilliantly in the style that only this lady can do and I’m more than excited to see where the rest of the series goes. Amazing!!
This rockstar romance is probably my favorite one that I’ve read this year. Mercy and Jamie go through A LOT in this book – honestly, I wasn’t prepared for everything they would go through as a couple – but it eventually led to them finding happiness, and I’m absolutely here for it. It’s not often that the chemistry between the main characters is a firehouse from the jump, but that happened with this book, and I love it. What they have is messy and gritty, but it’s also one of the most intense loves I’ve seen in a book. There are some points in the book where I wanted to throw it because I was so annoyed with the characters, and there are others where I’m absolutely swooning; the range of emotions I ran through with this book is crazy, but it kept me hooked from beginning to end. I feel like some loose ends were purposely left that way in this book, and I can’t wait to read more!
This is the first book that I have read from this author and it blew me away. Jamie and Mercy were amazing. They met and fell in love but because of a simple mistake, they lost 3 years of being together. You will not be disappointed by the time you are finished with this book. It will take you on a very emotional roller coaster. You will not want to put it down because you need to see how it ends.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
An angst filled emotional roller coaster ride. One amazing night and the morning after is not what either party expected. After a miscommunication and stubbornness from both parties, Jamie and Mercy move on. Years later their paths cross and after some not so not words, Jamie and Mercy try again. I enjoyed this book, these two went through a lot to be together and have a HEA!!
I can honestly say that I loved this book so much. I read it without stopping once. I was hooked. The characters had a lot to overcome and once they did it was brilliant. My only disappointment was I would have loved to have a glimpse into their future
Jamie is in a rock band called Reason to Ruin and Mercy is a nurse working at the hospital. Chances of these two running into each other twice in succession is rare but happens and sparks fly! A one night stand turns into so much more and the possibilities are endless. Until an emergency the next morning and a mishap ruin what might have been.
But fate has a funny way of showing up and directing our lives. When these two are given a second chance, can they overcome the different paths they have taken and forgive each other? This was a page turner for sure and I was in love with both Mercy and Jamie. The band was like family and their friends were all in. Mercy’s mother never thought her daughter lived up to her expectation and belittled her constantly, running her life and setting her up with men that were “suitable” but not “the one”.
This is a great read with an HFN that I wholeheartedly recommend!
