It’s been years since Milena Reinhardt has seen TJ “Rock” Rockwell. The last time, he was nearly a shell of a man…but he was her man…and he tore her heart out of her chest. Circumstances unbeknownst to TJ have ensured Milena’s never fully recovered.TJ left his sniper days behind—for the most part—when he left the Army and become a respected Texas Highway Patrolman. He also left behind Milena. … Milena. He’s convinced it was the right thing to do at the time, but that doesn’t mean he’s ever forgotten the woman who loved him in his greatest time of need…or has stopped thinking of her since.
Neither thought they’d see each other again, until a pedophile’s operation is taken down and the evil man sets his vengeful sights on Milena. This could be their second chance, even though TJ and Milena have enough secrets and trust issues to end any relationship before it starts. But when the bad guy closes in, they’ll have to set aside their fears and trust in each other, to save the one thing that means the world to them both.
** Justice for Milena is the 10th book in the Badge of Honor: Texas Heroes Series. Each book is a stand-alone, with no cliffhanger endings.
** TJ and Milena face a truly nasty foe. While his sins are never described on the page, certain basic information is included for the characters to grasp the full breadth of the villain’s evilness. For my more delicate readers, please remember…good always triumphs over evil.

Have been waiting for TJ’s story!! This did NOT disappoint!! The love between the TJ and Milena was so sweet. I’m glad there wasn’t a ton of angst. They were able to communicate and reconnect fairly quickly once reunited. This book is one you can’t put down once you start. Lots of emotion, love, and enough action and suspense to keep you riveted. Can’t wait for the next book in this series!
TJ Rockwell made a mistake when he walked away from Milena Reinhardt three years ago and has regretted it everyday since. Given a chance to atone from an unexpected source, TJ jumps at the chance. If nothing else he can at least apologize but he’s hoping in his heart of hearts to win her back. Milena was completely broken when TJ left her. It was her darkest hour. While she’s never stopped loving him the chances for any type of reconciliation are nil except she does have a secret that will impact both of their lives. Love and happiness do win out in the end but not before some perilous moments courtesy of Jonses who are bent on revenge.
“Justice for Milena” is the tenth book in the Badge of Honor: Texas Heroes series and although it can be read as a standalone, I have a feeling that you will want to go back and read the entire series. This is the story of TJ “Rock” Rockwell and Milena Reinhardt. TJ and Milena share a past, among other things, but when TJ left his sniper days behind, he also left Milena. Now he is a Texas Highway patrolman and although he has never forgotten Milena, he also doesn’t expect to see her again. Fate has other plans though when a very evil man sets his sights on Milena after a pedophiles operation is taken down. TJ and Milena will have to trust each other to protect the one thing that they both love.
This book is loaded with action, friends, passion, romance and love.
TJ a former sniper he felt responsible for getting his Delta Force team killed some people helped him out and gave him a way to get a job with the highway patrol one night he gets a call that tells him Milena a name he hadn’t heard in three years is in trouble so he protects her and tries to get her to forgive him
She is unsure but seeing him puts a smile back on her face when he learns about his son he does all he can to make sure both of them are happy they have sizzling romance and learn to forgive and love again the men who. run the clinic she has been working at TJ shoots the main guy when Milena and his son are near him but he has to save them TJ asks her to marry him and they celebrate she has a surprise for him too and they have a happy ending
The horrors of a paedophile ring masquerading as a school for girls and orphanage comes to light in this story. This horror allows TJ and Milena to reconnect after he walked away three years ago with PTSD.
Lots of action, some steam and great friendships guaranteed in this story .
TJ seems broken due to his last mission where his whole Delta Team got killed and he seriously injured. A very heartwarming story about forgiveness, trust and – of course – love. You’ll never cam Go wrong with Susan Stokers books.
An excellent story stands on it own although TJ can be first scene in Protecting Emily, it is also the Prequel to Protecting Sadie (a cross over story).
If this story were real life, I would be shocked & scared. The thought of such depravity is abhorrent. Because I’m certain there are minds out there who would delight in it just makes it a better story.
As always Susan Stoker does a great job with her characterization and setting the scenes. She leads the reader to understand the risk and through the climax into the epilogue.
Erin Mallon did a fantastic job narrating. I hate to say it because Stella Bloom slso does a great job with Ms Stokers stories but it was so good to hear another set of voices.
JT gets Justice for Milena
I’m slowly working my way through this series and trying to get to Penelope’s story but I’m enjoying the adventures I’m going on to get there and loving these couples and everything they’re going through to get their own HEA.
JT knows he made a mistake when he left Milena but he thought he was doing the right thing. When she’s mentioned in passing he can’t believe she’s still in the same city as him. He’s now determined to prove to her that he’s not the man he was three years ago and will do everything possible to keep her safe but also earn back her love and trust Excited to read Blythe next
Good lord TJ was a hot mess. The baggage he carried almost destroyed his future but once he righted his head and fought to get his world back, he gained more than he imagined. Amazing installment full of twists and turns.
Wow another doozy of a story! The evil that is addressed in this book is really ugly, but Susan Stoker wrote it with such finesse. I loved the characters of Milena and TJ, they both suffered so much when TJ decided to leave her for her own good. He, of course, thought it was for the best but didn’t take very long to realize he could not live without her. Unfortunately it was too late, she disappeared. Now three years later, when TJ is asked to help with a situation and Milena’s name is mentioned, he was all in. TJ is desperate to have Milena forgive him and willing to do anything to have her back, he is definitely in for a surprise when he did not just leave Milena behind. Their second chance journey to their happily ever after has quite a few bumps in the road, but they both still love so deeply. The villians in this story were especially bad, they actually were really cringe-worthy!
All in all, I really enjoyed this story, I am looking forward to continuing this series.
Milena and TJ met at a time when TJ needed someone the most even if he wasn’t in the right head space to be able to commit to it. Because of this, he walked away from an amazing woman. He thought he was doing an honorable thing.
Years later, he finds out she is in trouble and she doesn’t even know it. He calls in multiple favors to be tasked as her bodyguard because he isn’t let her get away a second it.
I loved this second chance romance. It is very evident from the very beginning that they loved each other. My only issue was, while it was cute, having TJ and JT as two different characters it got confusing at times.
When the love of your life walks out it’s hard to know where to go from there. With a shattered heart but so full of love for an unexpected gift left behind, Milena makes a success of her life with the support of friends and family. But when she’s in danger it’s the man she thought she could move on without that comes to her aid. TJ regrets every day that he left the woman that had a home in his soul. Yet his demons wouldn’t let him stay and be happy. Though he’s tried to make a life without her there’s not one part of him — mind, body, heart, or soul — that can move on without her. And when he gets a chance to be a part of her forever he’s going to use every method, connection, and honest confession he can to make his part permanent. Nothing and no one will get in his way, not even a sadistic pair of men bent on eliminating Milena.
LOVE the celibate hero. FINALLY! I’ve honestly been hoping there was a sexy hero out there that doesn’t become a manwhore after a breakup. So Alpha — at every turn. But, and this is the best, he didn’t “imprison” Milena because of his fierce need to protect. His interactions with JT were so very sweet. To see his heart find completeness, all the love he could ever want, deserve, hope for, dream of…I’m not sure it’s possible not to love this man.
And for his partner I couldn’t wish for a better woman in Milena. Now, when they meet again after years, Milena’s gut reaction was not awesome. Yes, it was understandable, but it wasn’t very nice. I mean, we get a lot of pain, a sense of abandonment, some resentment, but a lot of what we read before their meeting was more of her love and tenderness toward the broken man that left her. And then, after all the expressions of love and keeping his memory present, for her to explode with vitriol at their first interaction I was completely floored. I could guess that there would be a bunch of banked anger in and amongst all her feelings for the man but for that one to take center stage was shocking and slightly disappointing. That being said, she’s strong, independent, but not mule-headed. Her trust in the man who shattered his heart is staggering and as she allows him to put those pieces back together more securely than if it had never broken in the first place, she finds her own happiness, one that she could never have imagined before.
The antagonists were truly sick and I now this is completely un-PC to even think this, but I was glad for TJ’s brand of justice. I’m not going to get into politics here in a book review, but with a rotten, festering soul that does what these men did and have all the money and political connections they had, knowing that the legal process wouldn’t bring justice on them, a different kind of justice needed to be carried out. So in this fictional story with fictional men doing drastic things to bring about justice for the innocents in the fictional story, I’m 100% behind TJ’s actions. In real life situations like this may occur and my feelings might be more complicated regarding the resolution, but for the purposes of this particular story, I agreed with how the conflict was settled.
Drama, incredible feels, intense passion, regret, forgiveness…there is so much to love about this story. I’ve wanted to get TJ’s story for so long and he has lived up to every one of my heart’s hopes for him and his own happily ever after. And now for Sadie’s story…without Sadie at Milena’s side over the years things might have gone very differently. But that teaser at the end with Sadie getting an earful of Chase’s intentions?!?!?!?! Holy Eff. I’m tingling right now. Must. Read. Soon!
Awesome, loved seeing the tie-in. Can’t wait to read Chase (from Delta book 1) in the next book.
This is a voluntary review and I do not get paid for this review!
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I love Susan Stoker, but this one was not my favorite.
I’ve really enjoyed this series and this book is one of my favorites. I’m sure I’ll read it again.
TJ’s story is here! TJ, former Delta sniper, gets his story here and it’s fast paced and hot! Plenty of action keeps the pages turning and Ms. Stoker’s writing brings the characters to life in such a way that the reader becomes invested in their lives. Wonderful addition to the Badge of Honor series. (Make sure you read this one before the next Delta Force Heroes – Rescuing Sadie – as the two storylines are connected)
Justice for Milena is another 5 star book by the awesome Susan Stoker. I’ve been waiting for TJ’s book for awhile and it was definitely worth the wait. TJ and Milena second chance love story encompassed difficult issues but as with all of Susan’s books it has a HEA. I have and continue to recommend books by this author.
I love how each story is a stand alone, but you still get pieces of the other couples.
I absolutely love all the teasers for upcoming books.
TJ was amazing. He owned up to his mistakes and never looked back.
Milena was just as amazing in making sure TJ was not left out.
Great book, and can’t wait for more. Whether it’s the Delta’s or Badges.
Whew! My heart is still racing from this story, it is seriously intense at the end. I absolutely adored these characters, TJ and Melina had some serious work to do. Sadie is an amazing BFF, and JT, I could just snuggle him forever (if he was real anyway). The writing and the story are both wonderful. I pre-order everything Susan Stoker writes and I have yet to be disappointed in anything of her’s I’ve read. I can hardly wait for the next book!
Rating: 4.5 Stars
Make sure to read the Author’s Note because you may decide to add something to your TBR list.
TJ “Rock” Rockwell shows the frustration that some of our returning soldiers may feel. His nickname is perfect and I think as you read this story you may feel the same. Melina Reinhardt shows you don’t always know everything about who you work for. This is what adds the suspense to the story.
I’m giving you fair warning – you will need to keep a tissue, or maybe a box, handy. There’s one scene, and the minute you start to read it, that may bring at least one tear to your eye. This book seems to have it all. We’re always told that good things come in small packages. This is one of those packages but there’s also a little man who will steal your heart – he stole mine. Melina had a great creative idea so that children will remember loved ones. This author has a way with words. I never have any trouble playing her scenes in my mind. And I can almost hear her characters talking in my head – or maybe I have an audible implant I wasn’t aware of. She also has a way of creating suspense where I almost want to hold my breath. She also created a scene where I couldn’t control a shiver.
What’s good about this series is that you could read these books out of order and it will not take away from the enjoyment of the story you are currently reading. So even though this is book ten of the Badge of Honor: Texas Heroes you could start here and then work yourself backward. At least until her next book comes out – and if you’re like me you won’t have much patience about having to wait. Just a hint though – the Epilogue tie in leads to another series. And if you’re really paying attention then you’ll notice that there’s actually another lead into another book coming in June.
I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
