For Cruz Livingston, becoming an FBI agent is a lifelong dream, guarding the streets of San Antonio, a calling. His latest assignment—infiltrating the Red Brothers Motorcycle Club—will help stem the flow of illegal drugs brought into the city by the violent gang. He expects the job to be dangerous. He doesn’t expect to meet the woman of his dreams while undercover.
Mickie Kaiser is refreshingly … refreshingly sweet, but her sister is intimately involved with the RBMC’s president. Cruz can’t afford to come clean about his double life without putting his operation in danger, but as violence creeps ever closer to Mickie, his priority becomes crystal clear. Cruz will do anything to keep Mickie alive…even if it means losing her love.
** Justice for Mickie is the 2nd book in the Badge of Honor: Texas Heroes series. Each book is a stand-alone, with no cliffhanger endings.

I love Susan Stoker’s writing, and I know she can write some pretty dark things. As I began reading this, I thought it was going to be too dark, but it was actually one of my favorites. I just loved how Cruz was so protective of Mickey, no matter what, even though he was undercover. Great job, Susan!
This book was not for me. The characters were good and had a good story, but there was so much unnecessary violence.
Ms. Stoker’s books are always good. They usually have a lady in need of a rescuer in spite of her female characters being strong women. Then the hero comes along and saves the day often in spite of the female interference.
Good stories. Romantic suspense.
Never read a Stoker book I didn’t love.
Boring. Predictable, simple minded characters .
I didn’t care for this book. It spends almost of time going into the undercover work Cruz is doing, which involves drugs and sex.
This story was a little brutal
Loved the bond between friends
So enjoyed
I have read the before and after book, but this is great that I finally got to read Cruz & Micki’s story. Cruz is an FBI agent working undercover in a MC gang in San Antonio, he is trying to find out if Angel knows more about he hang since she is dating the President. But he meets Micki, Angel’s sister while the girls were at lunch. But Micki doesn’t know he is FBI, she thinks he does security, under all heck breaks out.
The two of them just seem to be destined for each other. Cruz, for finally finding a woman that knows what she wants and fights for her sister and Mickie for getting to Cruz without even trying. An emotional story that gets you to read about the darker side of the City of San Antonio, Texas. Even though Cruz can’t be open to Mickie from the beginning due to his assignment he tries so hard to be what she wants. Until the ultimate sacrifice has been made from the hand of someone else.
Just another amazing story in the series and by the author. Great.
Another great story from Susan Stoker in the Texas Hero’s series. We met Cruz in book 1 as an FBI agent he has been tasked to go undercover as “smoke” to infiltrate an MC group. Once in amongst the club he is tasked with keeping the sister of the presidents new side piece Angel away from club business. The sister turns out to be the heroine Mickie.
The danger comes when Cruz meets Mickie as himself so he now has to try and keep his two personas separate even though in reality they bleed together. The MC story line felt a little darker than book 1 and the Author portrayed the conflict of emotions in Cruz well. The relationship between sister Mickie and Angel was also a heartbreaking one watching it slowly break down.
The big showdown at the end of the book was an explosive one in so many ways! The plan doesn’t go the way it was supposed to and Cruz’s double life is exposed to Mickie right in the thick of it. Again a great romantic suspense and a worthy addition to the series.
4 stars
Mickie has been worried about her sister, whom she raised because her parents were too busy. When her sister starts dating the president of a motorcycle gang, she begs her to stop seeing him. Cruz is a FBI agent and is currently undercover in a motorcycle gang as a prospect. He is looking for who is delivering the drugs to the gang. He meets Mickie when trying to get close to her sister. The president wants her off her sisters back and Cruz volunteers to keep an eye on her. What he never suspects, is how attracted to her he is. Then Mickie goes to a club party and Cruz has to keep her protected while still doing his job.
Action, sex, and bikers. Great story that’ll keep you reading until the book is over. The only thing for me was, the dialogues were too close. There was no transition from one character to the next.
All of Susan Stoker romantic suspense novels are winners with very realistic a believable characters, strong storylines with a hot romance. I’ve never been disappointed with anything she’s written that I’ve been fortunate enough to have read. They are thrilling, edgy and suspenseful enough to keep you glued to you Kindle!
A quick but intense read
Cruz goes undercover with the Red Brothers MC in the hopes of finding out where and how the drugs that the MC are bringing in and who their supplier is. He’s only supposed to be undercover for a short amount of time, but unfortunately things get complicated and quickly. He’s supposed to get close to Angel, the MC Prez’s girl but Cruz quickly discovers she doesn’t know much and then he meets her sister Mickie and everything changes
Mickie is trying to protect her sister Angel from Ransom, the MC President, but her sister ignores her and Mickie isn’t quite sure what to do. When she meets Cruz, her life changes in a good way but her sister is still her main concern.
A really intense and quick read, but I loved this story as it combined my favourite genres together
2,5 stars
After reading and enjoying ‘Justice for Mackenzie’, the first book in this series. I got curious about the second book so I just decided to read it.
When Cruz gets the chance to infiltrate into a motorcycle club who is under suspicion of dealing drugs, he takes the job. Because he knows from personal experience what drugs can do to people. But the last thing that Cruz expects when he goes undercover, is that he will meet a woman that makes his heart beats faster. Not only is the timing all wrong but Mickie’s sister Angel is also in a relationship with the president of the MC. Mickie isn’t happy about her sister’s new boyfriend and tries to convince her sister to leave him. Which makes her not very popular within the club. Soon things are getting more and more out of control. So now, Cruz doesn’t only has to do his job of finding evidence against the club but he also has to protect Mickie and her sister against them. But that’s not all, Mickie doesn’t know that Cruz is a FBI agent or that he is undercover. To her, he’s just a guy who she met and fell for. What will Mickie do when she discovers that Cruz has lied to her. And that he’s in some way involved with the motorcycle club? Can she forgive him for lying to her?
Just like in the first book, both character are a bit older. That’s something that I liked, they also felt ‘real’, they had their insecurities, their good and bad sides. I liked that and the story is again told from both POV’s. But I must say that I didn’t enjoy this story as much as I did the first one. I liked the characters and their interactions but I think that for me, there was a bit too much focus on Cruz undercover job and a bit less interaction between him and Mickie. I can understand that the writer wanted us to know how bad the guys from the motorcycle club were, so we had to know the club very well. But the romance got a bit on the background for me, personally.
I liked how Cruz and Mickie met and the ending of the story but I liked the middle of the story less. It lost my attention for a bit there.
I would like to start by saying, I am a hugh fan of Ms. Stoker’s books. That being said I had a hard time getting into this one until about halfway through. I would have liked a little more action and suspense. The romance between Cruz and Mickie was hot and sexy. But the whole thing with the MC turned me off. Like I said though, when I got to about the middle of the story where the suspense and action started the story took a turn and got interesting. All in all I am glad I gave it a shot and didn’t stop reading it until the end.
Working to fight the illegal drug trade, Cruz goes undercover with the Red Brothers and the story definitely shows a darker side of an MC.
Mickie tries to stop her sister from making some very bad decisions and get her away from the Red Brothers MC. Cruz wants to protect Mickie from this dark world, but she is drawn closer and closer by her sister’s choices.
“I love you, Mickie. It has to be love. I’ve spent my whole life waiting for you.”
I enjoyed Justice for Mickie. It did touch on some difficult topics to read about…drugs, violence, and lots of secrets.
-4 Stars!-
You just cannot go wrong with a Stoker read!
I’m really loving this series. The intense drama that came with the confrontation in the MC kept me on edge. Not as tear-jerking and the first book but just as great. Now on to the next one in the series!!
Did you read my previous review where I stated this series will send me binge reading?
Well it did. I immediately started Justice for Mickie as soon as I finished Justice for Mackenzie and again.. Not. Disappointed.
Mickie is trying to save her sister from herself as well from making a mistake with her new boyfriend Ransom who is the president of an MC. Well, not just any MC, but the worst that San Antonio has. While trying to save her sister she meets and begins dating Cruz Livingston. The FBI agent who is undercover trying to bring down the ruthless MC. Except Mickie doesn’t know that. Will she still want him once she finds out who he really is?
I’m loving the suspense part of this series, A LOT. But what I’m liking most about this series is that the characters are older. There’s not playing around with what they want in each other. The other pro in this series, the heroines are strong. They don’t shy away from both getting their hands dirty and sticking up for themselves. These ladies demonstrate that behind every alpha male, there’s a female who stands next to him, not behind them.
Susan Stoker has officially been added to my auto-buy, author love list. Can’t wait to see what’s in store for this crew that comes together when crisis is the highest.
In the meantime, I will continue my binge read… Let’s see what happens with SAPD falls in love, blindly.
