Daxton Chambers loved being a part of the oldest and most distinguished law enforcement agency in the state of Texas…the Texas Rangers. But whoever was burying women alive in his city of San Antonio was always two steps ahead of him…and he hated it.
Mackenzie Morgan lived what she considered a normal life. She worked at a non-profit agency, hung out with her best friend, had an annoying, but … annoying, but loving, family, was clumsy, had a tendency to ramble when she was nervous…and was still searching for the man to spend the rest of her life with.
Meeting Mack, and finding out just how perfect she was for him, wasn’t a part of Dax’s plan…but he’d be damned if he was going to complain about it. Unfortunately, Dax’s job wasn’t always safe…Both Mack and Dax would find that out the hard way.
**Justice for Mackenzie is the 1st book in the Badge of Honor: Texas Heroes Series. Each book is a stand-alone, with no cliffhanger endings.

“Justice for Mackenzie” is the first book in the Badge of Honor: Texas Heroes series, and what a way to start a series. This is the story of Mackenzie “Mack” Morgan and Daxton “Dax” Chambers. Mack is lovable, sweet and a little quirky, she has a tendency to ramble on and on. Dax is a Texas Ranger and has friends in a lot of different law enforcement agencies. When the case Dax is now working on gets personal, as in wanting to hurt the people Dax loves, it will take him and all of his friends to bring it to an end.
Great start and I cannot wait to read the rest of this series!
they meet at a charity event He is a Texas Ranger She manages a care organization He is intrigued and wants very much to get to know her She watches him from a distance so they go on to many dates to count they have sizzling romance but the case he is working on the guy gets a hold of her so he bands together with everyone he knows in the different branches of law enforcement his buddy from the FBI finds her there is a happy ending
I can always count on a good story from Susan Stoker and this book did not disappoint. Brilliant characters, excellent plot that kept my interest from start to finish.
Loved Daxton and Mackenzie, great romantic suspense
Texas Ranger Daxton Chambers, at 46,is married to his job. He thought he found love once, but it didn’t work out. He has some really good friends and is content.
Mackenzie Chambers works for a Austin non profit helping the cities citizens in need. Still single at 37. She isn’t good at relationships. She nitpicks until she drives the man away.
The petite, curvy catches Daxton’s eye at a charity event. She is gone before he can exchange more than a few word. Not long after he encounters her again at a traffic stop and can’t get her off his mind. He asks her out.
Mack is nervous and is afraid that she will run Daxton off. Her runaway mouth, tells him all. Dax loves that about her. Their first date leaves them both wanting more.
A serial killer is on the loose. He is taunting the task force that is investigating and Dax in particular. Then Mack becomes a target. Dax and his team take her safety seriously. Mack follows their directions, but she is taken.
It is a race to get to her before she ends up buried alive.
Fast pace and a little steamy romantic suspense.
I got chocked up a couple times while Dax was trying to soothe Mack while on the phone. Wow. Just wow. This story is crazy. But this shit Halle s in real life so it’s believable. Mack meets Dax through a charity then again when she is pulled over by a mutual firms TJ. He is relentless for her and they soon get together. But all the while Him and his fellow enforcement buddies are hunting a serial killer who buried his victims alive. He then takes an interest in Dax and Mack and the hunt is on to catch the killer before they lose Mack.
Been a while since I read and didn’t leave a review. There’s plenty of action and supsense. Excellent read.
Dax and Mack(enzie) meet at a charity event briefly, only to reconnect later in a pretty adorable way. Mack is so funny in that she says whatever is on her mind and Dax doesn’t mind one bit. I really like that they are both older, so they are more mature and took the time to get to know each other before jumping into bed. They made their intentions clear that they would get there, but it was just a good read in that they dated and got to know each other. The suspense portion of the book….my heart broke right along with them. I definitely recommend this book and will continue to read this series.
This is a fun and exciting read with action, some danger and plenty of love. Susan Stoker really has a way with her words that brings her books to life for me. The characters are just so easy to like they have some great chemistry.
Daxton Chambers a Texas Ranger is dealing with the case of the deranged Lone Star Reaper and he isn’t exactly looking for a relationship but When he meets the intriguing MacKenzie Morgan she peeks his interest. But when you are hunting a killer that can put a target on anyone you care for. That is just the start of a great story it kept me hooked and on the edge of my seat well worth the read. I absolutely loved this book and highly recommend it.
Really loved this book. They seem like an unlikely duo but the chemistry is hot and sizzles. The bad guy sets his sights on hurting the lawman and the suspense is great. I love mystery and excitement along with my sexy, sweet romance.
Been a while since I read and didn’t leave a review. There’s plenty of action and supsense. Excellent read.
A excellent story and beginning to another series. I have read the SEAL of Protection and Delta Force series so I have met some of the characters before. We are in a different town, San Antonio, and instead of working as a team the men and women work in various areas of the law / emergency services. The dynamics are little different.
For me this story had a taste of horror with the being buried alive. It did give me the ebbygebbys. But the characters are solid and likeable. I am looking forward to getting to know them better.
Quite a disturbing read involving the crazy psyche of a serial killer. Mackenzie and Daxton deserve any happiness after that harrowing encounter.
Justice for Mackenzie was my first Sunsan Stoker book. I listened to the audiobook and I was hooked from the start. I liked that the depth of the main characters and the fact that they are mature and older (Dax is 46, Mackenzie 37).
Dax and Mackenzie meet at a charity event. Their connection is instant and they are clearly meant to be together. Until Dax’s work interferes.
The build-up and the suspense are phenomenal. The story felt real and not rushed despite the drama unfolding at Dax’s work. Every detail worked, and it was impossible to put down.
It’s Susan Stoker! What else is there to say!
Susan did it again, this is such a good book that you want put it down until you finish it. It keeps you on your toes. The characters are great. If you love romance you need to read this book.
This is one of my favorites of all of the books I’ve read that Susan Stoker has written (and just all of the books I’ve read totally). I love that Mackenzie is curvy, funny and quirky; and Daxton is a handsome and awesome Texas Ranger; and also that they are both just a little older, not twenty-something. Dax is dealing with trying to catch a psycho serial killer, and unfortunately Mack gets on his radar because she is dating Dax. So, of course, being a Susan Stoker book, there is action, romance, humor and great banter between characters. I couldn’t put it down, Ms. Stoker is brilliant.
