Mousey, overweight Stacey Sullivan would love to trade places with her glamorous socialite BFF, Jessica James—that’s until she discovers Jessica murdered in her own home. Whip-smart detective Rachel Storme is ready to exchange her gun and badge for a gardener’s hat and hoe. But she reluctantly puts her plans on hold when she’s asked to help solve Jessica’s murder. These two strangers from … different generations—Stacey a millennial and Rachel a baby boomer—become unlikely friends in their pursuit of JUSTICE FOR JESSICA. But their friendship is put to the test when Stacey insists that her husband, Matt, is innocent in spite of evidence that speaks to the contrary. Rachel, baffled by Stacey’s blind loyalty to Matt, doggedly fights to take Matt down, but with Stacey’s help, he eludes her at every turn. Is Matt the killer or could Grant, Jessica’s husband, be the culprit? Perhaps it was her jealous sister, Georgette or the maid, Rosa? No matter who the killer is, Rachel, by any means necessary, is determined to find her man or woman.

Just when you think you have it figured out You dont…great book
Just when you think you know who done it something else happens and you are wrong. It was entertaining and the characters were believable. Many twists and turns in this mystery.
A good story, but too verbose. Should have been edited down about 25%
excellent read, good from beginning to end!
An enjoyable crime-fighting book with a strong female lead. This is a great who-done-it that is hard to put down!
A great justice for all story. It’s good to know there are good people still in the public
Had trouble putting down this book. Kept my attention all the way through.
A who-done-it with a twist, the murderer is someone I never suspected until the very end, good reading!
Just a great read, great plot. Wonderful story.
Wouldn’t have expected the ending at all. I thought I had the killer pinpointed, but was so, so wrong.
another good one – I recommend it – had lots of twists to it.
Loved it Highly recommend it.
This is the first mystery in a new series. I love Detective Rachel Storm and her partner Herb. They portray a work couple that seem married…the office wife versus the real wife….without playing footsie. Seems realistic when your partner has a gun to back you up.
The murder is interesting and the fact that Jessica is murdered in the guest bedroom and not her master bedroom leads to questions.
The only complaint is about Stacy, Jessica’s best friend, and her involvement in solving the crime. Stacy hates her job, is married to Matt…. an iffy husband… and is overweight. I just don’t get Rachel involving her in the capture if the killer. And it seemed out if character for a straight shooter like Rachel.
Plenty of suspects keep you involved in the case as does the relationship between Rachel and her mother. Her mom is suffering from the onset of Alzheimer’s. I didn’t guess who the killer is till near the end of the book…it is well written. I have down the loaded her second in the series as I like Detective Rachel Storm and I want to see her pulled back into an investigstion. This is more a cosy read BUT on a day off, that is what the brain needs, something of a puzzle but not too intense for fun enjoyment
Great book. I just couldn’t put it down.
I really liked reading this book
it was okay.
It was a good book. I usually can figure out “who done it” before the ending, but not this one.
It was boring. The characters were not likeable.
All the characters are well developed. Stacey was a most interesting character, Detective Rachael Storme is a strong woman, and I loved her character. I am looking forward to the rest of the series. I. also. hope we see more of Stacey. I wonder what happens to her next.
Gripping and it will keep you on yout toes. Good read.
