In a bit of a twist, Justice for Boone deals with domestic abuse and the victim is a male. Although not commonplace abused husbands and boyfriends are out there. Most are reluctant to report it because they think it reflects on their masculinity. Boone Hatcher has a crazed ex-girlfriend who has to great lengths in denying that their relationship is over including accusing him of domestic violence. Deputy Hayden Yates responds to a domestic disturbance call and quickly figures out the purported victim is lying. Never in a thousand years did Hayden think she would find the love of her life while on a xall. Boone knows that Hayden fascinates him in ways he never imagined. He seems to ve the only man that has ever really “seen” Hayden. While he’s an Alpha and a protector, Hayden has to convince him that she’s well equipped to keep him safe his ex’s escalating behavior.
“Justice for Boone” is the sixth book in the Badge of Honor: Texas Heroes series and it is the story of Sheriff Deputy Hayden Yates and cowboy Boone Hatcher. If you have been reading this series as I have, Hayden has appeared in the other books as well, seeming to be a professional, independent and strong woman. I didn’t realize until this book how lonely she really is, how she doesn’t feel feminine because of the job she does and the way her coworkers treat her. That is all about to change when they have to go to a domestic violence call. An ex-girlfriend is accusing Boone of assaulting her and the men are all for lets take him in, but Hayden sees things in a different perspective than they do. Wonder who is right?
Every book I read by Susan Stoker becomes my new favorite and this one is no different. I loved Hayden and Boone together.
He is a hard working ranch owning guy who has a exgirlfriend who wont let him go She is a sheriff deputy who sees through her story and arrests her He will not touch the Ex because of what he saw in his childhood She documents everything He sees the real want to be loved woman in the deputy they have sizzling romance but then the Ex threatens her again and He wants to deal with the Ex his own way that doesn’t go well but eventually the Ex is caught and they have a happy ever after author does a great job with a sensitive topic
It was cool to have the interesting twist of issues from the damsel in distress. Not that Boone was necessarily in distress (kind of). He was the victim of abuse from a psycho ex who couldn’t let it go. Hayden the tough as nail sheriff deputy was on the scene and quickly saw through his ex’s lies of abuse and self harm to her Boone into trouble and apprehended the true criminal. They had instant chemistry and it was nice to see the gooey center under Hayden’s job performance. Plus I have decided her parents are complete asses. Like 100%. Love that despite his stance on never hurting a women he would protect Hayden with his life and was still very alpha.
A very well written story with all the tidbits you know the author is capable of. Boone and Hayden just belong together – both of them knowing and mit fighting it.
I wasn’t completely sure about this story in the beginning. Then I couldn’t put it down until the last word. With a kind of fatal attraction backdrop & heat coming off the pages, I loved Boone & Hayden.
This was another wonderful story from Susan. She touches on so many different social subjects with each of her series. This one was great because like she states in the book we don’t hear about abuse against men from the women in their lives. She has a hit on it in one of her other series but this is dealing with up it up close and personal. Hayden is the tough sheriff officer but she really would like to find love and romance like so many of the LEO’s that she works with. But she has always put the tough girl persona out there and this book tells you why. But when she is called out to assist on a domestic call she shows her fellow officers that big touch guys can be accused of abusing a woman and not actually do it. I am so happy with this story and look to more books.
Hayden finds a man of her own
Hayden has been a very prominent character in the Badge of Honor series but is finally coming into her own with this story
Hayden gets called in to help with a domestic issue not far from where she’s currently located. When she gets her first look at the man, allegedly for hitting his girlfriend, she’s instantly attracted to him and admits to herself he’s the most gorgeous man she’s ever seen Hayden assesses the situation and soon realises not everything is as it seems.
Boone is very aware of the deputy sheriff that comes in to assist with his ex-girlfriend’s accusation and is certain he will be going to jail….but when the attractive deputy starts asking random questions and asks him to show her around the property, he’s left with an attraction to the woman the size of Texas and he’s hoping for the best result but ultimately knows how these things usually pan out
The result of this interaction between Boone and Hayden leads to a relationship that will melt your heart and you might very well move to Texas…to find yourself your own cowboy just like Hayden did
Another winner by the fabulous Ms Stoker. I was thrilled to be invited to read this one early.
This is the story of Boone the cattle ranch cowboy and Hayden the cop. Hayden is seen as one of the boys and so insecure in her femininity. Then she meets Boone while on the job investigating the harassment by his ex.
Boone is the one to bring out the hidden woman and sweep her off her feet. So many feels in this book, I laughed, got teary and at one point thinking shoot the b*tch…not Hayden, you’ll have to read it to see what I mean.
Their journey of love was an absolute pleasure to read and OMG the ending, I can’t wait for the next one.
As every book by Susan Stoker I read, this one does her work justice. A fast pacing story, full of action, suspense and love. Sheriff’s Deputy Hayden Yates meets Boone Hatcher when responding to a call about domestic violence.
But not all is what it seems, and Hayden would stake her reputation on it as she talks to Hatcher and then walks through his house. Confronting the accuser Hayden breaks it down and rather then Hatcher being placed under arrest the accuser is.
Little by little Boone gets more and more involved with Hayden, and Dana his ex is right there stalking and threatening both of them. The story continues to take us through their romance and Dana escalations.
Loved the story it was well write, fast and suspenseful.
Best in series so far
For those that know me Contemporary Romance is not my top pick in genres to read, but I do pick them up every now and then. I have to say this is my favorite from Ms. Stoker that I’ve read so far.
Hayden is a Deputy Sheriff. Tuff, strong, and an independent women who is more like one of the guys then a women, but she still is feminine.
Boone is a cowboy, takes great care of his ranch, those that work for him, and has a strong moral code of not hitting a women for any reason.
Hayden and Boone were an interesting couple to fall in love with. Hayden meets Boone when she’s called out to his place for domestic violence, but he’s the victim although it takes her showing up to show the others that that is the case. Yes, men can be abused too.
The domestic violence and a female police offer just added to the story. There was a balance; between their pasts, what they do now, and what is happening around them. Hayden showed her femininity and Boone his masculinity. Their roles didn’t define them anymore then their gender. I liked this. Liked the role-reversal. Liked the story. Liked how everything played together and made this couple one of my favorites to enjoy. It was sweet and adorable.
Note: Can be read as a stand alone. Books in this series do not have to be read in order.

Justice For Boone is such a great book!! I was sucked into the story like I always am with Susan Stoker stories!! For me, a well written book turns into a movie in my brain as I read it. This is what happened with this book! It is a page turner! I couldn’t put it down!!
Hayden is a tough as nails, tomboy, sheriffs deputy. She is sent out on a call and meets a gorgeous guy. Only Hayden is able to see what really went on with this call, and truth and justice prevails! Unfortunately, the person who made the false police report is non other than Boones ex-girlfriend. Things get worse and worse, until there is the super showdown. Who wins? Who dies? Who gets the smack down?? You really have to read this book to find out.
This book is another hit by Susan Stoker, and she hit it out of the park!! You can’t go wrong with this book!!
I loved how the author portrayed Boone in this book as being a victim of domestic abuse, yet still retained his alpha, tough guy person. His only fault was he refused to hit a woman under any circumstance! I agree with Hay in the book, sometimes a woman needs to be cold-cocked! There are those kinds of people out there! The way Boone was written, he was attracted to Hay from the start and willing to do what it took to keep her safe, even though she was the one who carried the gun! Hayden was great as a tough sheriff’s deputy while still having a feminine side that Boone was able to see, even though others missed it! The tease at the end with Crash…sigh!
Received an ARC for an honest review.
Susan Stoker’s world is just freaking awesome. Another story of true love and the journey there.
Hayden has been feeling out of sorts since her friends are finding love and the feelings of loneliness are affecting her more than she likes.
While on a domestic abuse call that Hayden feels is bogus she meets Boone and feels drawn to him. Boone is reeling from the allegations of his psycho ex but connects with Hayden despite feeling overwhelmed.
Hayden has never been able to please her father and has spent her entire life suppressing her femininity trying to be the son he always wanted. With no female friends she struggles trying to find that feminine side she desperately wants to show Boone.
How does a nurturing man and a self reliant woman work? By having Susan Stoker tell a beautiful story.
