He’s the guy she loves to hate. Emma Lindsor is a whipsmart, coffee-addicted, Austen-reading book snob, and she won’t apologize for it. Not even when she’s forced to appear on a panel of writers with her archnemesis, loudmouth Aidan Maxwell, a wildly successful bestseller thanks to his lowbrow crime thrillers. His books outsell hers by millions, but even though he’s the hottest thing in … though he’s the hottest thing in bookstores, Emma loathes everything he stands for: pretentious leather jackets, movie star good looks, shallow celebrity. And his books! Shudder. Car chases? Explosions? Blonde bombshell detectives? So gross.
But Emma is finally on the verge of everything she’s ever wanted: all she needs for her new book to become The Next Big Thing is for New York’s most respected critic, Luther Van Dijk, to give it his stamp of approval. Maybe then her famous mother will take Emma’s writing career seriously.
One big problem: Aidan Maxwell blocks her at every turn. And the more they fight, the more she realizes that there’s more to Aidan than a distractingly handsome face.
As their paths keep crossing and sparks fly, can they see past their hardwired ideas to star in a love story all their own?
This laugh-out-loud story is the feel-good romance you’ve been waiting for. Grab your copy today and fall in love with Emma and Aidan!
***** 5 Stars! Enemies-to-lovers is one of my favorite romance tropes but so few authors can pull it off successfully. This one totally succeeds! Needless to say, this is on my list of re-readables, but it’s also on my short list for Best of 2019!-Vibliophile, reviewer

I thorougly enjoyed this enemies-to-lovers story!
I had a lot of fun getting to know Emma and Aiden – there was a lot of witty banter, some truly funny moments, some truly swoony moments, and some serious (if sometimes a little grudging 🙂 ) growth.
I’m looking forward to reading more books in the series!
I enjoyed watching Emma break out of her mould and find herself and her writing style. Her interactions with Aidan are feisty, witty and their opposites styles help each other create beautiful stories.
I just finished reading A is for Author (The ABCs of Love) by Brenna Jacobs. This book was so good, I couldn’t put it down. The characters were well developed and grew throughout the story. I enjoyed the humor and the incredible details that went into the storyline and kept it interesting and moving along.
If you like happily ever after (HEA) endings with humor and a well-developed journey to get there, this book is for you.
This enemies to friends was okay, I was able to finish it. They spent so much time at odds, apologizing that it didn’t seem real that they worked through all that so fast, especially Emma. It started well then dragged along (kinda boringly) and sped to the end, still not sure why that stuff with her mom was needed since it didn’t address their relationship issues. I did warm up to Aidan but Emma seems very insecure in all areas of her life.
Wow! I REALLY enjoyed this book! And I’m not sure why it surprised me so much. This is a new author for me, the cover piqued my interest and the blurb enticed me further. There was conflict from the off, which was right up my street! The characters grabbed me straight away, I was quickly inside their heads and I loved them both. The characters are both writers and as I writer myself, I really enjoyed their different approaches to their craft – I got where they were both coming from! This was a sweet, touching, and beautifully written story – would highly recommend.
I liked the how Emma and Aidan brought out the best in each other, and how the story kept building.
Love Aiden and Emma!
I was so happy to discover this “new” author, not only was her book witty, but it was also romantic. I loved the banter between the two MCs–I honestly laughed out loud so many times. Highly recommend this sweet rom-com.
I adored this book. The pacing was impeccable, each page left me wanting more, and the chemistry between Emma and Aiden was completely believable. These main characters were so nuanced and authentic. And the plot was deep and had a substance that is hard to find. One of my favorite books all year!
This is my first book by this author. I read a snippet at the end of a different book and decided to buy it. I’m glad I did. There were great characters I could relate to, believable challenges, and of course a great payoff at the end.
This was a clean romance with great chemistry but nothing that should remain behind closed doors.
I’m giving this one a full 5 stars (which is rare for romance from me) because it was well edited, nothing jerked me out of the story, it was believable while still being sweet. Plus, I read it in a day.
1-5 scale and what it means:
1: I couldn’t even finish it / just plain bad
2: I hope I didn’t pay for this / disappointing
3: I didn’t hate it, but it was still missing something / forgettable but inoffensive
3.5: On the line between good and ok / like, not love
4: Solid mind candy / worth reading
4.5: So very close to perfection! / must read
5: I could not put it down and I’m still thinking about it! / a true treasure
Movie Ratings in relation to my review:
Clean–Hallmark movies, some kissing, no nudity, no sex on or off “screen”
PG–Some innuendo but nothing kids don’t hear every day, sex is all closed door
PG-13–some language (swear words not related to sex), more talk about sex, heavy petting, removal of clothing on screen, but sex is closed door.
PG-14—somewhere between PG-13 and R. Not erotica, but at least a paragraph of on-screen sex
R–swearing (F-bomb, on “screen” sex, sometimes feels like the whole story is about the sex and not the relationship or some other plot, but not always
Great read. I’m definitely looking forward to more books from Brenna Jacobs!
