Addison Murphy is the funny friend, the girl you grab a beer with–the girl voted most likely to start her own sweatshirt line. And now that one of her best guy friends is getting married, she’ll add “groomsman” to that list, too. She’ll get through this wedding if it’s the last thing she does. Just don’t ask her to dive for any bouquet. When Tucker Crawford returns to his small hometown, he … hometown, he expects to see the same old people, feel comfort in the same old things. He certainly doesn’t expect to see the nice pair of bare legs sticking out from under the hood of a broken-down car. Certainly doesn’t expect to feel his heart beat faster when he realizes they belong to one of his best friends.
If he convinces Addie to give him a chance, they could be electric…or their breakup could split their tight-knit group in two.
Hiding the way he feels from the guys through bachelor parties, cake tastings, and rehearsals is one thing. But just as Tucker realizes that Addie truly could be the perfect woman for him–he was just too stupid to realize it–now she’s leaving to follow her own dreams. He’s going to need to do a lot of compromising if he’s going to convince her to take a shot at forever with him–on her terms this time.

In this friends to lovers story, Addison ‘Addie’ Murphy or Murph is one of the lads.
All through school, the group including Tucker, Shep, Easton and Ford have been as thick as thieves, but none more so than Addie and Tucker.
They all head off to college and come back to town, all grown up and pillars of the community.
That is except Tucker, who, after law school found a job in a town a few hours away from their home town of Uncertainty, Alabama.
On a scheduled return trip Tucker, Addie and the others celebrate the announcement of one of their own’s impending nuptials and of course the part, of Groomsmen, they’ve all to play, Addie included!
Neither Addie or Tucker are prepared for the change in their feelings for the other and often revert to the relationship of their past, getting into trouble and having a laugh along the way.
This is a slllllooooowww burn novel and if you enjoy the anticipation these offer, then this is for you! Cindi Madsen manages to maintain the reader’s interest in her witty dialogue and the antics of her characters.
A fun and, at times, hilarious journey to HEA.
I sincerely hope that there will be further novels featuring residents of Uncertainty.
I received an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
I thought that this was a pretty good book. I laughed and I cried, and of course I swooned! My heart broke for Addison at one point in the story (no spoilers here!), I could feel all of the emotions like I was a fly on the wall! I hope there are follow up books to this one because I am not ready to let Addison and Tucker go!
This for me is another win for Cindi Madsen. Really adored this book and the setting.Sweet, friends to lover story with humor and some funny awkward and also smexy stuff.I think what I like most about her books that they are light and fun and her characters are always relatable, both guys and girls. Also no matter how many times it has been done and written, in this case friends to lover, she always finds a new fresh sweet twist with each book.I loved both, Tucker a bit more than Addison but not by much, both stole my heart, Of course their surrounding cast was also amazing and equally important.Overall, a fun, sweet and sexy read that I really, really enjoyed.I rate it 5
When a story tugs at my emotions, it means I’ve really connected with the characters and their story. That’s exactly what happened with this book. It’s the story of a lifelong tomboy and her best friends –four guys who treat her like one of the guys. That is until one of the guys no longer wants to treat her like just one of the guys. It’s a well-written friends to more story, filled with the right amounts of true friendship, laughs, tears, romance and drama, in a small town where everyone knows your business. I loved all of the sassiness and banter between Addie and Tucker and rooted hard for them to succeed in crossing over permanently from the friend zone to the couple zone without damaging their perfect friendship circle. You’ll find yourself rooting for them, too.
I received an ARC of this book and wrote my honest review voluntarily.
Cindi Madsen is the queen of feel good books. She writes these amazing characters that I can relate too, and feel for. This is the perfect vacation read, fun, uplifting, sexy and filled with good vibes.
This book centers around a man Tucker, who left his small town to practice law at a big city law firm only to find it didn’t make him happy. He moves back home and runs into a pair of sexy legs sticking out from under a car that happen to belong to his childhood BFF and one of “the boys”. This attraction just can’t be, it might ruin their group dynamic, right? Addie, the girl with the legs is a tomboy to the bone. She has some tingly feelings of her own that don’t go with the BFF one of the boys history. On top of that one of the boys is getting married and he wants Addie to be a “Groomsman”, which is why she was wearing the dress under the car. The struggle is real, trying to stay in the friend zone while the tingles are happening and getting stronger. Fun times, watching them fight not to cross lines, knowing it’s inevitable. These two fight a good snarky fight.
The other characters in the book all support the story perfectly. Each character’s personality was developed and each had their own little moments. The friendship tis group has is so positive and uplifting.
Feel good baby ! Yes I ended it with a smile.
I received this book from the author for an honest review.
Addie has been one of the guys for as long as anyone can remember. However they are growing up and girlfriends are coming into the picture and she is having to realize that this isn’t the norm and deal with the fallout. The first in their group pops the question and convinces his fiance to allow Addie to be a groomsman.
Not only is this change happening but also one the guys, Tucker is moving home and she starts to see him in a different light. He has always been the one she got into trouble with as a kid/teen but now things just seem different.
Tucker feels it too, but do you take a chance with someone who your grew up with and is your best friend just to see if you can work. What if things don’t go well?
I adored this couple. The author did an amazing job at pulling the reader in to make them understand the friendship between these two characters and also with the group. My heart hurt for both parties when decisions were being made and hurt words were being said. Mrs. Madsen made you feel for these characters and made you completely invested in the outcome.
Addie is just one if the guys. She’s the only girl in their little group. She is not a girly girl and can get down and dirty with the rest of them. When one of her friends announces he’s getting married, he want them all to be his groomsmen. Even Addie but she’ll have to be on the bridesmaid side. Tucker is a lawyer a couple of hours away and he and Addie have been best friends since they were little. Now he’s quit his job and is moving back. Tucker starts noticing little things about Addie and they end up crossing the line, by getting involved. But when a great job opportunity comes up, could Tucker and Addie lose their relationship and friendship to her moving away?
Funny. Sexy. I absolutely loved this story. I believe this is the first time reading Ms. Madsen’s books but if they are like this one, not the last. A town too nosy, a slightly wild grandmother, and best friends everyone needs.
* Voluntarily read and reviewed this for NetGalley *
This was a feel good friends to lovers, the growing up pain when things change and what to do about it. I loved the story, the commradery of all the “guys” and most of the events.
There was the emotional turmoil which got rather old after repeating a few times and it loses my interest when all the mind thoughts take over, getting nowhere, so I may have skipped a few pages, but that may be my impatience.
This was about Tucker and Addison as the mains, but had a lot of Shep and Lexi with their wedding being planned. Addison and Lexi became friends, so all around I liked that those two got to be good female friends, something new and good for Addie.
There was a lot of humor infused throughout, which I love, and always adds goodness to anything.
I received an ARC thru NetGalley and am giving my honest thoughts freely
This book had me smiling the whole time I was reading it. Addy and Tucker are one of the best friends-to-lovers couples I’ve read about. All their banter and the way their relationship progressed seemed completely natural and never felt forced. I also liked that there wasn’t a ton of angst in this book and most of the issues that came up for them as a couple were completely natural—their friends finding out, Tucker’s lingering issues from his parents divorce, Addy feeling like she wasn’t girly enough for him, etc. They were both stubborn but, with a little help from their friends, they finally begin to stop doubting themselves.
I also loved all the supporting characters in this book. The guys-Ford, Easton, and Shep were great friends to both Addy and Tucker. Lexi, Shep’s fiancé, was the complete opposite of Addy, and it was great seeing how, after a pretty rough start, they became friends despite their differences. Also, Addy’s grandmother was hilarious.
Definitely recommend this book!
This book is laugh out loud funny, and sweet and all the things a good romance book should be. I really enjoyed it!
Addison Murphy is just one of the guys, one you can hang out with, watch football and drink beer with. A girl who is not girly and will simply punch you if it suits her. One of her guy friends is getting married and wants her to be one of his groomsmen. She will get through this ordeal but only for Shep, wearing a dress and all.
Tucker Crawford returns to Uncertainly, his small hometown, he knows he will see his old friends again. But when he sees a pair of sexy legs sticking out from underneath a broken down car, he doesn’t expect them to belong to his best friend, Addie.
He needs to convince her to give them a chance. But they have to hide it from the other guys, if they don’t work out then the guys will make him pay and he loses his best friend. Tucker soon realizes that Addie is all he ever wanted and could be the perfect one for him but has to let her go so she can leave town and follow her dreams. Its going to take a lot of pleading and compromising on his part to convince her to give them a shot at HEA.
When one of the clan is ready to get hitched, Addie, the only girl of their group of friends, will be asked to be one of the groomsmen. Tucker, the one friend who was living out of town, decides to come back in the midst of it all and their relationship will take a turn into something else.
The story is cute and laugh out funny, my first read by the author and, though I was very attracted by the blurb and the lovely cover, I was a tad disappointed by the delivery.
It’s a friend to lovers with the potential of a great story, nice characters one can very much relate to and a wonderful banter, because Addie is a tomboy who can give as good as she can take and Tucker knows her well enough to not back down from the challenge. The secondary characters and the situations are also an attractive addition to the plot.
On the downside, it’s long and it dragged on and on which made me lose interest and finish it just because I’m stubborn like that.
3 stars
Love the title! I found this book very entertaining. I laughed all through it. If you want happy, laugh out loud funny, you’ll enjoy this book.
Honest confession: I didn’t expect to like this as much as I did. Romance novels are a great break and I usually use them as a kind of palate cleanser. I picked this one up on sale and decided to read it on a whim.
Man, that has been one of the best decisions I’ve made in a while!
I love tomboy characters (being one myself) so I knew I would enjoy reading this but I had no idea HOW MUCH I would enjoy it. It was wonderful. I love Addie and Tucker’s whole group of friends. They’re distinct but mesh well together. And Lexie seemed to slot right in. The will-they-won’t-they tension between Tucker and Addie worked beautifully. It was just right. I never once felt like the pacing was off. The flow kept me turning page after page.
Watching Addie flourish was a magical thing, too. It was subtle and understated and perfect for the atmosphere and her character. She bloomed more than had an arc; it was so heartwarming. And that’s really what I was left with after finishing the story: warmth and a smile.
I cannot wait to see more of these characters. I’m particularly intrigued by Easton but I’d happily read Ford’s story, too!
Kept you guessing!
One of the best books I have enjoyed reading
Very entertaining
Great read, the storyline pulled me in and and I really enjoyed the book
Id give more than five stars if I could! Wonderful book.
What a very fun, and funny, rom-com! Just One of the Groomsmen is about a group of people who have been best friends for all, or most of, their lives. There is one girl among them, but you’d better not point it out or she’ll show you how unladylike she can be. This group is very protective of one another and they don’t open their circle for very many people. But suddenly, the group is feeling growing pains as one of them is about to get married. In the midst of all of this, Tucker comes home after a two-year stint as a lawyer in the big city and the first thing he notices is Addie looking very un-Addie like. In fact, he can’t stop thinking about how she looks. Addie is happy to have her very best friend back home to stay, but she can’t analyze that too much. She starts to feel a little differently about Tucker, but she knows she can’t show it or it will ruin their lifelong friendship and she absolutely will not risk that! It’s fun to watch the relationship progress, or sometimes regress, as this story unfolds. This is one bunch that you truly wish you were part of. If you like Sweet Home Alabama you’ll enjoy this one, for sure!
