Addison Murphy is the funny friend, the girl you grab a beer with–the girl voted most likely to start her own sweatshirt line. And now that one of her best guy friends is getting married, she’ll add “groomsman” to that list, too. She’ll get through this wedding if it’s the last thing she does. Just don’t ask her to dive for any bouquet. When Tucker Crawford returns to his small hometown, he … hometown, he expects to see the same old people, feel comfort in the same old things. He certainly doesn’t expect to see the nice pair of bare legs sticking out from under the hood of a broken-down car. Certainly doesn’t expect to feel his heart beat faster when he realizes they belong to one of his best friends.
If he convinces Addie to give him a chance, they could be electric…or their breakup could split their tight-knit group in two.
Hiding the way he feels from the guys through bachelor parties, cake tastings, and rehearsals is one thing. But just as Tucker realizes that Addie truly could be the perfect woman for him–he was just too stupid to realize it–now she’s leaving to follow her own dreams. He’s going to need to do a lot of compromising if he’s going to convince her to take a shot at forever with him–on her terms this time.

I really enjoyed this book a lot. I love a good friends to lovers story. Addie is not the stereotypical woman. She’s her own woman who happens to be best friends with four guys. You can easily see how close this group of friends is. People think that Addie is odd the way she acts and how not girly she is. That’s what I loved about her so much she’s conformable being herself and who wouldn’t want to have group of friends that have your back no questions asked? People are now looking at her strangely because she’s going to be a one f the groomsmen for her friend’s wedding. The characters in this one drew me right into the book. I laughed quite often while reading this book. I really loved Addie and Tucker’s special bond and you can really feel it once he moves back. Tucker is realizing all that he has missed while he was away and Addie being a main one. It’s not going to be easy for these two because their putting their long time friendship plus their group of friends on the line. As I was reading this one I kept thinking I hope the other guys are going to get books too. This is a town I would love to keep on revisiting.
Addie has been one of the guys forever, this was a close five growing up so naturally when one of the group was getting married she’d be one of the groomsmen of course. She had no idea the impact of Tucker coming back to the fold would open a can of worms, feelings that shouldn’t be happening start. Addie understood her best friend going off to the big city for his career but she missed him, what she hadn’t expect was how her feelings changed, when did they change? They couldn’t chance loosing their closeness and ease wasn’t something they wanted, right? But when being “one of the guys” made her wonder if she’d ever be seen as anything other than that, doubts begin to fill Addie. Tucker is coming home, with no job and a new start he didn’t expect to find out the girl he grew up with had sexy legs and a hot body he wanted to hold against him. Seeing his best friend in a new light made him start thinking naughty things…Can they take the next step and keep their friendship? Great characters, Nonna is my kind of grandma! Great humor with heavy feels-all around great read. Tomboys can be sexy as hell!
Addison Murphy was the only girl in the group; the group of her friends who were all men. Tucker Crawford had been her best friend and was one of the members of the group, too. They had done everything together and were as close as any best friends had ever been. When Tucker came back to Uncertainty, Alabama, after a two year hiatus, he saw a pair of sexy legs in a dress under a vehicle. He was so surprised to see that it was Addie. Then he began to see her other assets and she saw his. Pretty soon, they were wanting to kiss and snuggle. Those feelings were definitely crossing the line.
I liked Addison and Tucker’s story. I am not a fan of descriptive sex scenes or foul language and this book had some smattered through the book but I liked the dynamic between the friends.
I was given an arc copy of this book and I willingly offer my honest review.
I love reading Cindi Madsen books because I know I’m always in for giggles and some serious swoons. “Just One of the Groomsmen” is exactly what this girl needed. A former girl groomsmen myself, I loved everything about Addie. For real, this girl is my fictional kindred spirit. And don’t even get me started on Tucker *blush*.
“Just One of the Groomsmen” is the perfect book to tuck into your beach bag or purse for some seriously fun escape reading.
My second read by Cindi Madsen and I enjoyed it even more than the first!!
Just One of the Groomsmen is gonna be a reread for me in the future!
A friends to lovers story with great characters, humour, fun, heat and chemistry set in a small town…. just my kind of read!
I’m looking forward to heading back to Uncertainty and the next book in the Getting Hitched in Dixie series!
A recommended, 5* read
This was a cute book, a best friends to lovers book. We meet Tyler who is coming back home after trying it as a big city lawyer and hating it, he wants to come back to all that he misses including and especially his bestie Addison. Addison is so excited that Tyler is coming back but her other really good friend is getting married and she is going to be one of the groomsmen in name only, she will actually be a bridesmaid and going to have to wear a dress something she detest but atleast she is being included since if any of the guys ever have a girlfriend those girl tend to never really want to accept Addie’s relationship with them. Tyler can’t believe that he seems to be checking out his bestfriend, a tomboy someone who knows all about him and he does not want to rock the boat in that relationship because not only could that mess them up but it could mess up the relationship with all the other guys and they would never forgive him. So even though they tried to avoid their chemistry they eventually give in, but she is offered a job 2 hours away and he doesn’t want to hold her back so he breaks her heart, breaking his at the same time and now he has to fix it before the town crucifies him along with their friends..Enjoy!

The thing about this particular group of ladies was the way they could lob implications and casually insult you, their sugary-sweet smiles never leaving their lips.
You know, sometimes I think it’s sad that no matter how much makeup people put on, it doesn’t make their soul any prettier. Then again, it’s always nice to spot those people right away.

“I’d recommend a thong, too, to avoid panty lines.” Right. Because what was missing from this whole experience was a tiny strip of fabric riding up her ass. That way, when she inevitably tripped on her heels, she could expose her bottom half to the entire wedding party. Hey, maybe then the townsfolk and her friends would acknowledge she was a girl!
Her sexual experience was best summed up as few and far between, and even the during was nothing to brag about.

My Review:
My first experience reading and comedic words of Cindi Madsen and I picked an excellent starting point, although now I want to go backward in time and read every book she has ever put out. And, oh my, she has put out quite a long list already, where have I been? I adored this effervescent group of friends and envied their tight bonds and respect for each other. The large cast of characters was well delineated, highly endearing, and cleverly amusing as they often engaged in flinging zingers and whip-smart banter. The storylines were fresh and entertaining and sparkled with wit and irreverent levity as well as quirky small-town observations and eccentricities. It is always a good day when I can add a new favorite to the top of my list of authors to stalk.
Amazing friends to lovers story and it was made even better by the fact that the heroine isn’t a natural choice for the hero (not his type at all since she’s just one of the guys…not gorgeous and elegant). It was a brilliant story and the dynamic between this group of friends…LOVE IT so much! I can’t wait for more from this series!
A thoroughly enjoyable read. Addie and Tucker have been best friends their entire lives. Life has created some obstacles in that friendship but when he returns home, they both start seeing each other in a new light.
This story is witty, with amazing characters and lots of ‘feels’.
I loved this book and could not put it down. In fact, I wasn’t too busy at work and read some of it there (but don’t tell my boss!).
This small town in Alabama has a group of friends, 4 guys and 1 girl, that bonded and became the best of friends. Now one of them is getting married and it has brought back one friend to share in the celebration. Tucker doesn’t know what hits him when he sees Addie’s legs sticking out from under a car. All of a sudden, she is more than just one of the guys. The same holds true for Addie, something happens when she sees Tucker again and she tries to fight it but is losing that battle pretty quickly.
This book moves along very quickly and I loved the interactions between all of the friends and then between Addie and Lexi (Shep’s fiancee) especially when Lexi asks Addie’s help in planning the wedding. Ummm, Addie has no idea about some of those but because Shep is one of her best friends, she will do whatever it takes to help out.
The story is not without its ups and downs, misunderstandings, and crazy antics from all of the characters. It does show us that true friendship will go to any length to keep that sacred.
This is one of my favorite books this year and major props to the author for only including a couple of f* bombs.
Addie grew up surrounded by boys and always considered herself as one of them, after they all had the same tastes and affinities, but her relationship with Tucker has always been strong. Where one was the other was together, always united in the biggest confusions and jokes, but two years ago he moved to work in a law firm. Thanks to a meeting organized by one of their best friends, Addie and Tucker meet again but this time something is definitely different, both will dive into the preparations for a wedding and will eventually realize that what they have for each other is much more than only a friendship.
I love Cindi Madsen’s funny writing and Just One of the Groomsmen, she introduced me to a delightful romantic comedy filled with hilarious moments and mega moments of sighing. Seeing how Tucker and Addie discover their feelings, their inner strength, their vocations, and how to face their friends for what they love was wonderful. I was really in need of such a book after reading a very tense and strong drama and this book came as a balm warming my heart.
I loved the cover and everything that surrounds this dress …..
5/5 stars.
Just One of the Groomsmen is book one in the next series by author Cindi Madsen. It’s about life and coming of age in a small Southern town. And falling in love with your very best friend. Fans of Hallmark movies will love this book. And speaking of Hallmark, Cindi just announced that she’s been signed with Hallmark publishing!
Addison Murphy has been just one of the guys since forever. She has her group of friends – all four of them male – and they’ve forged a friendship that has been built on good times…and good mischief! Now they are all grown up and things are changing. One of the guys is getting married, and he’s asked all of them – Addie included – to be his groomsmen. While a bit unconventional, what it leads to is something Addie never expected. Tucker has been her very best friend all of her life. So why is she having these…feelings for him now?
I’ll admit it straight up. I love Hallmark movies, and Cindi Madsen’s writing has always reminded me of them. I think that’s why I’m such a huge fan of her writing style. And Just One of the Groomsmen didn’t disappoint! Addie isn’t afraid to be her own person. Coming from someone who felt pressured to conform most of my growing up years, I truly admired this part of this character. Not to say Addie doesn’t feel the pressure, especially now that she’s grown up, but she’s not ashamed of who she is. But she’s still learning who she is as an adult. Tucker, on the other hand, is floundering. Not quite where he thought he should – or would – be by this time in his life when he begins to fall for Addie, it truly throws him for a loop. And what happens when guys are thrown like that emotionally? Well…they usually screw things up.
NICUnurse’s Rating: Just One of the Groomsmen was a quick, entertaining read with a true HEA ending. There are some serious times, there are some funny times, and there are some really emotional times. If you’re not a fan of Hallmark-style stories, this might not be for you. But for those of us that ARE fans? You’re going to love it! Oh, and coming from a home-grown gal from the deep South…Cindi Madsen totally nails small-town Southern life! I give Just One of the Groomsmen by Cindi Madsen 4.5 stars!
JUST ONE OF THE GROOMSMEN is the first instalment in Cindi Madsen’s contemporary, adult GETTING HITCHED IN DIXIE romance series focusing on a tight knit group of friends from Uncertainty, Alabama. This is physical therapist Addison Murphy, and attorney Tucker Crawford’s story line.
Told from dual third person perspectives (Tucker and Addison) JUST ONE OF THE GROOMSMEN follows the best friends to lovers relationship between physical therapist Addison Murphy, and attorney Tucker Crawford. Addison Murphy is the only woman in her tight knit group of friends from home but being the only woman has made her a target of innuendo and speculation especially when she is unwilling to conform to society’s and small town expectations of femininity and womanhood. The upcoming wedding of one of their own, finds Addison in the unenviable position as one of the groomsmen, but a groomsmen that is expected to help out the bride. Enter attorney Tucker Crawford, Addison’s lifelong best friend, and the man with whom Addison is secretly in love. What ensues is the building romance and love between Addison and Tucker, and the potential fall-out when Addison is offered a position out of town, a position that may break down the relationship between our leading couple.
Tucker Crawford struggled with his most recent position as a big city lawyer but returning to his hometown of Uncertainty, Alabama brought closure and a familiarity along with friends and the woman with whom he will fall in love. Addison Murphy is one of the boys: a beer drinking, football playing, poker playing physical therapist who is more at home in overalls than heels but finds herself on the outside looking in when her femininity and sexuality are called into question by the people she loves. As the wedding of Will Shepherd and Lexi approaches, Addison finds herself wondering is she is truly just ‘one of the guys’.
The relationship between Addison and Tucker is a best friends to lovers romance wherein Tucker tries to keep their affair on the down-low. Believing herself to be Tucker’s ‘dirty little secret’ Addison struggles with the possibility that their relationship is only a temporary thing. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
We are introduced to Will Shepherd and his fiancé Lexi, Easton, and Ford: Addison’s sister Alexandria,; their Nonna Lucia, dentist Davis Nelson as well as a large assortment of busy-bodies and town gossips who relish in spreading secrets and lies.
JUST ONE OF THE GROOMSMEN is a story of family and friendships; misunderstanding and miscommunication; struggle, hardship, acceptance and love. The premise is engaging and emotional; the romance is seductive; the characters are colorful, energetic and fun.
Great friends to lovers story!

Can he cross the line with her and keep their friendship in tact? Or will it throw off the whole dynamics of their tight group.
Read along as they navigate their new feelings for each other, enjoy the banter between this fun loving group of guys and Addison! 5 stars for this, looking forward to the next story in this new series!
This is a sweet, touching story about friendships, hope, new beginnings and love.
A group of four guys and one gal have been friends since childhood. Addie Murphy has been one of “guys” since day one, at times the instigator, at others a follower of all their mischief. When one in the group announces that he’s getting married, the others fear the group’s dynamics might change.
Tucker Crawford, another of the “boys” and Addie’s BFF, quits his job in the city, and when driving back home sees a car on the side, and a pair of amazing legs sticking , his heart stops. Imagine his surprise when those legs belong to Addie.
From there on the attraction, and complications start.
This is a wonderful story that will touch your hearts and filled with wonderful characters .
Definitely an author whose work will go into my TBR list.
I was entrusted this copy by Netgalley. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
Just One of the Groomsmen is a fabulous read. You will love Addie and her tomboy ways. Her boys will leave you in stitches. And when it comes to Tucker hold one. I love the banter when this group of friends get together. Addie and Tucker has this bond that goes so deep. You can feel the chemistry just pouring off the pages. When it comes down to Lexi and Shep’s wedding you can’t help but feel for every uncomfortable situation Addie is put in. I love how the friendship she has with Lexi grows. And wait until you meet Addie’s Nonna she will leave you in stitches. I love this book and I’m so excited for more to come in the Getting Hitched in Dixie series. Cindi Madsen had done it again with this book when it comes to friendship, laughter and love. She makes you feel as if you are apart of this close knit group of friends. I couldn’t put this one down.
3.75/5
This was a nice, fluffy read about one woman and her four best friends from childhood…who happen to be guys…one of whom she begins to have deeper feelings for.
There were definitely some parts that were a bit silly and juvenile for a group of 27-year-olds, and the heroine could be irritating at times (sometimes a strong, confident woman…sometimes an insecure, childish girl), but overall it told a rather sweet, loyal tale of friendships and love…both platonic and romantic.
Thanks to #NetGalley and #EntangledPublishing for providing me the ARC. The opinions are strictly my own.
