A one-night stand with a single, widowed dad can change everything.“What the f*ck have I done?” aren’t the first words you want to hear after a one-night stand. Yet that’s what he gave me. Dallas Barnes is tall, dark, and handsome. He’s also scarred, rough, and broken down by burdens. A single dad. A widower. A lost soul.We found each other in the back of a dark pub.He brought the whiskey.I … the back of a dark pub.
He brought the whiskey.
I brought the bad decisions.
He called it a mistake.
I vowed never to speak to him again.
That vow is broken with one test.
Two pink lines have turned my life upside down.
One night can change everything.

A disastrous one night stand that leaves behind the kind of surprise that sticks around for 18 years. Single father and widower, Dallas has known Willow for years but one night of great sex that ended in some serious hurt feelings for Willow, leaves the pair dealing with an unexpected surprise. I really felt for Willow and my heart broke for her in the beginning of the book but Dallas is an awesome guy and he makes it up to her. The two go through some serious ups and downs but there is quite the HEA at the end of the road. Great characters main and supporting. I really am enjoying this series.
This book made me laugh, cry, swoon and rage. What an incredible story about two brokenhearted people, seeking solace in each other one drunken night and the fall out of their decision. I couldn’t have loved Willow and Dallas any more! As individual characters they were perfectly flawed but as a couple struggling to find their footing and make it work, they were electric!
The emotions and pain that resonated through this book had me shedding a tear more than once. It was so raw and honest. Grief isn’t the same for everyone and this book showed how two completely different people coped with listing loved ones in different ways.
I don’t typically enjoy reading about children in these types of reads but Maven was AMAZING! The author did a great job of depicting her age and dialogue realistically! Her character really brought a necessary element to the story.
I am so happy with how the story ended!!!! The HEA was everything I could have hoped for and I can’t wait to see this duo make an appearance in a future book in the series!
Charity Ferrell does it again! 5 out of 5 stars!
Just One Night is book two in the Blue Beech Series and a great second book in it. A lot of the same characters from book 1 Just Her Bodyguard which was Stella and Hudson’s story. Book 2 is Willow and Dallas’s story with some Maven thrown in for good measure.
I ran the emotional gambit with this book again. From happy to sad, scared to relieved with grief and love thrown in as well. Amazing story with some hard twists and turns but in the end we got our HEA.
Willow had a night with Dallas at the end of book 1 and after Dallas lost his wife to breast cancer waking up with someone in his bed hits him hard, he’s angry with himself for forgetting his dead wife for one night with an amazing woman and friend. Willow and Dallas have known each other for over five years they both worked for Stella at one time and would consider the other a friend. A drunken night might change that.
I got a copy from Kindle Unlimited for free, check out the series that is crawling into my heart.
I’m off to read Just Exes: Blue Beech Book #3 this is Lauren’s story.
Just One Night by Charity Ferrell just one five-star read. This story will break your heart and make you cry, but it will also fix it and put it back together, in a few chapters. The whole story will make your heart turn and flip like first love. I adored Make me Yours so was so excited to see Dallas Barnes get his story told, to see how he coped after leaving work to look after his dying wife see how him and little Maven had coped and moved on, how life in Blue Beech has moved on. This story didn’t disappoint.
Willow Andrews kept refusing her hotshot ex Hollywood star boss/best friend requesting she move to Blue Beech but one-night drowning sorrows may just make that decision for her. But one-night leads to the morning after, and the morning after a drunken sorrow drowning looks different and a man who has only loved one woman his whole life thinks he made a mistake, and Willow refuses to be anyone’s mistake. But two pink lines may mean that mistake has consequences. This is just the start of a journey they will both go one, and there will be laughter and some hotness, but there will also be some sadness and some realisation that life isn’t always full of joy.
One Night changes lives, but whether it’s for the best or not only time will tell.
This is a beautifully written story and some of the story lines you will read will be heart breaking, but they are done in such a beautiful and powerful manner that you will come out the other side full of wonder and not heartache. Thank you Charity Ferrell for a wonderful story, I was honoured to get the chance to read it.
I was so excited to read this story after finishing the first book in this series. My heart broke for Dallas but at the same time I wanted to yell at him for how he treated Willow. On the other end, I wanted to do the same thing to Willow; the back and forth on if she wanted to be with Dallas or not while he began taking responsibility made my head hurt. This book felt like a total tug of war – I was screaming at my iPad wanting to tell them to get it together! The only aspect I didn’t enjoy was that it took essentially the entire book for Willow and Dallas to admit their feelings to each other mutually. Their chemistry was great and the relationship between Willow and Dallas’ daughter also helped the overall storyline. I really enjoyed the book as well as the flow and style of writing that Charity brings to the book. Additionally, I love that she continued the story of the first book as to give us insight into what happened after the book was over. Overall, another great read from Charity!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Great Story! Great Narration
Just One Night
By: Charity Ferrell
Narrated by: Samantha Cook, Aaron Shedlock
This is my first Charity Ferrell book and I loved everything about it. The characters and storylines were amazing and captivated me from start to end. Heartfelt and emotional! I am looking forward to the rest of this series, I hope it becomes available on Audible soon.
I listened to the audiobook, the narrators Samantha Cook and Aaron Shedlock are wonderful narrators and voice performers. They bring the characters to life in such a way I could hear the emotions coming from the characters. Aaron’s take on Dallas was perfect, I felt his pain and turmoil. Thanks for another awesome listen!
This was my first Charity Ferrell’s book, and won’t be the last! Willow and Dallas’s story is so sweet! And I love Maven, Dallas’s daughter! I love all about this story! The characters, the storyline, the happy ending. The story is so beautifully written. The secondary characters are so great! I also love Stella and Hudson and want to read their story. Aaron Shedlock and Samantha Cook did an amazing and an emotional narration. I really enjoyed my listening. I received this free review copy audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily written this review.
Just One Night
By: Charity Ferrell
Narrated by: Samantha Cook, Aaron Shedlock
This emotionally charged story is one that grabs you in and makes you feel. Willow and Dallas have one night of passion that is set to change their lives. Not only is Dallas a widower, still mourning his wife, but this single dad is just not ready to allow himself to live again. Willow is sure of a few things. She can make it on her own, she is a strong woman and Dallas does something to her no other man has. These two have some big decisions to make, and their journey to love is just the beginning. I loved this story, It’s gritty and raw with emotions that tap into your heart. Dallas is hurting, but you can feel his strength and love as it grows. He is wonderful with his daughter and that’s enough to make me swoon! Willow is so strong and independent, she wants to stand on her own. There are some difficult circumstances these two face, and it’s done with compassion and class. I loved the supporting cast too, Stella and Hudson giving some sage advice and comic relief.
Aaron Shedlock and Samantha Cook are the perfect team for this book . Shedlock has such emotional depth as he narrates, we can feel Dallas’s pain and love. Cook always delivers the heroines with voices that emanate their personailty. She gives Willow that edginess, independence and hope. This team is amazing and gives us all the feels.

This book is absolutely fantastic! I loved everything about this book and the couple it is about. These two characters were so at a loss with each other and didn’t know how to act to make things right again. The way things worked out was so nice to listen to even though their was heartbreak everywhere in this story. This was my first book from Charity, but definitely will not be my last.
JUST ONE NIGHT by Charity Ferrell MF blew my mind! This book completely spoke to me. The heroine and I have the same shirt. We both live in Iowa and we both love tacos. You know, the important stuff.
Dallas was broken after the death of the love of his life and is left as the sole parent to his 6 year old daughter. He’s not looking for love. You only get one chance at that soul-crushing love anyway, right?
One drunken night. One night of passion and feeling special and loved. And with one sentence that uforic feeling was ripped away.
Willow has known and worked with Dallas for years. She knows how broken he is, but the chemistry between them can’t be ignored. Gah this book had so many moments! I bawled my eyes out, I laughed, I screamed. I also fell in love with these characters.
This was a ‘new to me’ author. I honestly took a look because I loved the cover. Then I read the blurb and I feel…hard. I downloaded this from Audible and met some awesome new narrators to stalk.
I loved everything about this book. So much that now I am stalking this author and reading all her words. So anyway. Read it. Listen to it. Just (sigh)…
Hudson needs to move over because Dallas is my new book boyfriend. Dear lord, I loved everything about this book. The characters were so well loved from the first book and to read more about them made my heart soar. I absolutely LOVED the chemistry between Willow and Dallas. The family relationship that Hudson, Dallas, and Lauren have was so real and fluid. Nothing felt forced. The friendship between them all felt real and fluid as well. The witty banter. The loving connections. The story line was amazing.
The plot of the story seems a little cliche but it worked so well. I think it worked so well because of how the characters were created – how torn Dallas was. The tragedy of his life. Willow had her own issues to deal with. Together, they were able to heal a little bit – but the story of getting there was SO WORTH IT. Sometimes, I read a book and I feel like it took a little too much to get there but not in this story. I was so happy with the ending. I was sad to see these characters leave the pages.
The writing was top notch. It kept me entertained, the dialogue was witty and real, and the relationships were just out of real life. I wish I had friends like this group. OH, and I can’t forget the steamy scenes. The steamy scenes were written just like I like them. A little graphic but nothing majorly crude about them.
You need to discover this book and this entire series! This is book #2 in the Blue Beech series by Charity Ferrell.
I’ve got to say if I liked the first book I absolutely loved this one.
This emotional second chance love story had me crying like a baby half the time and laughing hysterically the next. I loved Willow’s sassy personality to Dallas’s quiet one. On paper they are so different but somehow they just work.I was happy for them when they decided to leave the past behind and started to walk hand in hand towards their HEA that deserved.
A great continuation to the series.

Just One Night by Charity Ferrell is book Two in the Blue Beech Series. This is the story of Dallas and Willow. We do meet Dallas and Willow in the first book ‘Just Her Bodyguard’ but if you can make this a standalone book if you wish to do so. Willow and Dallas have a hot encounter when they were both feeling down and out of sorts. But that one night comes back to show that is not just a one night but a lifetime commitment to come. Enjoyed their story…can’t wait for the next book in this series.
I love a good single parent romance, and Just One Night was just what I wanted!
Dallas and Willow have known each other for a few years through work; Dallas was the bodyguard of the actress that Willow was the personal assistant. After Dallas’s wife passed away, Willow is in Iowa and she and Dallas get drunk. And then sleep together. And Willow ends up pregnant. Dallas, however, is still mourning his wife’s death, but they decide to give it a try for the baby’s sake.
This is my first book by Charity Ferrell. I very much enjoyed it. While it is a standalone, I do recommend reading Just Her Bodyguard first (it gives you a little more depth with Dallas and Willow, and also helps with the timeline of how things go). I do wish that I had read them in order (that’s mostly due to my OCD), but there wasn’t anything that I couldn’t figure out. Just One Night was a quick read, and quite enjoyable!
Absolutely loved this book! The book pulled me in from the beginning…I was probably 5% in when I knew I was going to love the book. I love her writing style, characters and story. This books has all the feels…..it’s one of those books that you think “I wish my work day were over so I can get back to my book”. This was my first book by this author and now I am going to go binge read the rest!
OMG we all need Dallas Barnes in our lives!
Hot AF
Killing it as a single Dad
Broken-hearted
Loyal to a fault
Hard working
You get the point. So when One Night changes everything between Dallas & Willow….you get two broken people plus a sweet, smart, cute 6-year-old, trying to do what they think is the right thing to do, when really, life never happens the way you expect it to.
I truly think that “Cindy” was a key turning point in their relationship. I fell in love with Maven <———I just love the name too. She’s one of my favorite kids lol Two Pink Lines + two broken people=Just One Night Fair warning, I bawled my eyes out several times during this book .
All. The. Feels. The emotions run the gamut in this one, and the wonderful writing made me feel each and every one. Willow and Dallas had me swooning or laughing one minute and crying great big tears the next. Their love story is a roller coaster ride of ups and downs, push and pull, and there were times I wanted to hug one or both of them and just as many times that I wanted to shake them until their teeth rattled. When a book can make me feel as much as this one did plus keeping me awake until the wee hours because I have to see how it all comes out, the author has done her job and done it well. Just One Night is the perfect blend of romance, angst, and wit, and it’s one that I can easily recommend.
This was a really emotional read. It had its funny moments with witty banter but it also had its sad and heart breaking moments. Grief isn’t an easy subject to read but the hard journey is always worth the HEA and the author did a great Job when it came to making Dallas and Willow work for it. Add in the surprise pregnancy (which you know from the blurb) it was an intreating ride. This was my first book by this author and it won’t be my last. Her time line, angst, banter and secondary characters were all great and has me intrigued on what else she can write. I plan to read the first book in this series soon. 4 stars #2OCCJD
I received a copy and voluntarily left a review and all opinions are my own.
After reading Just Her Bodyguard, where Charity teases her readers with glimpses of the heartache and suffering that both Willow and Dallas have endured, I just knew that I couldn’t wait a second longer to know more about this intriguing couple in Just One Night. Charity draws us in and lets us feel every mixed emotion that this couple has for each other from feelings of guilt and not being enough to a love like no other. She kept my heart in turmoil and I was addicted and couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. Willow and Dallas are all emotion and raw need that you can’t help but be drawn to like a moth to a flame.
The tragedy that Dallas Barnes endures is a nightmare that no one would want to live through. He shows us time and time again in this story his agony over losing his wife and what a wonderful and amazing father he is. He is loyal, dedicated, and loving..what could be sexier than those qualities? He had my heart from the beginning and squeezed it with all his might! I can see why Willow fell so hard for this broken man but wanted to guard her heart at the same time.
After Willow Andrews has experienced first hand what cheating and deceptions can do to you, she is more than reluctant to give her heart to Dallas and compete with a ghost. Willow had my all from beginning to the end of her story. She proves again and again that along with all that willfulness she possesses, she also has an amazingly giving and caring heart. This heroine spoke to me on so many levels and I admired her for her strength, tenacity, and her ability to deal with whatever circumstances that life throws at her. She just has to learn that she doesn’t have to do it alone and that she is worthy of love.
Charity Ferrell delivers a romance that will bring tears to your eyes and shows us that life is fleeting and you can have more than one great love, if you reach out and grab it. I highly recommend Just One Night for amazing characters that are sure to bring you to your knees emotionally and fill your heart with happiness and hope. Charity pulls out all the stops with this couple and has me falling head over heels for her writing. I cannot wait to be pulled back into this fictional world and learn more about Dallas and Hudson’s headstrong sister Lauren in Just Exes. My heart is open and ready to fall in love with yet another member of the Barnes family.
It is a real treat when you can find a book that makes you laugh hysterically and sob uncontrollably. And that is just what Charity Ferrell did. She created a story that was so funny. That was just so full of fun and unique characters. But they also had their share of grief and it was thick and all-consuming. It was the weirdest thing to go from crying uncontrollably in one chapter to a fit of laughter in the next chapter. That is a characteristic in an author that is beyond real talent in creating stories. Books that make you feel… and that’s just what this book did for me.
I didn’t read the first book in this series but I’m so excited for the next story! I haven’t looked but I really hope it’s Lauren’s story. The characters in this were so full of life and the emotions just oozes out of this story. I’m thrilled that I took a chance on an author I’ve never read before. I can’t wait for more… hopefully it includes these people!
I received an ARC of this book with the hope that I would leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that… my opinions.
