I’m a big fan of all of Maryann Jordon’s books and this one is no exception.
I highly recommend this story to everyone who enjoys a second chance romance that’s action packed.
As always, the suspenseful part of this book keeps you turning the pages! Again, Ms Jordan tackles issues that are prevalent and shows they happen everywhere.
A good book to me is one that managed to immerse me into the world that the author is weaving and this book has that for me.
You don’t have to read the 1st book but I highly recommend that you do.
Yet, another great read from Maryann Jordan. I love that it seemed to start off as a book about second chances. Then there is twist in the story that you think are going one way and end up going a second way. Great read and totally keeps you guessing what role everyone plays in the story line. I can’t wait for the next book in this series.
4 stars
I purchased a copy of the the novel Just One More Chance: Baytown Boys Series book 2 by Maryann Jordan and this review was given freely.
Action packed and emotional with some suspense. The American Legion and the formation of the ladies auxiliary, Grant’s struggle with war memory related mental illness and his sense of self worth, Lane and Oliver’s emergence as artists, increased drug activity in Bayton, and Grant and Jillian’s steamy but rocky romance are blended in with scenes from the other Baytown friends.
I loved Just One More Chance, the second book in the Baytown Boys series by Maryann Jordan. It can be read as a standalone, but the first book was so good that it shouldn’t be skipped.
Grant was one of the “Baytown Boys” who had joined the military longing to escape from his hometown. He returned from his tour a changed man and had stayed away from Baytown but was now finding that the small town called to something in him.
“Life can be rough…just like the waves beating on the glass. But it is from the rough treatment that our edges can be polished out and we can become as smooth and shiny as what you see here.”
Jillian has always loved Grant, but since he returned from the military he has pushed her back into the Friend-zone. She is starting to realize that she needs to just move on and find her own happiness. Jillian considers starting to date and also begins to work on her dream of opening an art galleria in the empty space above her coffee shop.
“…you’re going to have to ask yourself which is better—guarding your heart or taking the risk and possibly finding the one you’ve always needed.”
I so enjoyed returning to Baytown. This story had elements of suspense and some surprising twists along with the emotional romance. It also dealt with some difficult and real issues that many of our servicemen and women face when returning from war.
“Maybe we just needed to travel different paths for a while to end up on the same one again,”
I loved reading book #2 of this series. This book is Jillian Evans and Grant Wilder’s story.
When Grant returned to his hometown and let Jillian know that all he wanted was friendship she decides to move on trying to let her broken heart mend since she has always been in love with Grant but he has made his wishes clear. But is that what Grant truly wants? If so, why does it bother him so much to see her with another man.
This book is filled with heartbreak, mystery, death and PTSD. As Grant and Jillian find their way back to each other there is so much that shows him that she is what he wants and has not intention of letting her go again. As Grant struggles to handle his PTSD and become the man he deems good enough for Jillian. If she will give him just one more chance.
to much sex not enoug stoy
This is another great book from Maryann Jordan. A second chance romance in a small town setting with mystery and suspense. The way its written made me feel part of the town and I enjoyed all the interesting characters. In the story line there is romance, drama and intrigue. This is a great story with interesting characters and it will keep your interest until the very end. I really enjoyed reading it and can’t wait to read the other books in this series.
After leaving the service, Grant had avoided coming home but the call of the closeness of friends and family won out. Now on the police force in Baytown, he has to face Jillian.
Jillian promised to wait for him and she did. Even when he determined to put her in the ‘friend zone’ she was still waiting. Now after seeing him with so many hook-ups she’s decided to try moving forward.
That didn’t seem to go over very well with Grant, he apparently doesn’t get that what’s good for the gander is good for the goose.
Now Jillian has some new plans for the Gallery above the Coffee Shop and as Artists contribute their work there are other forces working against the small town.
Drug runners are shortcutting through their peaceful little town and the Police department is following up one lead after another. So many trails, leading only part of the way to where they want them.
As busy as he is Grant and the others returned from the service make time for their new VFW Post through which the group is making many more connections including counselling for PTSD.
Now Grant realizes that if he is going to have anything build with Jillian he’s going to have to face his demons, demons that come to the surface every time he looks at her. The chance he wants isn’t going to come easily, she isn’t sure she has another one to give.
Full of suspense, action, misunderstanding, interesting drama, smoldering scenes, laughter and scenes that brought tears to my eyes.
I fall more and more in love with this series with every book I read.
4.5 star review of Just One More Chance (Baytown Boys #2) by Maryann Jordan
This is Grant Wilder and Jillian Evans and is a second chance at love story.
They loved each other when they were young and Grant asked Jillian to wait for him to return from his tour of duty. Jillian waited but when Grant finally returned he was a man changed by the horrors of what he saw in the war and avoiding his hometown and Jillian.
Grant has finally returned to Baytown to join the police department, however all he wants from heart broken Jillian is to be friends.
What will happen when Jillian is targeted and danger lurks around the corner? Will Grant be able to protect her and finally realize what he gave up? Will Jillian be able to forgive the pain and hurt he caused her? One click now and find out.
This was a gripping and well written book and I loved the camaraderie and friendships between the men and their women as they all banded together to help one another.
Just One More Chance by Maryann Jordan is book number two in the Baytown Boys series. This is Grant Wilder and Jillian Evans’ story.
Jillian and Grant grew up together. They have loved each for years. After Grant came back from serving his military duty in the war zones he pushed Jillian away.
This is a great second chance romance where two people who love each but have to work through some struggles to find true love. It was great how the author incorporated the importance of our men and women returning from war to find counseling to deal with the ugliness of war. The story also provided a suspense dealing with drugs in their community.
I really enjoyed Grant and Jillian’s story. A steamy, tender, and suspenseful romance.
FYI, contains mature content. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
