A madcap new slant on history that seems to be everyone’s cup of tea… Behind the seemingly innocuous façade of St Mary’s, a different kind of historical research is taking place. They don’t do ‘time-travel’ – they ‘investigate major historical events in contemporary time’. Maintaining the appearance of harmless eccentrics is not always within their power – especially given their propensity for … for causing loud explosions when things get too quiet. Meet the disaster-magnets of St Mary’s Institute of Historical Research as they ricochet around History. Their aim is to observe and document – to try and find the answers to many of History’s unanswered questions…and not to die in the process. But one wrong move and History will fight back – to the death. And, as they soon discover – it’s not just History they’re fighting. Follow the catastrophe curve from eleventh-century London to World War I, and from the Cretaceous Period to the destruction of the Great Library at Alexandria. For wherever Historians go, chaos is sure to follow in their wake … “History is just one damned thing after another” – Arnold Toynbee

A hilarious, rollicking adventure through time and relationships that will have you laughing, gasping, and screaming at the book by turns. Don’t miss these great characters and wonderful story!
All of the Chronicles of St Mary’s books are literal “romps through history”… you learn as you laugh, and sometimes cry, at the madcap adventures of the historians and support crew of St Mary’s.
Sometimes the explanation of history is a little heavy handed, but on the flip-side, someone with a background in history would probably get a lot more of the jokes than I have!
More than a laugh a page, even with my pathetic knowledge of world history!
Just good fun.
Great off-beat characters, engaging plot. Already started the next book
This is a wonderful book. Finding this book was a happy accident. It has a great story line and character development. The story had action and was also funny. I recommend reading this book.
Another intriguing story in the series with characters that have realistic flaws. Very entertaining and a quick read.
Another rollicking romp through time with the crew of St. Mary’s.
This imaginative book is laugh out loud funny, the action keeps going and I couldn’t wait to get the next book in the series. (I also stayed up until 4 am to finish it.)
A very entertaining book. Very different from what I usually read. I enjoyed the characters, they were quirky. I would continue reading this series.
I really enjoyed this read great charters, and story
Funny. Good characters. Whimsical, a bit unpredictable, suspenseful… lots of historical references. Very British in vocabulary.
I have become a true fan of the St. Mary’s Chronicles and am eagerly awaiting the next installment.
Good series with a fairly innovative time travel concept.
Interesting, but a little confusing. The more you read though the more you want to know what happens.
Different approach to time meddling/travel.
A really fun read that was filled with new thoughts and action.
So glad this is a series of books. Finished the first two and have the third in hand.
Love the characters and the narrative keeps me smiling. I highly recommend this fun, adventure filled book. How can history be so much fun!
I enjoyed the first book in this series and started on the second (a sample) and know I will purchase the whole series… very difficult to tear myself away from the plot and it many twists
Very imaginative, I look forward to its sequels.
