Every day, my neighbor tells me to have a good morning.Every day, I tell him to f*ck off. Kyle Lane is the town’s hottest cop. He’s also the man I’ve despised since high school. Each morning, he stands on his porch with an annoying smirk on his perfect face. He’s made it his life’s mission to get under my skin. Until one day, he’s no longer on his porch but on mine. He claims he wants to redeem … mine.
He claims he wants to redeem himself for ruining my reputation.
My instincts tell me to stay away, but with each morning he shows up, it becomes harder and harder to resist his charm.
I was never supposed to fall in love with my neighbor and once he finds out my secret, we’ll forever be enemies.

Holy cow! I am actually not sure how to go about writing this review. This book is… brutal at times, a bit quirky at others, heartbreaking; I mean… just like book three, this has ALL the feels. Chloe grew up in a less than stellar environment, called names like “trailer trash” she tried her best to stay quiet and unnoticed. Her mother was dysfunctional and her sister the poster child of growing up in that element. The moment she could get out of that situation she did, and got a job at Blue Beech’s newspaper. Her neighbor, Kyle, is someone that she would rather not live there, in fact if Kyle could leave town that would be even better for Chloe. The two have a bit of a bad past, and have been rivals since high school. When Chloe is going to publish an article about Lauren and Gage’s situation, Kyle makes sure that he is more than his normal annoying neighbor self, which some how leads to Chloe being in Kyle’s debt. The two end up seeing a lot more of each, and the next thing you know they are sort of dating. But their past is always a point of contention between them, Chloe doesn’t trust Kyle, and all Kyle is wanting is a chance to prove that he is different. But there are things that Kyle doesn’t know, that Chloe hasn’t shared, what happens when he finds out what Chloe has been keeping deep inside?
The twists and turns just keep coming in this series. This story had some twists that I didn’t see coming at all, and then BAM it hits and you’re just sitting there staring at the kindle in disbelief. There seems to be a running theme, as the last three books had something similar happen, and I’m not sure I can take anymore of that, so here’s hoping the next book doesn’t have it. Also nick-names… enough of Glor-Bear, Laur-Bear, May-Bear…. there are other ones out there.(thats just me nitpicking now) Anyways, this was a 5 star read that had me on the edge of my seat, and I’m excited but a bit nervous at what’s next.

Chloe and Kyle knew each other in high school. He was the son of the prestigious Michael Lane, the current Mayor and she was “trash” from the trailer park in town. After a disastrous homecoming night left Chloe the town joke, she hated Kyle with a vengeance, so to find he has just moved in next door to her has her blood boiling. When Kyle, who happens to be a police officer, helps her nephew out, she agrees to turn down the hatred a notch or two and have a few meals with him. Kyle has had the hots for Chloe since high school. The disaster of homecoming night had left Chloe a laughing stock, something he felt huge guilt for, but the teenage him had to save face and made the situation worse. He never stopped wanting her though, and jumped at the chance to get to spend some time with her that didn’t involve her telling him to, um, go away lol.
Chloe has a secret though, a secret that will most certainly blow Kyle’s world apart; it was never an issue for Chloe before as she hated Kyle, but what does she do now that she is falling for him? Someone finding out the secret could have detrimental repercussions for her family, but Kyle deserves to know the truth. Should she tell him and risk losing him or keep the secret to protect her family?
This was a really good story, with plenty of drama and a bit of angst and omg you may need some tissues for this book! I hope this isn’t the end of the series as so far I’m really enjoying it and I give Just Neighbors 4.5 stars.
JUST NEIGHBORS was a fun, quick read that features hard grudges, the hope for redemption, and emotions all across the board. (Enemies-to-lovers, second-chance romance).
5 “All the Feels” Stars
Charity Ferrell is a new to me author, but man, did she earn a new follower. I am definitely going to have to go back and read the first three books in this series. I was excited to dive into this just from the blurb alone, and I was sucked in from page one. Kyle and Chloe have a past, and apparently a not so great one considering the daily greeting she gives him lol. But Kyle is determined to make it up to her. The banter between them can only be described as foreplay. These two have chemistry dripping off the pages and the sexual tension between them is so thick you need a chainsaw to cut it. And can I just say how much Kyle Lane had me swooning? That man and his dirty mouth.
This story was everything and Ferrell captivated me not only with her words, but with her amazing way to bring a story to life. I was expecting a hot, funny story, and boy did she deliver just that. What I wasn’t expecting was to be sucker punched with the heartbreaking emotional side. Seriously, sobbing like a baby right here. There were so many depths to this story and when secrets and pasts come out, no one’s heart was safe. Just Neighbors has made it into my top ten books so far this year and I can’t wait to read more from this author.

I have read these books out of order.
After totally loving Just roommates I went back and read Just Neighbours.
Whilst I enjoyed this book a few things did initially make me wonder why would these two ever end up together.
Although once they did I thought they were cute together the way things went down wasn’t something I would have seen happening or believe would happen under any circumstances.
The initial hookup still has me asking myself why???
But if you can get past this and keep reading this is a good read.
The story is well written and you start getting invested in the characters.
There were a few twists in the story that took me by surprise.
For a fun romcom it even had me grabbing for the tissues with an unexpected twist at the end.
I say despite the beginning this book is a definite must read.
Emotional enemies to lovers.
This book was potent! At first it started light-hearted and funny but as the book went on it became more intense and emotional. Between the secrets Chloë kept from Kyle and dealing with her sister Claudia and her drunk boyfriend Roger, the emotions kept increasing in intensity. When the accident happened and the girl was dead in the car while her drunk and drugged mother lived, I really felt the emotions from both Chloë and Kyle. I really didn’t think there would be a happy ending. Thankfully there was a happy ending for Chloë and Kyle. I thoroughly enjoyed this book
I really liked Just Neighbors for the most part. I might have had some issues at some points in the book, which I will of course address in this review, but any book with the power to make me cry absolutely deserves at least four stars.
And boy did I cry. I will not give any spoilers away, but a story able to make me emotional enough to cry is able to do so because of great depth to both plot and characters. It all was built up very well for me to care so much for the characters and feel and relate to the pain they dealt with. The book had everything I desire in a good romance; an enemies to lovers theme, drama, good chemistry, twists and some darkness to it. All this kept me hooked to the story from start to finish.
Although, it wasn’t all roses while reading the book. I at times felt that Chloe was a bit too childish and her and Kyle’s dialogues and relationship revolved a bit too much around sex, in the beginning at least. At the same time, Chloe’s attitude and personality stood out and made her more relatable and realistic for it. It also helped the chemistry a lot between her and Kyle with their bickering and “hateful” flirting. I always liked the enemies to lovers theme just for those tense sizzling interactions and drama they brought forth and Just Neighbors did just that. It built up amazingly from just sex and snide comments to a beautiful connection between them. Until the big secret got out.
Me being a drama lover (only in books) was addicted to the fallout and pain that secret created, and then tragedy hit, bringing out all sorts of emotions from me. As good as that tragedy was, it also took away from the satisfying drama and resolvement of the big fallout. Because it felt like it was kind of left in the dust after that with Kyle being there for her, consoling her. What made him hate her was suddenly inconsequential and he wanted to move forward with her. Don’t get me wrong, that was what I was hoping for and expecting the ending to be with them making amends and reuniting. What made it so unsatisfying however was that they didn’t really work through their problems by talking about it, neither the secret or how he treated her afterwards. I wanted to see them work through it the way they worked through what he did to her in high school. Then I would have been completely satisfied with the ending.
Other than that I am very happy with this book. It was original, impactful and very well written, with perhaps only some dialogues that felt a bit off for me. While reading I have been indecisive if I should give it four or five stars. Because it left me a bit unsatisfied with the ending I will give it four stars, but overall it’s an amazing story that, if you like me enjoy enemies to lovers, I recommend you to read.
I enjoyed this book even though it was # 4 in a series but a standalone. Thank you for giving the readers on the younger characters point of view of what happen during and after. It was wonderful seeing them grow as lovers and friends. Thank you for this good read
A hot cop, enemies to lovers feel good romance. But so much more than just that. A GREAT read.
I absolutely loved this book! I may have cried harder then I should have! I will definitely be looking to read more of Charity’s books!
I haven’t had a book that made me laugh or cry so much in a while. I loved this story that I had to re-read it as soon as I was done reading it the first time.
Wow! This was a complete surprise!! I was expecting a fun, possibly hilarious, rom-com that was pure entertainment. I certainly got that, well, maybe not so much the rom-com part, but there was lots of fun, hilarity, and entertainment. There was also so much more. The emotions in this book caught me by surprise. These characters are definitely not who they seem to be at first glance. There is so much more to each of them. It wasn’t that I couldn’t put this book down, it was that I didn’t want to put this book down. I read it in a matter of hours, some parts twice so I could truly take in what I’d just read. Some of it is that unbelievable. There were some things I saw coming, but others that caught me off guard. It’s raw and emotional with wit and humor scattered throughout.
This book turned out to be one of my favorites. The characters of Kyle and Chloe were so real I could feel their emotions. This book had some unexpected twist that were a surprise. It was hard to put down and if you like romance you can’t go wrong with “Just Neighbors”.
I could not put this book down. It was filled with twists admins turns. And it was real. I could completely see this story happening in real life!
It took a while to enjoy it but liked the end.
Great story
Nice easy quick read. Good beach read
I absolutely love this book! I think I felt every emotion at some point while reading it. I laughed, cried, was frustrated, got mad, felt disappointed then hopeful . . I didn’t want it end! It’s one of the best books I have read in the last year.
WOW is all I can say about “Just Neighbors” (nookbook version). The emotional drama was intense. There were many unpredictable twists and turns. I loved the book – would rate it higher than 5 stars if I could. I wish I could have read about Chloe telling Kyle the history with “Sam” and that he (“Sam”), basically, threatened her if she unveiled the truth about Trey’s father. Kyle should have been informed of that fact so the reader could see his reaction. “Sam” did have some redeeming qualities in his early treatment of Chloe. Another book could involve Michael/”Sam” and how he turns a new leaf regarding his wife, children and Chloe. That could be another tear-jerker.
First time reading a book from this author and I’m looking forward to reading more from her. I couldn’t put it down.
What an incredible journey of enemies to lovers, humor, and in-the-gut anguish with a ton of banter that will make you laugh and a scene that will rip your heart out. I’m so glad I read this book, I was unable to put it down and I am ready to read more!
