“This is hands down one of the BEST BOOKS OF 2019! The romance is powerful, so beautiful and hopeful.” Angie & Jessica’s Dreamy Reads There’s two sides to every love story. The how you fell in love, and the how you fell apart. This is ours. The cardinal rule of friendship is you don’t mess with your friend’s sister. It was just supposed to be fun. She wasn’t supposed to end up being the love of my life. And I definitely wasn’t supposed to break her heart.
Ainsley is a wedding dress designer. That should’ve been a warning that she’s a hopeless romantic. That should’ve clued me in that she believes love conquers all.

She thinks love is the answer.

REVIEW: 4 STARS
“Everything I want, I crave, begins and ends with her.”
FIRST AND FOREMOST: I don’t feel like I can start this review without first mentioning this absolutely exquisite cover. This cover immediately caught my eye the very first time I saw it and it’s what drew me to actually wanting to see what the book was about. So this time….I did judge a book by it’s cover. And thank gosh I did. I definitely love this cover and enjoyed the book. And oh so fitting and original. Bravo, Miss Lane. Bravo.
This was my first book by Prescott Lane and I can easily add her to my rotating list of authors I’d love to read again. With the story being an emotionally heavy journey, the flow of her words carried me through – but the compassion held my hand as I waded through all the drama as it unfolded. It was heartwarming and heartbreaking intertwined with detail. Definitely not all flowers and roses, that’s for sure. Her ‘voice’ was a much calmer voice than I anticipated and I appreciated that – very smooth and easy to read. There were some anecdotes, as well as some entertaining side thoughts, that may have added conversation points but not necessarily intrinsic to the overall story but it didn’t feel noisy or too wordy. Very easy to read and I definitely look forward to more. This was a great introduction to her work and it’s one that I can stand behind and readily recommend.
While this one was told in a back/forth time style – not my favorite, I honestly don’t feel like it detracted from the storyline at all. In all actuality, I enjoyed this aspect of it quite a bit since I got to fall in love and learn, all in the span of a few hours while reading. While I know a few of my friends and a few other readers shy away from this style, I will say that it played a very important “discovery” role and was very necessary and quite ideal to the layout.
“But the best lies I tell – those I reserve for myself.”
Rhett was the kind of man we have all run into in this book world. There wasn’t anything different about him until we got deep down into his heart. He was all heart. All lovable and sigh-worthy, he definitely gave me a case of the ‘heart eyes’ a few times. I loved him so much. Ainsley was such a strong young lady that had a terrible hand dealt her, but a life full of love certainly followed. But not without its due drama. I will tell you, this journey was a rough one and it had my full attention from the first page until the last page. So many twists and turns that made my heart sink and soar within a matter of pages – but I was equally rewarded. I really, really enjoyed this one.
I felt a very wide range of emotions, mixed in between the actual story and the characters’ actions, and as frustrating as some parts were – there was always a deeper meaning that I could look to and better understand. It was, quite frankly, eye opening and beautiful. I felt like this one was a good mix of heartbreaking yet heart….opening? It’s truly a look at what can break up a perfect relationship, but it also made me think more about the “what if” scenario. What would I do? How would I deal with his “actions”? One would think love was stronger than anything, but there’s always that scary off scenario. I think this was beautifully written. Giving a voice to the struggle and emotions that poured off the pages and into my heart, this twisted me up a few times. Prescott lane put me in “their” shoes. In their hurt. In their world of pain….and I’m thankful for that.
I like to find authors that can write a book that moves me. I like reading ones that tug at my heart. I love ones that are gritty and angsty and have me clawing at my stomach because I can’t take the angst anymore. This one had 2 out of 3. While it wasn’t angsty, it moved me and I honestly felt the pain and the agony these characters went through. I equally love that the agony was shared by FOUR characters (mainly) and the love story wasn’t lost in it all.
You can argue selfishness or selflessness with this story, and neither side will be correct. The way things played out was nothing short of aggravatingly emotional and I really enjoyed it.
“Love is immeasurable. But when it’s the right fit, you just know.”

Just Love by Prescott Lane, was everything you can want in a book. You have the second chance love. You have the heartbreak and the forgiveness. You have the little sister of your best friend that your not suppose to even see or touch lol ..
Just love is told in a dual POV so you get both sides of what there thinking and going through. Its an emotional story that will have you tearing up but also you have the laughter. Ofc you also have that little puppy Sadie who is there for Ainsley and Rhett when it’s needed.
I loved it! It is a story about love, friendship, and second chances. It’s both heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time. I think that it is very well-written and all the characters are amazing. It’s one of those romances that touch your heart and make you feel alive. I enjoyed reading it a lot and would recommend to anyone who loves contemporary romance. This book is a must-read for all such people.
Ainsley is his best friend’s little sister. They brought her up together, in fact. So, he has no right to have romantic feelings towards her but no matter how much he tries, Rhett can’t help it. She is the woman for him, he is sure about that. Now, only if his best friend would let him live after this then he would be the happiest man in the world… Or so he thought. But soon he will realize that life is never predictable and he might not have any future with the woman he loves…
I think this is a beautiful story and I loved every single thing about it. I especially enjoyed how it is written from both the main characters’ point of view. That way you know exactly what is going on in their heads and how exactly they feel about each other. All in all, a great read.
I don’t even know where to start with my review for this book. This book elicited so many feels I had to put it down a few times just to get myself together before continuing to read. This covers a couple of different popular tropes in the romance genre: sibling’s best friend, secret crush, second chance at love. Told in dual POV, we get the story as to what happened 18 months prior, all the way through to present day. Ainsley is the younger sister to Brody, who is the best friend and business partner to Rhett, the one man Ainsley’s been crushing on for a while. I liked how Brody, Rhett and Brody’s girlfriend Skye all stepped in to help raise Ainsley after the deaths of her and Brody’s parents when she was a teenager, so there’s plenty of history between the four. We get to see how, in the present time frame, the friendship between Ainsley and Rhett evolves into something more. Until it all falls apart in a heartwrenching way that I was unprepared for.
5 Star Review of Just Love by Prescott Lane
Prescott Lane is a new author to me and why that is I have no idea why that is.
This is a beautifully written book that touched me on so many levels and is in my opinion a second chance at love story about Rhett and Ainsley.
Just Love is a story of regret, forgiveness, love and laughter. It is an emotional roller coaster of a read that had me captivated from the first to the last page.
The connection between Rhett and Ainsley is intense and I was absolutely hooked. The writing was strong and the characters, particularly Rhett, Ainsley and Sadie were well written and interesting.
There were times that I laughed so hard whilst reading but there were also times when I sobbed my heart out; my emotions all over the place.
Just Love is a story that may leave you with a book hangover, I know it did for me.
Loved all the characters
I am wrecked and destroyed.
Prescott Lane broke my heart, then she glued it together to broke it second time.
Just Love is a story of true love.
I am a virgin with Prescott Lane books. This release was my first book from this author, but all I truly can say that I must read more books of Prescott Lane!
Rule number one: do not love your best friend’s little sister.
Rule number two: do not kiss your best friend’s little sister.
Rule number three: do not have sex with your best friend’s little sister.
Rhett Benett broke them all.
Ainsley is Brody’s little sister. Rhett’s best friend whom he has vet clinic. When Ainsley and Brody were younger their parents died in home fire. All was in fire. Even mother’s the wedding dress, which Ainsley loved. They lived togheter. Rhett’s parents gave them a new home and parental love. All was perfect, but one day when they were older something changed. Rhett understood that he loves Ainsley. But he promised to Brody that would never happen.
Life is only life and love doesn’t choose.
Mifortunes as well.
This story!
This book!
I love Just Love so much!
Prescott Lane won my heart!
This is not a simple brother’s best friend romance.
This love story has a lot of thorns and scars.
But not only Rhett and Ainsley have problems. Skye and Brody have their own problems.
Now you think that Just Love is a really sad story.
Not at all. In this book we have sweet moments, fantastic and laughable dialogs and of course a little bit of sexy parts. Just Love is…. just love. This book represents everything which I need to be really satisfied while I am reading and after that.
Just Love by Prescott Lane is a standalone contemporary romance. It literally is a before and after story. The couple falling in love up until an event happens to change their lives, and then the couple finding their way back to each other in spite of the event and all the fallout it entailed. It was emotional. I’m not talking a little bit of angst and drama but BOOM happily ever after. I’m talking it made me uncomfortable the level of pain these characters were subjected to. It was sooo well written and handled with such class. I kept wanting that magic fiction-switch to be pulled so that everyone was suddenly 100% again, no issues. But that would have not done justice to Rhett and Ainsley at all. Instead, the author stayed the course and gave these two the best ending. I usually steer away from such emotional entanglements in my book world and wasn’t expecting it but I enjoyed it. Hope you do too.
A very heartbreaking story with lots of hope, family and friends and a precious dog Sadie. There’s love in every page, in all its different forms. It started out feeling a little sleazy, Rhett wanting his best friend’s little sister Ainsley. I understood that he wanted a fling for a few months, keeping it secret from Brody, his best friend and Ainsley big brother. And yet, the joke was on him because what he hadn’t counted on is that he loved her already, so he was hooked from the get-go.
When Rhett and Brody were twenty-one years old and about to start veterinarian medical college, Brody’s parents were killed in a house fire. Brody took custody of his fifteen year old sister Ainsley and brought her to live with him and Rhett while they went to Vet Medical college. Brody’s girlfriend Skye joined forces with Rhett and Brody and together they promised to cooperate in raising Ainsley.
When Ainsley came back from college, a fully grown woman and so beautiful, inside and out, Rhett was hit by a desire so deep he had a hard time hiding it. Ainsley has been in love with him for years and wanted to be with him, even if it was only for sex. It quickly escalated to love, given they have had lived together, played together and already loved each other as friends. Then tragedy struck and all broke apart. Rhett and Ainsley have a road back to love that is full of anger, tears and heartbreak. Brody and Skye are also affected with the procedure, and Rhett’s parents give support and love to all affected. Throughout the whole story the star is Sadie, a little runt of a puppy that Rhett rescued when he was eighteen years old, He found her inside an abandoned tire and took care of her in their university dorm. Sadie was the recipient of most of Ainsley’s tears after her parents death, is the companion and secret keeper of Rhett’s confidences.
This story is told in dual POV’s and alternated between eighteen months ago when it all started and present time. As the plot progresses, both timelines meet and there is only one timeline to the end. Initially, I felt that Rhett was a player, but then the story shows he’s a good and honest man who lost his way for part of the time. His love for Ainsley is front and center of his motivations and his everything. Very romantic, full of feelings and a lot of tears. Like!!
This book was nothing like what I thought it would be. A story of heartbreak, love, loss, forgiveness and everything in between. If you want a real tear jerker this is the book you need to read!
The beginning part took me a while to get into.
I have read a few of this trope so I was curious how this would be different.
They are so sweet together. Falling for your best friend’s sister is never easy and the bestie always seems to be overprotective and not keen on the idea of his little sister being with his best friend.
This is one of those stories you don’t read on your lunch breaks, the tears will flow, lesson learned.
I love second chance reads and this was a good one
Just Love is wonderfully written, and it’s obvious that a lot of time was taken with this story. The care involved in getting this one right shines through. That said, this book is a whole lot angsty, a lot more than I usually read. Granted, the blurb doesn’t give anything away, so I had no idea just how heartbreaking this journey was going to get. With that in mind, I won’t give any details here either, just be warned. There are some lighter moments as well as some steam with great chemistry, but much of this one will absolutely break your heart. Now, I said all of that to say this – despite all of the angst, despite the times when I wanted to put this down for something lighter, despite the tears when it got really hard to read, I’m still glad I read it. Rhett and Ainsley are terrific characters, and their story is one that will stick with me.
Just Love by Prescott Lane is a story that stays with you. I read the book a few days ago, but I can’t get it out of my head.
Ainsley Rose is a young woman , a romantic at heart, aannnnd she had a major crush on her brother’s best friend, Rhett.
Rhett and Brody are best friends since forever, they grew up together and now they co-own a veterinarian clinic. Rhett isn’t the settle down, picket fence type. He enjoys his life and his freedom. Yes he likes his friends little sister, but she’s strictly off limits, or so. Both start a secret relationship and everything evolves nicely, ’til karma throws a big fat wrench and everything changes in the blink of an eye. Nothing is what it was anymore, nothing. In the aftermath one of them has to build a new life and the other one, deeply wounded too, has to move on.
Just Love is a honest story, it shows truths, some beautiful, some painful and some downright ugly.
I started reading and was immediatedly sucked into the story and the drama that enfolds. I read this nailbiting, gutting tearjerker in one sitting. I simply couldn’t put the book down. I had to know what happened to the characters. I loved reading about the characters struggle, their despeartion, their disappointment and their ups and downs – and I loved every sentence, every minute.
Just Love is an emotional read and did I say I’m so in love with the story and the characters? No? But I am. I highly, highly recommend this outstanding book and wish I could give more than 5 stars.
To say that I loved this book isn’t saying enough. I devoured it. I was consumed by it. It broke my heart and then pieced it back together again. Just Love is anything than just a second-chance, best friend’s sister romance. It is a love story full of heart, loss, anger, grief, compassion, soul-searching and desperation. I sobbed. And yet somehow, it all comes back together again with a wonderful HEA that made my heart soar and cry happy tears.
Prescott Lane does a marvelous job of telling Ainsley and Rhett’s story, perfectly weaving chapters from the start of their secret relationship 18 months ago to present day, where they were engaged to be married and now not speaking at all. I kept tearing through chapters, waiting for the big blow-up that left Rhett so angry he pushed the love of his life away. And when I was on the precipice of finding out, I JUST KNEW what the next page was going to tell me. I did not see the twist coming, but it so perfectly explained so much about this couple’s split and the aftermath once they fell apart.
My only complaint is that I would have liked to have seen Rhett’s POV in finally reaching out to Ainsley. His desperation and regret was so clear as he found himself unable to dial the last number to call her. Then in Ainsley’s POV, he finally does. Why? What pushed him to finally make the call after a year?
That aside, this story is damn perfect. It is full of heartache and grief, but undeniable, everlasting, unconditional love. Rhett just had to be able to love himself once again and let Ainsley love him back.
I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.
Just love by Prescott Lane was an emotional life long journey and the discovery of not only finding your one true love, but somehow managing to hold on to that love especially when life throws you one hell of a curve ball.
Rhett has been very successful in his career as a veterinarian. He has a thriving practice with his best friend, he’s a gentleman, and his love for animals knows no end. Life couldn’t be any more better at this moment or at least that what he thinks. When his best friend’s little sister moves back to their hometown, Rhett is about to experience something truly foreign for the first time. Forbidden temptation.
Ainsley has always been a lover of love. From watching her parents have a love story that some people only read about, she knew what was the right kind of love and she wanted nothing more to experience that kind of earth shattering feeling. With that in mind, she creates beautiful wedding dress for other people hoping to bring something extra special on their day. Now back home, Ainsley has plans of opening up her own boutique and making a name for herself. But little does she know, is that her life is about to change drastically when she sees the one man who has always been there for her for the past ten years.
I’m going to admit that I was not expecting this kind of story. I knew that it was going to be a somewhat emotional romance and that the storyline was about a guy falling for his best friend’s little sister and I was more than okay with that. But we got so much more than that. There were tough struggles that would make anyone waver, heartache that was too much at times, unbelievable stupidity that had me wanting to shake these characters because we saw the sacrifices they were making, and most of all, we felt the love. There were no questions about it because It was something that we got to witness. The falling in love part was not the hardest, it was staying together.
Rhett and Ainsley’s love story was just that: a love story. I’m happy that I got to experience their love, their joy, and the heartbreak because every single thing made them stronger. As I said before, their road wasn’t easy but when you think about it, what love story ever is?
If you’re looking for a different emotional romance, then you should really give this one a try.

There are those few times where you read a book at the exact right moment you’re supposed to. I was meant to read this book, and it found me right when I needed it.
You think you might know, but you have no idea. This book is so much more than a best friends little sister story. This story will hit you with the emotions right from the get-go. With unexpected twists that’ll have you gasping for air and at the same time piercing your heart.
Rhett and Ainsley’s story is anything but easy. They will break your heart, obliterate it into smithereens. It’ll take time, but in the end your heart will be put back together.
Just Love is romance at its best. It’s both beautiful and heartbreaking. A love story that is the epitome of true love. Emotionally charged and all-consuming. This story in its entirety is filled with passion, love and hope. Just Love was everything unforgettable and everlasting. This book will stay with me forever and a piece of my heart will always be Rhett and Ainsley’s.

Just Love by Prescott Lane
5 +++++ Stars
Total perfection! OMG! What a heartbreaking but beautiful story! Really love the characters! Story is very emotional so be sure to grab those tissues!
“Falling in love is easy. Holding on to that love- well, that’s the real b****. ”
“There’s two sides to every love story. The how you fell in love, and the how you fell apart.”
Really recommend!!
This is one of the prettiest covers I’ve seen so far this year. The moment i saw it I knew I had to read it. Prescott Lane did not disappoint.
Rhett and Ainsley broke my heart but put it back together by the end of the book. I felt as I was part of their story. I was on the journey with them through all their emotions whether it was love, lust, pain and anger.
Just Love will have your heartbreaking as it is told from both Rhett and Ainsley’s perspective. The heartache both endure is so raw and will definitely bring tears to your eyes. This is a must read!
I have tried to sit down and write this review a few times but can’t seem to get the right words to describe how much I loved this book. I devoured it. I felt every word. I was heartbroken and spent. I was consumed. The story gripped me from the very beginning. We know something happened, but we do not know what. We know hearts were broken and lives altered. The author takes us on a journey of past and present that will have you turning the pages as fast as you can.
Ainsley, Brody, her brother, and Rhett, Brody’s best friend, were very close. Tragedy brought them together in a way they never expected. Through the years, they have always stood by each other no matter what. But when Ainsley is back after college, she has become a woman Rhett cannot stop from wanting. There is nothing innocent about the way they look at each other, much less want each other. Their chemistry and connection was undeniable. True love at its very best.
I loved Ainsley. She was sweet, caring, smart and full of sass. Rhett was sexy, charming, smart and a determined man. He was also a strong man. Their friendship easily gave way to more between them. It was fun, sexy and easy. Things could not have been more perfect, until they weren’t.
This story is not an easy one, but it was beautiful, touching, emotional and a must-read. I cannot begin to express how much I LOVED this story! LOVED IT! Just Love by Prescott is an all-consuming story about love, heartbreak, grief and the power of love. I devoured it! One of my top-favorite books of the year!

The Review:
This was a beautifully told, second chance, friends-to-lovers, childhood friends, forbidden romance that I enjoyed until the very last page. I’ve been a fan of this author since her first novel, and she just keeps getting better and better. She writes with passion and emotion and it shows in all of her works, but this one really hit all those emotional highs … and lows. There were a couple of shaky spots, but overall, this was a wonderful read I’m going to enjoy time and again.
Story/Characters…
Ainsley Rose – aka A.Rose – is a dreamer. After losing her parents when she was just a kid, her older brother cared for her and made sure she had a good life. It wasn’t always smooth sailing, but there was love. And there was Rhett, her brothers best friend. He was older. He helped raise her. He’s seen her at her worst. And he was completely off limits. Now she’s a woman, a wedding dress designer and completely believes in love.
Rhett loves his freestyle life. He loves the ladies and has no plans to settle down. Rhett has been a part of Brody and Ainsley’s lives since they were kids. They’ve been through everything together. All grown up, Rhett and Brody own a veterinarian clinic together, so their lives are completely intertwined. He needs his best friend in his life, and his little sister is a definite no-go zone.
But Ainsley temps him in ways he never imagined and he what would “just” a little “fun” hurt.
I loved the dynamics between Brody, Skye, Rhett, and Ainsley. The author does a great job bringing each character to life and making them a part of the reader’s life for a short while. I truly felt for all of them. They had some rough times, but also some fun times. They were great characters, easy to connect with and their story is going to be with me for a long time.
And I HAVE to mention the fifth and in my opinion, the best character of the book. Sadie. She deserves a shout out all of her own! This character was the bee’s knees and I couldn’t get enough of her.
As for the shaky parts I mentioned, there was a bit of jumping around from past to present that could have used a smoother transition. I felt jarred back and forth in a couple of places. There were also a few moments where the story seemed to stall and I had to put down my ereader and take a break so that I could go back in with full steam. And lastly, there were a few character actions that made me do a lip curl, but that was quickly passed over with the consuming and exceptional plot.
The Wrap Up:
This was a well-written novel, with interesting and notable characters. There were a couple of twists that really hit that “twisty” spot I crave in my books, and it had a sincere and realistic feel. The romance was spot on with lots of sexual tension and a wild burn that had me turning the pages to see what happened next.
