description
“There’s two sides to every love story. The how you fell in love, and the how you fell apart.”
It’s such JUST LIFE isn’t it.
So many stories of so many couples falling in love, some find their HEA, some break up, never to meet again.
This book ISN’T THAT….it’s so much MORE!!
Beautiful story starts as forbidden love. There’s rules in life for a reason. Bros before Hoes, chicks before Docks, best friend’s little sister is OFF LIMITS, but this aortic pump that beats inside the chest cavity has an agenda of it own.
So technically Prescott has drawn the growth chart of this muscle we call heart.
Rhett Bennett’s best buddy Brody, his gf Skye and his baby sister are a fun foursome, thicker than thieves. They’ve held each other through tragedies and travesties, wiped each other’s tears and smiled and laughed together. So it’s a fated coincidence that Rhett falls unsteadily for Ainsley…his A.Rose. They’re still trying to be casual about it
It’s JUST FUN isn’t it.
“Everything is “just” something: just fun, just love, just dinner. Like use of the word “just” makes things less significant. If I were a betting woman, I’d say before long, he’s going to be using “just friends” on me.”
Hearts in tango, limbs entwined, stealing moments of blissful unawareness in kisses and snuggles,Life morphs their perspectives and relationships to an extent that when does simple, no strings fun turns into JUST LOVE they don’t even realise.
But man proposes and God disposes….unfortunate fate twists their path where they ALL get lost!!
“Nobody dies a virgin. Life fucks us all.
Some cried a lot.
Some worked a lot.
Some disappeared.
Some soldiered on.
And some, like Skye, just got pissed.”
The story jumps from present to past 18 months ago, for a very special reason. Prescott skillfully captures angst and tears in her pages. The story moved me, would be an understatement. It gouged out my heart, would be more suitable to say.
The characters are all lost in their heads, refusing to open up and I could split my nails to pry open those tightly shut hearts, if I just could
“I could’ve gone back a long time ago. Only I got stuck looking at all the things I couldn’t have anymore, instead of looking at all the things that were right in front of me.”
Each word brought wide smiles or streams of tears for me. Fate not only flipped their lives but mine too!! I sobbed, I cried, I hurt, I ached…I couldn’t get enough of it
The story was so formidable in sentiments, I physically ached for Ainsley and Rhett.
From radiating rosy glow to Grey of looming clouds, this story had ALL the shades of emotional spectrum and then some…
“They always say when you’re in love, you glow, but no one ever talks about what you look like when you lose love, when it punches you in the gut. Love has done some serious damage.”
Be prepared to have the proverbial rug pulled out from under you until you thump fall on the floor, stunned and stupefied. When all will seem hopeless, Prescott holds your hand and takes you further….
When all is butchered and unsalvageable……the only option is to Go Back To The Start
Go discover the journey called Immeasurable Love, redefined by Prescott. You’ll find Faith and be thankful for every tiny blessing in your life
5 Pink Roses for JUST ONE MORE CHANCE
Just Love is a heartbreaking and beautiful story. It starts out as a swoony big brother’s best friend sort of romance with taboo trysts and sneaking around as Ainsley & Rhett discover there is more than friendship and protectiveness between them.
“I’m sure I love her.”
“You have to be sure you can let her love you,” he says.
In a twist I never saw coming the story takes a bit of a heartbreak turn. Rhett and Ainsley both need to find out if Just Love is enough to propel them over the hurdles that life throws at them.
“Get over yourself,” I say. “Or get over me. It’s your choice.”
I loved seeing Ainsley grow during this story from a sweet naive girl falling in love to a strong woman who won’t settle for less than Just Love.
-4 Stars!-
Just when I thought I couldn’t love Prescott Lane anymore than I already did, she went and delivered JUST LOVE, a romance at it’s best, that had me falling in love a thousand more times.
Just Love was the kind of romance I love to read about—with unexpected twists, a touching plot, irreplaceable friendships, and words that hit you right in the feels and worm its way into your heart and soul .
Prescott Lane delivers a story that is both beautiful and heartbreaking, and once again proves why she is one of my most favorite authors. Because Just Love wasn’t just a book, but an experience—a true love experience. A love story that you won’t forget—passionate, emotionally intense, and utterly consuming.
From ugly crying to sweet and sexy, this books was EVERYTHING , the emotions were so intense that they will stay with you long after the last page. Get ready for Ainsley & Rhett to break your heart, but I guarantee that they will put it back together again. Best of 2019.
Heartbreakingly beautiful.
When I started this story, I wondered if I’d cry. At the final chapters, I’d cried several times. It’s emotionally draining and fulfilling at the same time, like a heart pumping life in and out.
So beautiful, so heartbreaking and emotional it hurts. It’s pure love. Love beyond the thrill of passion and happiness. It’s about the love that we give and accept which is the hardest of all when our lives are half broken.
I really didn’t imagine what this story would be like when I fell in love with the cover. I just knew I had to find out what hid beneath its delicate beauty. And it’s a storm of larger-than-life emotions. The characters share endless kinds of feelings and experiences throughout the years. So much that it made me relate to them as if they were family, even myself in their skins.
Tragedy bonded them at first through sacrifice and unconditional support, as a family of two siblings and a close friend. Then, this insightful and masterful double POV offers an anternative angle between past and present as a forbidden relationship unfolds parallel to a heartbreak the source of which the reader is not privy to yet. Oh, when that event aka mind-blowing plot twist takes place, a whole new world of torn feelings and dramatic love fills the pages with an incredibly gripping story. My heart went out to both of them because they’re clearly in love, but mistakes and especially fear and vulnerability raise a barrier between them.
Watching that obstacle excruciatingly crumble to give room to freely love again made for a deeply moving read. I cried for everything they lost, for their honesty at the end, and for the naked words that spoke with such powerful human nature. It truly lives up to that haunting cover.
Rhett gets Ainsley to walk Sadie his dog with him, they talk about old times and get to know each other again, all the while he has to remember that she’s the little sister, but she’s flirting with him making it harder and harder to resist, but he doesn’t do relationships.
Thinking that Ainsley had a date was enough to convince Rhett that she had to be his. Rhett asks if she can lie to Skye and Brodie and they can have some fun together. Ainsley agrees that it can be just fun.
The fun starts to blur, Ainsley has him tied up in knots, he’s breaking his own rules. The both wish he wasn’t her brother’s best friend. Their lies keep piling up not letting anyone know their together.
Rhett tells Brody and it doesn’t go well, not talking to Brody Ainsley encourages him to go to the bachelor party. Going to the bachelor party for Brody, Rhett realises that he’d seen it for years, but it was the lies that hurt and that she lied to him. Things are looking better for them, Brody doesn’t seem as mad, but that night begins their ending.
Rhett did what he thought was right at the time, ruining everything they had, ruining his friendship with his best friend, but things change. Rhett knows he loves Ainsley but then he’s asked can he let her love him. He knows to get her back it has to be different he has to let her love him but will she.
When I saw this cover for Just Love by Prescott Lane, I knew I had to read this book. It’s a stunning, incredibly creative cover. Now, the innards… I find that dual POV books (which are totally my favorite) that flip between a past and present timeline are a bit harder to follow at first. However, the more you get into the story and the characters, the more you’ll understand the time swap. It’s just a bit more difficult in the beginning and because I was having my Kindle device read to me off and on. I love be a good best friends little sister romance. I think that all stems from me having older brothers and always crushing on their friends. I never had any amazing ones come in and snatch me up!
This is a story that starts right out hittin you in the heart. Rhett has helped raise Ainsley with his best friend, Body, and Brody’s girlfriend Skye. Brody and Ainsley’s parents died when Brody was 18 and Ainsley was 15. Can you even imagine that responsibility being thrusted on you at 18? How terrifying! So Ainsley isn’t just off limits, she is way past the limit and not even on the board. How would anyone get past Rhett and Ainsley being together if they don’t work out? So really does it matter if they have something on the down low? Something that is just for them? I mean, what could go wrong? Right?
Everything goes wrong. This story is a mess of emotions. I really had no way of knowing the kind of torment Prescott Lane was going to put me through. I mean, this was painful. It’s been a while since I’ve felt a book so deeply in my heart. Just Love is a story that shocks your heart… it’s like a jump start to emotional land… its unstable there! Miss Lane’s writing and story-telling is serious perfection. She tells a story that encompasses all of life’s ups and downs. I can’t recommend this book more… if you’re looking for a story that gives you just life, just love, and even a bit of just sex… this is the book for you. Just don’t forget some tissues, there will be just tears!
I received an ARC of this book with the hope that I would leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that… my opinions.
Prescott Lane’s blurb for Just Love is a case of where it is perfect and yet so terribly wrong. The blurb gives you the idea that the story is about love lost and second chances and while it is, it is such a small part of what Just Love is about.
Ainsley is back home in Charleston after completing college and trying to figure out what she wants to do with her life. She moves into her brother, Brody’s, condo which is downstairs from Rhett’s condo. Rhett, and Skye, Brody’s fiance, have been in Ainsley’s life for a long time. When Brody and Ainsley’s parents died when she was 15 and Brody was 22. Brody, along with Skye and Rhett, took over parenting responsibilities for Ainsley. Now, Ainsley is grown up and knows what she wants and it’s Rhett.
Told between the present where we know that things did not work out between Rhett and Ainsley and the past starting at 18 months prior, Prescott leads the reader through the stages of Rhett and Ainsley’s relationship. How it builds and grows. How Rhett, the consummate player without a care in the world beyond work becomes a man in love who starts thinking about the future. How Ainsley, a woman who knows who she wants and is willing to risk it all, brings out the best in Rhett while keeping their secret from the brother she adores.
It’s not until just beyond mid-read that the heart of the book opens up and readers find out why Rhett has walked away from not only Ainsley but his best friend and his vet practice. It’s when Just Love more than a best friend’s little sister, second chance romance. It becomes a powerful story about strength. The strength of people, the strength of family and the strength of love. Prescott Lane character’s take a hard look at what a perfect life should look like and our ability to see beyond that “perfection” and still see beauty.
This is a beautiful, heartwrenching story of rising above the imperfections and the difficulties and finding your “perfect” life.
Hes known her over ten years in the capacity of his best friends little sister.
He knew she was off limits, not only because of who she is, but who he is.
He has commitment issues, the hills his friend when things get serious.
Shes a hopeless romantic, the girl who isnt afraid to say “I love you”. The complete opposite of him.
But still they went there, and now .. now everything is so wrong it’s never going to be right again… or is it?
What a beautiful emotional read, full of tears, tissues, watery smiles and hope.
Two hearts entwined through time and space, through the good, and the bad times.
Shattered hearts broken and full of fear but drawn to each other time and time again.
Rhett the ladies man, who has no intention of settling. He has the moves, and charisma to charm the coldest of hearts.
Ainsley the girl who dreams of her forever man, who doesn’t know how to be casual, but willing to try. For him, for them.
I fell in love with them both from the start, their personalities bedazzled me!
They are both amazing characters, who will steal your heart and leave you with a tear streaked face.
But you know what, they are more than worthy of every tear you shed.
Another addictive read from Prescott Lane!
“If love should be anything, it should be honest.”
There are books you like. There are books you adore. And there are books like Just Love- the books, that are getting under your skin and will stay with you forever. Everything concerning this story is beautiful. From the gorgeous and eye-catching cover, through interesting and original plot, to the unique and loveable characters. But for me the most important is a message this story carries- love is a two-way street. And it’s not about giving. It’s about receiving. Do you allow others to love you fully? Or are you unknowingly drawing the line somewhere?
Rhett knows Ainsley for a long time. She’s his friend’s little sister and after their parents death Rhett helped to raise her. At first she was like a sister to him, but in the course of time his feelings changed from brotherly to something way different. But Rhett drew the line where Ainslin was concerned. He didn’t want to jeopardize his friendship with her brother and besides, he didn’t believe in marriage and everlasting love. But just when Ainsley get back from the college and moved in the same building as Rhett, deeply hidden feelings started to get out. Something that started as casual fun became deeper and more intense. And just when happily ever after was waiting nearby, life decided to put love between Rhett and Ainsley to the biggest test.
I can’t count how many times I needed to grab a tissue to wipe my eyes. Prescott Lane didn’t write a simple brother-best-friend’s romance. Compared to other events in this book, this trope became just a background and the way the love between main characters was born. But the heartbreak, devastation and then attempts to save this love took over the reins in this story. Yes, Prescott Lane stabbed me straight in my heart, but I wasn’t only crying during this read. There were also sweet, swoon-worthy moments, incredibly passionate and sexy times, funny and laughable parts. And although Ainsley and Rhett’s love story is gut-wrenching, emotionally charged and intense, it’s one of the most beautiful tales I’ve ever read. With this book Prescott Lane got herself a fan for life. I can’t wait to read more stories from this author.
Highly recommend!
I LOVE to read new and new-to-me authors and Prescott Lane is just that! This ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS cover is the first thing that drew me in…and then I read the blurb and I was intrigued! Let me just say that NOTHING prepared me for what I was about to read behind said cover!!! This book (and this author) TOTALLY BLEW ME AWAY with this STELLAR, CAPTIVATING, ANGST-FILLED and HEART-SMASHING 5+ star read!!!
Just Love is a standalone, told in dual point of view with a twist (this INCREDIBLE story goes back and forth between the past and the present but it really couldn’t be told any other way!) I was immediately hooked in the first chapter….actually, I was hooked after reading the blurb, to tell you the truth…and it just got better and better as I read! I went through the entire gamut of emotions. From the initial awareness of a teenaged girl (Ainsley) that her brother’s best friend (Rhett…how PERFECT is that?) is HAWT to her having a HUGE unrequited crush on him to the heart-and-soul-satisfying conclusion and ALLLLLL the angst and heart-break in between, I ABSOLUTELY fell in love with these characters!!!
The roller-coaster ride of emotions starts in the first chapter and never lets up the entire journey! All I can say is, you WILL need TONS of tissue (and maybe have some chocolate and wine, or your alcoholic beverage of choice, handy as well!) Prepare to have your heart DECIMATED…but Ms. Lane finishes it off PERFECTLY in the end and puts it all back together again, definitely not the same as it was BEFORE this epic journey, but I think, better than it was before reading this unique, UNFORGETTABLE, UTTERLY UN-PUT-DOWNABLE TOP FAVE READ of 2019!!! I can’t wait to read more from this author if THIS is an example of what I’ve been missing!!!

Prescott Lane is relatively new to me but I have to say with each book I read I’m loving everything about her characters and her style of writing and she is fast becoming a go to author for me.
If you are looking for a love story that will captivate you and take over your life look no further than this book, the story flips back and forth between the past and the present but it worked so well because so much of this journey revolves around the past. This is an emotional love story that will have you hitting some real highs as well as real lows as we join Ainsley and Rhett’s epic journey to true love. The cover is stunning and the story is a beautifully written second chance love story that I’m sure will touch many readers on so many levels. Great read and I’m looking forward to more from this very talented author.
The story goes back and forth between the past and present. It slowly reveals what happened to Ainsley and Rhett. I enjoyed this writing technique because it teased us with details without revealing everything at once. It compelled me to keeping reading to find out what happened to have drastically changed their lives. At first I thought Rhett pushed Ainlsey away because things got too real for him so imagine my shock when the truth was revealed. I thought I was going to start crying!
To think that one moment changed everything not just for them but for the people around them was heart breaking. Rhett’s actions were understandable given the circumstances but it was a cruel way to behave. Ainlsey is such a trooper. She has this incredible inner strength and eternal optimism that is admirable. I did however find it hard to accept when she forgave so easily. After everything that she went through, I would have thought she would guard her heart better. However, on the other side, I do understand why gave in so quickly. Love does that to a person. You can’t switch it off no matter how badly someone hurts you.
Just Love was a heartbreakingly beautiful tale about the lies people tell themselves to protect their hearts. It examines how people focus on the things they’ve lost rather than what they still have and can do. It highlights love and how love is like faith. In order for love to bloom, you need to have faith and trust in it. Without it, love has no possibility to grow. This story was well written and filled with emotion and feeling.
Prescott Lane has become a favorite of mine. She has a way of dragging me heart over head in love. Ainsley and Rhett are a heartache in waiting. Their emotions are a frustrating mix of breathless, heartbreaking and unpredictable. Just Love is romance at it’s best and heartache at it’s worst. From ugly cry to winning smile and captivating storytelling. A heart can only take so much, but Lane makes the painful moments a worthwhile journey.
*4.5-5 Stars*
ARC kindly received in exchange for an honest review.
This is only my second Prescott Lane book, but once again she made me feel all the feels. Rhett and Ainsleys story is more than that of just the best friends little sister. They’ve shared a bond for a long time, different to that of friends.
Their journey is told through both past and present, and at first it took me a little to get used to that, but then I realised why Prescott did it this way, and how it adds to the understand of their story.
This is more of a deep and serious story, with some fun bits thrown in as well. We have some great secondary characters, including Sadie, my fave. A roller coaster of a journey about life and its circumstances and our decisions.
I truly enjoyed this story and loving these characters along the way. I was brought to tears by the end, but I highly recommend this one. I look forward to more from this author.
4 1/2 Stars!
Wow, Just Love was a heart string pulling read. This one was full of emotions. I don’t much when reading books. This one didn’t make me cry but I did have to take a few of those deep breaths in an emotional way. Ainsley’s brother is Rhett’s best friend. Rhett and Ainsley have a park and great connection. They hide their relationship because you’re not suppose to date her best friend’s sister. So, when their secret comes out I thought everything was going to be goodish but something else happens. There was another time i thought everything was going to be good too but it wasn’t. These two had me back and forth and I was worried they won’t get a happy ending. This one was wonderfully written and had me hooked from beginning to end.
Firstly, I couldn’t start this review without making mention of the cover! It is stunning! Now I know you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover, but if you are already going into it with a smile, its got to be a plus.
This novel took me on so many paths before we got to the epilogue, that at first I was unsure if it was for me. There are two parts to the novel, and the first part is a little jumpy with past and present times and the two different lead characters. Once I got that worked out, it flowed much better. At one point, I thought I knew where the storyline was going, but at the half way mark, I was totally wrong. And it surprised me in a good way, a sad way, but it gave the book more spunk and backbone. It also made the present time, part one, make more sense in their choices. I hope that isn’t too cryptic, as I do not want to give anything away. Its a story that you need to travel and explore on your own.
What I will tell you is these characters had me liking them, loving them, hating them, loving them, so you can see I got all the ambience I am sure the author was trying to convey. Yes, it is a brothers best friend trope, as well as a second chance romance, but it is so much more than that. There is definitely angst, and the good angst that has your heart beating fast, and holding your breath waiting for the outcome. At times, I was mad at them both, but when you truly take in what had happened, and how can things ever be the same, it wasn’t until the last few chapters, when Rhett was showing her, that I put myself in their shoes. I have no idea how I would handle the situation, and I would hope with the same grace that Ainsley did, but they both had to come to terms with it and go through all the emotions. And then, I ‘just’ wanted to hug them both and be excited for their future.
Lastly, I cherished that epilogue. It was the best conclusion for this couple and it made my heart melt. This is the first book I have read from this author and I know I will be looking out for more from her.

The title of this book really fits this book!! It truly is JUST LOVE that makes the world go round. I didn’t truly know what to expect in this book, but we truly get so much more than just a forbidden love story.
Ms. Lane has done it again, she has created a story that I was completely invested in. This story sucked me in and took me on an emotional rollercoaster ride. Not only with Rhett and Ainsley but with the side characters as well, especially Sadie.
Just Love is Prescott Lane’s newest standalone novel. It is told in Dual POV and switches between past and present time frames. I thought this was an interesting way to tell Ainsley and Rhett’s story. Normally I don’t like it when an author presents a story this way, but for some reason it really worked in this case. This is a forbidden best friend’s little sister story. but really it is also a second chance romance too. I thought the characters were amazing and I loved following them on their journey to a HEA. This book had all the feels…I was laughing at certain parts, but then I was also crying throughout the story. Some parts even made me mad, I wanted to slap someone….lol. I think everyone who reads this book needs to do it with some tissues next to them.
In Just Love we follow the story of Rhett and Ainsley. Rhett has been Ainsley’s brother best friend for many years, but he also has known Ainsley for just as long. Ainsley has been harboring a secret crush on Rhett since she was 16 years old, but as she has gotten older it has grown into something more. So when Rhett crosses that line and makes a move Ainsley is thrilled. But can this forbidden love really have a HEA?? What happens when Ainsley’s brother finds out?
Truthfully there are so many things that are fighting against these two, I couldn’t help but fight for their HEA with them. As I said this is so much more than just a best friend’s sister story, get ready to be taken on a journey of love, regret, and forgiveness.
I would recommend this book to all of Prescott Lane fans. you don’t want to miss this next amazing standalone novel!!!
This deserves way more tha 5 stars!!!!
Is it strange that my reading habits this week seem to have taken a turn to the grittier side of life?? Mostly it’s dirty sexy, often sweet and swoony stories that make me hot under the collar- or further south if I’m being honest lol, or just plain and simple happy to have read it. But this week, I have read not 1 but 2 books that have had me stop and think, I mean, really, really think; about the other side of life. The one we don’t really come up against in our everyday lives, well, I don’t for one.
Just Love isn’t just a love story, it’s so much more than that. The ties that bind Ainsley and Rhett together are many and binding, but sometimes, even that isn’t enough.
It started out as a simple best friend’s little sister romp, but it became so much more. Deeper, harsher, harder. It plunged me into a gut-wrenching, emotion soaked, fear ridden roller-coaster ride. I laughed in the beginning, I huffed and ground my teeth in the middle and I cried. I full on snot-cried at the end. Sadie, aaah, Sadie!!!
This story has it all. Love, laughter, anger, despair, regret, forgiveness and all consuming love. It’s sure to be on my list for this years TOP reads.
I picked this up on a recommendation from a friend and am I glad I did!
1. How is this the first book I’ve read by Prescott Lane?
2. Not sure how my heart is still beating in my chest.
3. That broken heart is also incredibly full after reading Just Love.
Ainsley and Rhett’s story got me good. This book was so emotional. My chest ached. My stomach hurt. And that was just the first half of it. This is a love story in its purest form. It was full of pain and turmoil. But there was also so much hope and healing, redemption and forgiveness.
My heart was taken on a devil of a rollercoaster ride with this one. Hats off to Prescott Lane for taking a good harsh look at how the same tragedy effects everyone differently. Rhett learned that the very hard way. And it took him a good while to realize all his mistakes, but when he did, he went about to set things right. His growth and redemption was made all the sweeter because he had to work so hard for it. And there waiting on the sideline was Ainsley. Giving her love in the only way she knew how. Fully and without hesitation. And that ending, it was just perfect. Just them.
This book… THIS BOOK!!! I cried… I laughed… I cried again… It had all the emotions and boy did I ever fall for these characters! Hands down will be in my top 5 for 2019.
I’ve been reading Prescott for a while and this book is by far her best yet. She has a great way of weaving the story and grabbing your attention, making you feel each of the excitement of the characters, the passion, the remorse, the love, the grief.
This is a journey of two people who fall madly in love. Its a secret though, since she is his best friend and business partner’s little sister. But the moment these two connect on the page, you know they are destined to be together. But when tragedy strikes, is love, JUST LOVE enough?
I felt so much reading this book. I had to put it down at times to get take in the moments – the emotional pulls, the heartache and then the healing.
Although the book has some light moments, for the most part, it’s a heavy book. I had a good cry reading it. And fell in love with the hope that love can conquer all. Read this book. You won’t be sorry.
