What’s the worst thing that could happen to two commitment-phobes? A one-night-stand set-up date—that ends in the ER instead of the bedroom. Now the girl who prides herself on not needing anyone for anything is stuck with a guilt-ridden playboy determined to take care of her until her wrist heals. In spite of his one-night-only rule with women. But hey, there’s nothing wrong with making the best of … making the best of being temporarily stuck together, is there? Because the key word is still temporarily.

Sam Bradford has a phobia about commitment so he only has sex one time with each of the women who come through his life like a revolving door. Sam is the good time guy but he’s known not to be able to fix anything, however he can make a woman orgasm. That is why two women set him up with their sister. But solely for one purpose only…to make her have the orgasm she has never had, to show her what great sex can be like. He’s definitely on board with that plan.
Danika Steffen doesn’t need a man, she can fix anything with the right tools. Her sisters are both happy and want her to be happy too. So, instead of her keeping men at arm’s length they want her to know that men can be good at some rather important things.
Sam figures this will be easy and he won’t have to break his one time rule. In and out so to speak! He is having a good time on his date to the adult store with Dani when they have to make a pit stop for him to finish up a job. Dani ends up in the ER with a broken wrist and not in Sam’s bed.
Sam feels so guilty for Dani’s accident that he volunteers to stay with her and do whatever needs to be done for her. His rule is broken and they haven’t even slept together, then Dani figures Sam needs to be taken more seriously and it’s driving her crazy. Maybe they both just need a lil TLC!
The second in Erin Nicholas’s Just Everyday Heroes: Day Shift series (formerly known as the Bradfords), Just Like That is about Sam Bradford and Danica.
Dani’s sisters have decided she really needs a man who knows what he’s doing in the bedroom, and well, no one is better at that than Sam. Sam is famous for his string of very satisfied one-night stands. He’s a great guy but is also known for not being the responsible one. His familial losses have really shaped how he sees himself and his role in the world. Dani’s have done the same, only in different ways.
It doesn’t take long before their chemistry is burning hot and fierce, and Sam realizes he wants way more than one night. And Ms Nicholas does her amazing work in bringing us along for his journey to recognizing this and what he needs to do about it.
Sam and Dani are a great couple, surrounded by fantastic friends and family. One of Ms Nicholas’s strengths is the rich community she creates and the warmth and emotion that come with it. This is one incredibly satisfying read, in a series of incredibly satisfying reads 🙂
Can’t wait to read the rest of this Day Shift’s stories!
Just Like That is book 2 in the Just Everyday Heroes: Day Shift and what a great addition to the series!
This book is about Sam Bradford, paramedic extraordinaire and seducer of women but only for one night and Danika Steffens who is independent and doesn’t need a man but her sisters think Sam is the one to show her what she is missing…except instead she ends up in the ER.
Lots of steam, humor, entertaining and romance keeps you turning the pages!!
I enjoyed meeting Sam in the first book and I loved Sam in this one. Sam is what would be known as the good time guy- always happy, up for anything and can let things go with no problem. But was he really? It was more of a role or act that he took on after his father’s death and it protected him and his family or so he thought. Danika was not interested in a relationship because of her parent’s relationship, even though they were married and somewhat happy I was what Danika perceived as a strain because of her mother’s illness. Sam and Danika were perfect together because they both only wanted one night together until Danika got hurt on that first night. Sam felt responsible and designated himself her care giver until she was better. It was more that he was attracted to her and didn’t quite understand the emotion and what he was feeling. Danika liked being with Sam but keep trying to convince herself that it wasn’t real because it wasn’t what either of the wanted. But they started actually enjoying being together- out of bed and in it. They really were a great couple and helped each other when they normally would do it alone. They also realized just needing someone didn’t make them dependent or lessen your involvement with their lives. Danika was great for Sam because she stood up for him and never put demands on him, she seemed to know that he loved her but just didn’t know how to show that emotion and waited for him to figure it out. I can’t wait to read Sara’s(Sam’s younger sister)story next.
Loved this crazy fun, emotionally thrilling, action packed romantic journey filed with laughter, passion, fun family, and awesome friends….
Fell in love with Sam in book one, he is so easy going and lovable you can’t help but enjoy his company. Dani is sexy, smart, handy and determined to never need anyone for any reason…. Loved her independence yet strong need for Sam.. Highly entertaining
Middle child Sam Bradford is Head Paramedic and a laid back and undemanding. He’s a casanova who has no plans of ever being tied down. Carmen, second in command ER nurse, picks him to give her independent and sexually up-tight sister her first organism with a man. Danika Seffen has determined she’ll never depend on a man for anything. She is a miss-fix-it and resents her sister setting her up. She gives in to prove to her sister it won’t work and ends up helping Sam with some fix-up at an old lady’s house he’s doing anonymously. While there Sam distracts her with nibbles behind her knees she falls and breaks her wrist. The ER-orthopedic doc is concerned it set right and sends her home under Sam’s supervision with orders she’s not to use it for anything. Sam is riddled with guilt and Dani is used to doing and not being inactive. Plus it’s her right hand!
Erin has an absolutely delightful author’s voice and a talent for making everyday people rich and intriguing. I love her laugh out loud moments. I only wish I found her sooner so I have been enjoying her stories sooner.
Ah, Sam And Danika. All I can say is that they are one explosive couple. The sexual chemistry. Wow! But they aren’t just hot together, they were really cute too. I loved their banter. I loved how they didn’t want a commitment but they found they really enjoyed each other’s company. It was sweet at times. Overall, they were so much fun to read. There was one moment when I wanted to smack Sam for Danika but it was cute how everything played out.
Sam and Dani remind me of the 70’s hit by one-hit-wonder, 10cc, and thanks to the movie, Guardians of the Galaxy, another generation was introduced to “I’m Not In Love.” Dani doesn’t need a guy, and Sam never cares enough about a girl to have a repeat and he definitely does NOT get serious. It’s always the characters who think they have everything figured out who are the most entertaining to watch when love comes sweeping in, changing all the rules, and Sam and Dani’s story is a true delight! I’m right there with them in the story while Dani explains how she doesn’t need a man and Sam keeps insisting he doesn’t ever get serious, and the whole time I’m thinking, “Yeah, and I suppose you’re not in love, either.” *snicker* And then I settle back in gleefully to continue enjoying the show.
Erin Nicholas has a true gift of crafting a story and creating a reading experience that fully immerses every one of the reader’s senses with characters who are loveable, perfectly flawed and endlessly captivating. They sweep you up and carry you along their journey until, far too soon, their ever after is happily reached. And darn if she doesn’t make it a heck of a fun ride, dropping humor bombs smack dab in the middle of the intense and sexy times both. It’s like being slung around on a rollercoaster until the ride slows to a stop, leaving you breathless and giggling, having had the time of your life. Whether you “hang on Hannah” or throw your arms in the air and scream, Just Like That is an exhilarating, must-read ride you won’t ever forget!
WOWZER!!!! Never before has a book made me laugh, spit my Starbucks out and go OMG on the very first page. I mean wow. Erin Nicholas got me from page one, paragraph one. Not what I expected to read on first page. Erin’s books are unique in the aspect that you do get romance but you also get humour and passion and just all around heart swooning and breathtaking moments. I felt a wide variety of emotions in Just Like That. Erin Nicholas brings romance to a new level. She shows us that romance can be fun and exciting. I thouroughly enjoy her writing style. Erin is one amazing author that really captivated her readers from the beginning. Erin always gets to the heart.
In Just Like That we get Sam Bradford’s story. We also meet Danika also known as Dani Steffen. Dani’s sister’s have chosen Sam to give Dani her first orgasm. Sam is well versed when it comes to the bedroom. Sam isn’t about relationship’s. He has with a woman once and then it’s on to the next woman. Dani has things organized. She doesn’t want to fall in love so she chooses her boyfriend’s in a way that guarantees she won’t fall in love. Dani has never had an orgasm while having sex. Enter Sam who is willing to help her in that department. From the moment they meet you see the chemistry between them.
There were a few lines I really loved. “Learning to have orgasms with you would be like learning to play chopsticks with Beethoven”,
“Oral sex is like knitting?” Sam said “This I’ve got to hear”,
“You love fudge brownies,” Abi said “But your dating vanilla cupcakes.”
Then there is my all time favorite line
“Now let’s say you were going to seduce a guy. You knew you were going to see him later at a party. What would you wear?”
“My black bra and panties, I guess,” she finally said
“Did you buy those because they are sexy?”
“No. I bought them for my aunt’s funeral.”
I mean that was my all time favorite. I couldn’t stop laughing. I laughed so hard my sides hurt. I still laugh when I think of it.
I must say I thoroughly enjoyed Just Like That. Just Like That made me laugh so much I actually had tears in my eyes from laughing. Sam and Dani truly are the perfect match. Erin Nicholas has captured my heart and interest from the first page and kept it all the way through the entire book. I felt my heart swoon and even felt the struggles both Sam and Dani were going through. I really felt as if I were there and was a part of the story. I really could see the first chapter actually happening. Dani and her sister’s remind me of myself and my sister’s. I also enjoyed the parts with Tommie. My heart went out to Tommie and it opened my eyes to a softer more caring Sam. Well done Erin Nicholas. A fantastic read that is guaranteed to have your heart swooning and you laughing and maybe even crying all in one book. Grab your copy and see why Just Like That is my favorite book by Erin Nicholas.
Just an awesome read! Just fun! Just hot! Just emotional! Just a great read!
Oh Sam! When the King of one night stands agrees to help an inexperienced, relationship weary social worker, it seems like the perfect solution. Dani gets a great experience and Sam gets a wild night with a hot girl. Except he really likes her. And then she gets hurt. And so begins a sexy, friendly, loving relationship that neither of them wanted but is quite possibly exactly what they need.
I loved Sam! He was funny and sexy. I loved watching him fall for Dani. Dani was so independent, I wanted to shake her a few times! I loved watching her come to trust Sam. Great addition to this fantastic series!
Sam and Dani’s story is simply amazing!!! I couldn’t get enough of the two of them. I loved all the sweet things Sam and his friends did for the older ladies. That touched my heart!!!
Wow!! Sam finally grew up. Danika was exactly what he needed to realize his self-worth. Their connection was unexpected but just right!!!!
Now, bring on Mac and Sara’s story. I want to know what all of these romantic hints lead up to.
Talk about a great first scene! Danika & her sisters were at the local bar when her sisters decided it was time to discuss her sex life, or lack of one, loudly. I totally identified with how embarrassed & humiliated Danika was. Especially since Sam & his fellow paramedics were at the next table & had to have heard everything. Sam prides himself on teaching women how to have better sex & decides Danika should be his next project.
Danika & Sam seem to have the same problem. They both withhold part of themselves. Danika keeps her head involved so she can’t lose control. Sam is determined to keep things light & easy. He feels by not becoming too involved, he won’t disappoint others & they won’t expect more. It’s fun watching them being drawn closer & closer as they keep fighting it. Even though this is Book 2, each book is a self contained story. The characters just rotate as being main vs. supporting. Each can be read as a stand alone.
