“Hot, humorous, and dirty in the best possible way. Amazingly well written. Highly recommend!!!” —Anna Zaires, New York Times bestselling authorFor ten long years, I stayed away to protect her.I thought I’d successfully subverted my wolf’s instincts where Bethany was concerned. But when I saw her on that dance floor, my inner beast took over. I told myself it would be just one dance. One dance and … over.
I told myself it would be just one dance. One dance and I’d let her go.
I didn’t mean to bite her.
Or f*ck her in the middle of a crowded dance club.
Or kidnap her… again.
NOTE: “Just Like Animals is a fast-paced dirty ride” (to quote a reviewer). The romance between the main couple is written to work as a standalone for readers new to the Werelock Evolution world. However, please note that this is book number 5 within the Werelock Evolution series, so it also continues elements of the overarching storyline for the world. 90k word, full-length novel. HEA with NO cheating.more
I broke my pearls reading this book.
I am so angry with Hettie right now, it’s not even funny. I loath Raul, always have, and she goes and gives him such an amazing mate like Bethany. A feisty, funny, doesn’t deal with basic bitches, Bethany. I couldn’t think of anyone more undeserving than Raul.
THEN, she has the audacity to create scenes that are so intimate and cute between the two of them, I found myself smiling at how perfect they were as a couple. WTF?! Who does that?! I was perfectly fine in my feelings for Raul, the bullshitting bastard. Still am by the way. He’s too conniving to be trusted. Plus, the guy thinks in hashtags, enough said.
Fair warning, this book is dirty, Hettie doesn’t hold back as the book opens up with Raul seeing his mate on the dance floor of a club, and Bethany coming on his hands during a dance together, leading to the best line ever, “Holy baby Jesus in a filthy fucking manger.” Bethany has some of the best lines in this book.
Don’t expect a weak character from Bethany, she goes toe to toe with Raul, leading to him having to drug and kidnap her, just to get his own way, typical. I mean really, are we surprised? That would be the only way Raul could get someone as amazing as Bethany to be with him.
Just Like Animals is a fast paced dirty ride! It’ll leave you wanting more, if you’re an unapologetically greedy reader, like me. One click this book, call in sick, lock the doors, draw the blinds, and enjoy!
#WASHYOHANDS
Hettie has created a wild ride. If you are looking for a hard core, naughty read. Hettie is definitely! Please add to your collection. A must have!
Let me just say that firstly, I am not usually a fan of paranormal readers, but something just drew me to this one, and I am so pleased that I took a chance. Raul has met his perfect match with Bethany, who does not let him get away with anything. I loved the witty banter between them. This is a well written, fast paced, humorous and dirty story, which had me totally captivated throughout. I will certainly be going back and 1-clicking the rest of this fascinating series!
Can be read alone but there is more people involved with this books that has their own stories and to better know them then you might want to read theirs. This is my first read of this series even through its books 5 and of this author since it has what I love to read, m.c. That have past connection. This one is Bethany that has a past with both Raul but his little sister Melina is her best friend since they were 4. But I guess when Bethy was 18 Raul came back into her life and took her away for a little while out of fear but the way it was stated Raul and Bethy said and saw things but thats the time Raul knew Bethy was his fated mate but he denied the mating for 10 years and was in pain but not in terrible pain, since he could be with others. Werelocks is a special breed of werewolf, they got magic and can do a lot of things then any standard common werewolf has. Raul is a werelock and with him bitting Bethy their first time together, his venom will turn her into a common werewolf. Now I would have love to read that chapter where it’ll be Bethy first time shifting but I wanted to read how Raul acted and what Melina and her mate Alex help guide Bethy’s Transitioning.
OMG…does this book live up to its name. This book was so hot, I spent a good amount of time blushing through it…so damn good. Bethany aka Bethy is Milena’s human bestie and Raul is her Alpha brother that heads up her rival pack. Raul has stayed away from his true mate for 10 years, I couldn’t imagine, but he did have great reasons. His alpha was on the sadistic side and Bethy has no idea about his world. He’s older than her and found out she was his true mate when he comes back so see her when she was 15. A lot happened, he stayed away from her and someone changed her memories to protect her. 1o years later, he sees her in a club and his control snaps. Wow, just wow, I mean seriously dayum…can’t believe my kindle didn’t catch on fire…like my face did…blushing like a school girl. One of the hottest couples I have ever read. I will never look at a nightclub the same way again. Ok, so Bethy was engaged, before everyone starts getting upset, her crappy fiancé cheats on her all the time…so in my world he doesn’t count and it’s like he doesn’t exist. She’s out because she finally found out about all of his cheating…pos for sure. When Raul sees her, he can no longer control himself or his wolf.
This was such a great book, and great storyline. No ow drama, but her ex fiancé was a total pos. They deal with him and he gets exactly what he deserves…you’re welcome…thank Hettie Ivers for that. They were apart for 10 years, they never dated previously and she had no idea about mates, let alone that she had one. He knew, but had great reasons for protecting her and staying away. We get to find out so much about Raul’s past. We also get to see some of our favorite characters from the previous book, Avery, Al aka Chaos, and Sloane. These three are funny af. And we get to see some new characters, some you may really like, some not as much. His pack is really ruthless, so being accepted is all the battle. As always I love, love Hettie Ivers humor, seriously cracks me up. Mannies, I can’t even. These two were hot af, and kind of exhibitionist. I believe there was even a #relationshipgoals tag in the book. We get a shit ton of baby batter, a hot af mating, an epilogue and an hea. As always…I want more, such addicting book crack.
I really enjoyed the interaction between the two main characters. Steamy doesn’t begin to cover it.
Starts out with Raul in a dance club and he sees Bethany his mate dancing with another man and gets jealous so he goes up behind her and starts daning with her! The story get steamy and he ends up claiming here right there in the club while the other werewolfs block so nobody can see. The story has alot going on and I got to see what is happening and how Raul and Bethany handle things. I love how it ends I recommend this book!!!!!
This is my first book by Hettie Ivers and also my first Paranormal book, I really enjoy the story so much, not only I laugh a lot but also it was very steamy and intriguing..
Raul has been fantasizing about Bethany for years, he knows she the one for him, but life and past circumstances are holding him back until things get out of control and he no longer feels like he can hold himself around the love of his life..
Bethany is engaged to be married to a big loser, even if she doesn’t know that her heart belongs to someone else, she has been holding her feelings back until something happens that makes all that feelings come alive..
it was a good story, funny, entertaining and with a lot of twists and turns that you won’t see them coming. the secondary characters are also great giving the story and the main characters more fuel to make this book even more intriguing.
Overall I like it and I’m planning to read more books by Hettie.
Hettie Ivers’ JUST LIKE ANIMALS is a sizzling and electrifying read. Raul Caro’s mate Bethany Garrett was off-limits, but after ten years, he can no longer hold back allowing his wolf to claim her. This contemporary paranormal romance is suitable for adult audiences.
I love the concept of the evolution of werewolves to werelocks. It is a refreshing and an appealing twist. JUST LIKE ANIMALS was skillfully written and interesting from start to finish. The story was humorous, thrilling, and action packed.
I love Raul. He has had a tough life and made a lot of sacrifices. Out of concern for Bethany’s life, he does not claim her as his mate. Now ten years later, he is his pack’s Alpha and can no longer hold back. He and his sister Milena have a lot of issues they need to resolve; secrets and lies that were kept. Bethany is an engaging character. She is Milena’s best friend. She had feelings for Raul but being her BFF’s brother; she held back. The stuff going on with her ex-fiancé added a lot of entertainment to the story.
This was the first book that I read in the Werelock Evolution series. While I had no problem following the story, I could tell that a lot of stuff that happened in this novel was results of events in the earlier books. I have a feeling, I would have enjoyed the story even more if I had read the previous books. I am interested in starting at the beginning and reading those stories. This was also the first book that I have read by Hettie Ivers. I enjoyed her writing style and would read more of her work. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
Just like Animals is 5th installment of Werelock Evolution series by Hettie Ivers and can be read as standalone. Although, I personally recommend to read previous books first just to fully enjoy the world building by the author. But, if you like me and want to grab this bad boy first, do it immediately
Just like Animals was one hell of hotness and awesomeness There are certain types of books that I call “treat or guilty pleasures”, this one without any doubts was my guilty pleasure! The main characters were beyond hilarious, like really really hilarious, I’m not talking about giggling over the chapter, NO! I laughed out loud too many times! The inner dialogues of main characters made me that way And now imagine awesome hilarious characters with enormous level of confidence. My applauses to Hettie for creating such characters and loving them so much. I do believe some authors fall irrevocably in love with their characters and as a result, we witness that level of brilliance on paper.
This book is highly recommended!
Writing style – AMAZING
Plot – AMAZING
Characters – AMAZING
Wow talk about a hot dance floor scene! This is my first book by this author and man is it an unforgettable story. I will definitely be starting the series from the beginning. This is a well written, humorous read with characters that have sizzling chemistry.
This is the first book I’ve read by this author and I’m so glad I had the opportunity to do so. It was a terrific story, well written, kept my attention, and has me wanting to read more of this series. It is a standalone, but I will say there were a couple times past events were mentioned that made me think I was missing something. At the time I didn’t realize this was part of a series. It didn’t interfere with my understanding or enjoyment of the story though. I can’t wait to see how Bethany and Raul’s relationship moves forward, as well as Milena’s relationship with the both of them.
*I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. This is my honest review.*
If you haven’t read the other books within the series (even though this is a standalone story) you might end up missing quite a few details as you take the journey. My suggestion would be at least read No Light first.
I fully admit that I wasn’t a fan of Raul’s in the beginning. I thought he was selfish in so many ways and just wanted power. Boy oh boy was I wrong! If anything Raul turns out to be pretty selfless and his truth is a very harsh one at times. He harbors pain, regret, anger, and sadness. But he also finds a bit of hope when he sees Bethany again. Their connection is still there and still very much a real and freaking hot!!!!
I can also admit that I had thought Bethany was rather flighty in the past. The proverbial best friend who ends up being not as important in the other books. HA! In this one, Bethany and her own struggles come into play. She’s not only struggled with a secret or two about her family, but she’s been hiding her attraction to Raul over the years. She’s successful, strong and just as fierce as any good female lead in a book full of hotties and mystery! Loved her and the fact she felt comfortable in her own sexuality, abilities, and intelligence. She’s the perfect match for Raul!
With their joining forces, to some dismay of a few, they uncover more than I bargained for. It’s just one more step into the intricate layers of the Werelock world that Hettie has masterfully creative. Just as she gives more nuggets of information, she yanks you back and makes you curse her out for changing the spin on you! Kind of like the way Raul plays Bethany on a time or two! Withhold a bit, and then smash the reader in an explosion of bliss at the end, seems to be Hettie’s way of grabbing your attention and begging for more!
PHENOMENAL 5 stars read! Hold on to your girdles gals, it’s going to be a rough, rocky and seriously flaming read that will leave you breathless!
This book grabs you from the first page. Raul is something else needless to say. He watched over Bethany from afar for over ten years and when she was out celebrating their dance got a little out of hand. This book will have you laughing and on the edge of your seat with their antics and drama. I voluntarily agreed to receive an ARC of this book for an honest review.
Hettie Ivers does it Again!!
I’ve only started reading her books since May and I’m Hungry for More….please!!
My favorite thing about Hettie’s writing is that she proves one can create intelligent, articulate, hilarious characters with depth and Still be off the charts SEXY!!
This installments (#5) of her Werelock series can truly be read as a standalone novel. Bethy and Raul’s story is incredibly Hot (you’ve been warned) in chapter one alone be sure you have access to a cold shower or your significant other!!! It’s a whirlwind adventure that is filled with sass, a trip to Argentina, world class smack downs of a cheating fiancé, a scary painty melting werelock physician(Rafe) and a possessive werelock alpha trying to convince his mate that he’s not kidnapping her…he’s rescuing her.
Truly…it took me longer to read this one because Hubby was away on business and it was just too frustrating to keep going without him!
Just Like Animals was my first book by Hettie Ivers and I found myself drawn into the story immediately. Even though this was part of a series I still enjoyed the book without having read the previous books. Raul and Bethany chemistry and banter back and forth kept me interested without feeling like I was missing out on some major back story. As the story progresses they let you in on their past history. I loved how Bethany gave him hell and she wasn’t afraid to tell him what she wanted in life and when it came to sex. She is fierce and will be hell when she comes into her own strength. Now don’t get me wrong I wanted to strangle a whole bunch of those guys a few times and then shake her and ask her what the hell was she thinking! I must say it was hard to put it down until I finished the entire book. I can’t wait to see what happens with Kai and Lauren (seer) Oh and now I must go read the first 4 books in the series because I want to know more about the other people in the book.
After reading every book Hettie Ivers has released I should know by now to expect the unexpected. I should, but once again she delivered more than I ever expected!
I could write a long review about every insane aspect about this book, but I think I’ll leave it short and sweet.
The story of Raul and Bethany was so much more than I ever anticipated. It is a sweet, frustrating, sad, humorous book that will get you in all sorts of your feels! One thing’s for sure, you will definitely need a cold shower once you finish. Simply put, this book is so hot even the Devil got burned!!
If you’ve never read a book by Hettie Ivers or you want to add a major amount of fuel to a dying spark, this is the book for you.
One of my all-time favorite paranormal romance books with brilliant writing that once again portrays Hettie Ivers’ unique brand of sassy humor. Combined with a great plot and super hot scenes, it’s a winner! (Reads as a standalone.)
Another amazing novel. Just Like Animals was a fast-paced, steamy engrossing novel. This was paranormal at its finest, with warelocks, curses and prophesies and so much more. This author created such a fascinating world, I was hooked from beginning to end and could not put this book down.
I love the characters in this novel. This was Bethany and Raul story. These two had such intense chemistry they were steaming up the pages of the novel in no time. Yes the novel was scorching hot. Yet as much as I loved them I also loved the secondary characters who all added so much to the story.
Although part of the Warelock Evolution series this story could be read as a standalone. Filled with drama and uncertainty, this page-turner was also hilarious and at times sweet. Worthy of more than 5 stars I absolutely loved this addition to the series and I would highly recommend it to paranormal lover.
OMG!!! This book is so good! It is a standalone book in this series but I recommend reading the other books and in order for total understanding and complete reading enjoyment. To begin this book is so incredibly hot! Right from chapter one things between Raul and Bethany combust in the middle of a club dance floor and they never cool down. Then you get humor and a wide variety of it. From small chuckles, to snorts, to big belly laughs, to laugh until you cry moments, this book offers them all. Add in plenty of drama and emotional turmoil and this fated mates story has everything you could want wrapped into one truly delicious and delightful read. Bethany is a strong, smart, quirky and funny. She provides the much needed light to help balance out all the darkness in Raul. Raul is a character that you will hate or hate to love. He is a schemer, he is ruthless and he is rude and yet, there has always been a tiny part of me that felt just a little bit bad for him and hoped there was more to him than what he showed the world. This book and his Bethy provided him with just such an opportunity. I loved this book and this whole series. It is a excellent blend of werewolf shifters, magic, rom-com and drama. Do yourself a favor and read these books!
