I hope there’s a follow-up––the mystery part of the story was left to solve “in the spring”––but the romance portion was well done. The two main characters had grown up together… and had to figure out their changing relationship.
Abigale and Seth are long time friends and when she returns after her Grandfather’s funeral they once again turn to each other and a sweet romance begins. Both strong willed they make this a delightful story of family, friendship, faith and a sweet ending!
Oh, how I truly enjoyed this novella! Davalynn Spencer is one of my favorite authors to go to when I need a good story to take me away from the craziness of this world. Just In Time For Christmas is a timeless story for the ages, one I could read every year at Christmastime. It has everything I could want in a book. It’s easy to read, it’s funny, it’s romantic, there’s a cowboy, and the Lord is in the middle of it all, just as He should be. It may sound cliche`, but it’s true, this story warms my heart.
I received a copy of this book from the author. I was not required to leave a review.
Very well written oil. She leaves Dallas nd goes to her grandparents in the high country. She finds her teen crush all grown up and deffinately attractive. I recommend this book for everyone
A high country historical
Davalynn Spencer has a gift for writing heartwarming stories, filled with beautiful prose and lovely descriptions. She does not merely pen stories, she carefully crafts her words to create rich satisfying narratives that make me smile.
Just in Time for Christmas is no exception. As a case in point, as I was reading about the frozen waterfall, I had a momentary thought that I should grab my camera so I could take a picture!
Reading back over the passages I highlighted, I’m again overwhelmed at the wonderful way this author has with words. She has such a gift for turning a phrase into a thing of wonder. Reading this story was a magical experience simply for this reason.
It would be difficult to not fall in love with Abigale and Seth. These now-grown childhood friends have always been there for each other. To help, to explore with, and to boss each other around. It was so easy to fall back into those patterns now that they were grown (yeah, though seventeen isn’t exactly grown by today’s standards. . .)
Orphaned for a second time, Abigale is now mourning the grandparents who adopted and raised her when her parents died. When she got herself into a mess of trouble at their ranch, God sent Seth to rescue her. I loved the honorable way Seth cared for her and how he learned to stop bossing her around; instead caring for her feelings and wooing her. Seth’s work ethic was quite amazing as he took over the chores at her ranch without thinking twice about it or moaning about the work.
When they discovered more trouble than they expected, Abigale was challenged to learn even more about what it means to “trust in the Lord and do good”. Although this trouble wasn’t resolved by the story’s end, there was a satisfying conclusion with a hint of more to come.
If you enjoy historical fiction and picturesque descriptions that combine to make a tasty treat with just the right blend of romance and friendship, Just in Time for Christmas is a great choice!

I was given a copy of this book. I was not required to give a favorable review nor was any money received for this review. All comments and opinions are my own.
This is a sweet and heart warming story. This is Seth and Abigale’s story, who had been friends since they were children. Seth discovers Abigale after she suffers an accident and falls while trying to repair the barn on her grandfather’s farm. As time passes, the friendship grows into love. This is a great story for the holidays…I really enjoyed the book and highly recommend it…don’t miss this one.
A sweet and witty Chritmas story of friendship turning to love. The author’s way with words is sure to make her books a favorite of many.
Just in time for Christmas is a sweet western inspirational novella that will warm your heart during these days. There is plenty of faith, love and purpose packed between the pages. I enjoyed getting to know childhood friends turned sweethearts, Seth and Abigale and spending time with them in this uplifting story. The author has a descriptive style of writing that I enjoy. Here are some examples: “Abigale had run him into the same corral as every other man, and he resented it in spite of telling her he understood” “Seth thought he was losing his mind, for he’d sure enough gone and tossed his heart.”
I received a copy of this book from the author. The opinions in this review are my own.
A non-Western loving, Bronco lover, you know you’ve read a good story when you turn off the game in the fourth quarter because said reader can’t wait to read the rest of the story. I wanted to scold Abigale more than once, but finally she set aside her stubbornness to take another look at Seth, her childhood friend. Just in Time is a page-turning, intriguing story you won’t soon forget.
I loved reading Seth and Abigale’s story. This book is very well written and the author brings the story to life with her words. I could picture Emmy, Seth’s little sister, in my mind when she was handing out the Christmas gifts. This is a very heartwarming Christmas story that will keep you turning the pages to see what happens next. I received an ARC copy of this book and was not required to write a review. All opinions expressed are my own.
I love this narrator! I have never heard a woman give such a low husky sexy man’s voice before! I kept forgetting she was a woman until the narrator parts! Superbly done!
I loved the story as well! The message, don’t hold back love! Don’t be afraid to live life to the fullest! God is in charge! You can trust in Him!
The scenes near the end are set around Christmas, but this delightful book can be enjoyed any time of the year
A young woman comes back to the ranch she grew up in, for her grandfather’s funeral. She decides she has to stay to keep this dream of generations going but since she has been away, she didn’t know that the stock has been sold and only a few horses and one cow that is dry and an old faithful dog are all the life this ranch has left. The ranch is in the high country of Colorado and is butted up against the back side of Pikes Peak. The side faces west. The property has an abundance of pine trees and someone has been cutting them on this property of this ranch.
When she is trying to fix the stairs on the barn leading to the hay loft, she falls and hits her head on something during a blizzard. Luckily for our heroine she is found shortly after her fall by an old friend, the son of a near by ranch. He was coming by to check on what live stock might still be left behind. Her dog continues barking to get our hero’s attention and leads him to her. All the see’s is a lump of something covered by snow and when he gets some of the snow off the lump, he realizes it is the girl or woman now that he has always loved. She is unconscious and he takes her into the grandparents or now her ranch home to see where she hurt and wants to get her fixed up and warm.
These two were best of friends growing up and played together as young kids and rode their horses everywhere and both are stubborn as all get out.
They sort of get along during this blizzard and she is surprised he is taking care of her. When she finds out about someone cutting down her trees she goes after them to see if she can find out if it is who they suspect but the told her not to go alone.
This is a love story, story of old friends regaining each other’s trust and trying to plan things together instead of being headstrong and going out on their or her own.
It has sorrow, adventure, and of course trying to fire up a romance in the 1800’s and love.
This is my first story by this author and it won’t be my last. I love her writing already, and her wit, bickering between awesome characters and when I started reading it, I was captivated and couldn’t put it down. I highly recommend this book.
My review is on the Historical Christian Romance, Just in Time For Christmas. This is A High-Country Christmas Novella. This is a delightful story, I enjoyed every minute of it. The story is humorous, well written, and heartwarming I know you are going to love it.
Abigale Millerton returned home after the death of her grandfather. She had been sent to Denver to school. She has no intention of returning to Denver. The live stock has been sold except for a couple broken down horses no one wanted, a dry cow, and her old dog. Abigale is determined to fix the roof of the barn. She has enough hay to feed the animals if she can keep the snow out of the hay loft. She doesn’t have a ladder so she pounds pieces of wood up the side of the barn. A storm comes up and she is high up the barn when lightening strikes close by; she falls off and is knocked unconscious as snow begins to fall.
Seth Holt is riding close to the Millerton place when a storm hits, a thundersnow. He rides to the old barn for shelter. He’s thinking about Abigale, she had been at the funeral but he hadn’t talked to her. He had to protect his heart. Chester, Abigale’s dog shows up and wont leave him alone until he follows him. There he finds a lump in the snow, Abigale. He carries her into the house and takes care of her.
As they are snowed in together their childhood friendship takes on new meaning. Each are trying to keep their feelings to themselves for fear of the other one not returning their love. God has a plan for these two stubborn people. A plan for a hope and a future. God has a plan for you too. A good plan and not for evil. Give Him your heart and watch Him move in your life
