Someone should have warned me about falling in love with my best friend. Carolina Little did I know when Rex came to my locker attempting to bribe me, that he’d turn into my everything. We’d become best friends.I’d steal his heart. He’d steal mine.Nothing has changed in the years of our friendship. Not our connection, not our feelings, or that we still hold each other’s hearts. But his heart isn’t … hold each other’s hearts.
But his heart isn’t the only thing I’ve kept.
The secret I’m hiding could shatter the only man I’ve ever loved.
Rex
I’ve loved Carolina since the day she called my bluff.
Our friendship always came first.
She believed in me when no one else did.
I tucked away my feelings because I couldn’t survive a life without her.
We crossed the line once, and I swore it’d never happen again.
As time passes, the harder it becomes to live up to that promise.
Until finally, there’s no holding back.

Hottest book I’ve read in years. The chemistry between these two is off the charts and I loved their dynamic from the very start.
Love a good friends to lovers story, and Rex and Carolina were fantastic in Just Friends by Charity Ferrell.
The two of them have been in love with each other for a while but neither of them is willing to take the chance and take the next step.
This book was full of friendship, heat, and secrets thrown in to make for a great book. I love visiting Blue Beech! Charity Ferrell writes books that are realistic, detailed, and full of life and love that pull you in from the beginning.
I LOVE a good friends to lovers romance and Rex and Carolina’s story does not disappoint! There’s nothing better than having a guy best friend. I married mine so I might be a little bias.
“I love Carolina Adams, and there’s nothing I can do about it because I wouldn’t survive losing her.”
Being in love with your best friend is as easy as it isn’t. Loving them is easy because you already know them better than they know themselves. Fighting the attraction is the hardest part. The fear of taking your relationship to the next level is real. Charity Ferrell portrays this perfectly.
Just Friends is an angsty, slow burn romance that I’m sure you will love as much as I do! It’s always a pleasure being back in Blue Beech!!
Rex just might be the perfect book boyfriend. Great story! Great book!
The story I never saw coming but absolutely loved! I love that we get past, present and future for Carolina and Rex. Starting at the beginning, we see where their friendship blossomed in high school, and how over the years they ended up being best friends where it was unlikely yet harboring secret feelings for each other. Once college rolls around and Carolina finds herself in a bad situation, she runs to Rex and he does anything and everything to support her. Ending up in a fake relationship for show, it eventually turns into more where they are able to let their true feelings for each other show, only to have Carolina’s secret make it’s presence known and possibly ruin the relationship between her and Rex. Thankfully though, this couple gets their HEA and we get a little glimpse in the epilogue as to what happens after the dust settles. I truly loved this book and these characters in addition to the writing and the flow of the storyline. I can’t wait to see who ends up being next in this series – they’ve all been great stories but this one definitely takes the cake!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Just Friends takes us back to Blue Beech.
This time it’s Rex and Carolina’s story.
This friends to lovers romance is somewhat of a slow burn but Charity Ferrell keeps us entertained with their push and pull chemistry and a secret…
The attraction between these two was never the problem. It’s risking their friendship that keeps them from crossing that line.
Carolina finds herself in trouble but doesn’t completely divulge what happened. She’s keeping that information locked up tight. Until her past comes back to haunt her.
I love Charity Ferrell’s work. She lures you in, makes you feel comfortable and then, when you least expect it, throws major curveballs.
Sometimes she will do it with suspense and sometimes with heartache but it’s what makes her stories unique and craving for more.
This series just keeps getting better and better!! I’m such a sucker for a friends to lovers romance, and Rex and Lina were just made for each other!
We get glimpses of how they met in high school, the progression of their friendship, how they inevitably both fall for one another — yet refuses to tell each other in fear for ruining their friendship, to present day where the attraction and connection is just too intense to ignore.
I loved how these two were truly each other’s halves; they completed each other in every single way, and I absolutely adored their banter. They were each other’s rock, and I so appreciated that no matter what happened between them physically, that connection never wavered.. if anything it just grew. They are such a wonderful and beautiful couple, and I know you will fall in love with them just like I did!!
There is a separate plot going on in the story that I’m so glad these authors gave light to, because I’m sure if happens more often than not. Lina’s strength just made me love her that much more.
If you’ve read the previous books in the series, or even if you stumbled upon this wonderful author, one click this as soon as you can! You don’t be disappointed!
**I received an ARC of this book and these are my honest opinions!!**
“I’m a dude who doesn’t want to get in her panties. She’s a chick who doesn’t want to bang me. There are no expectations between us.”
If you like best friends to lovers, fake relationship turned real, and secret twists, then you will enjoy Just Friends. I’m personally a sucker for the best friends to lovers trope so I knew I’d love Rex & Carolina. They spend a lot of time avoiding how they feel, because they are scared to “ruin the friendship” but you can just tell they would be PERFECTION together! Then tension is intense, the banter is fun, the story flow is good, the characters are likable, and this was just a good read.
Rex has always been one of my favorite characters in the Blue Beech series, with his smart-ass attitude and playboy demeanor. I loved the taunting he received from his siblings about his relationship with Carolina and how he always denied they were more than friends. This book showcased what a strong, unbreakable bond Rex and Lina had. The slow burn between these two was incredible! You could just feel the chemistry between them, no matter how much they denied it or tried to avoid it.
I felt so bad for Carolina and her tragic past that she was hiding from her best friend. I was so worried that it’d cause an irreparable ripple between the two of them when everything finally was revealed.
Time and time again, Rex put Lina first. It proved what a genuinely good guy he was (despite his player ways). He always wanted to ensure that she was cared for and even though he loved her deeply, he knew he could never act on those feelings due to fear of hurting her in the process. I swooned so many times over his treatment of her and her needs.
I really liked the relationship these two characters had, even when they weren’t acting on their lust and romantic feelings. They were truly destined for one another. Such a sweet and fulfilling HEA.
I adored this friends to lovers romance! I devoured this Blue Beech series in January and was so excited to read about Rex and Carolina. This book had all the feels, the humor I am loving from this author, and it is a fun read. A seriousness that I found myself anxious to read more about and a perfect ending!
I have loved this series and Just Neighbors had been my favorite until now…oh my word!! Charity!!!! Just Friends was pure perfection! In true Charity style, it was filled with swoon, angst and a side of humor! Just Friends can be read as a stand-alone, but I recommend reading them all! It did have several characters of books past but you don’t need to read their stories first. (But you should at some point!!)
Rex was in love with Carolina, Carolina was in love with Rex but neither wanted to admit it… you know the drill! They couldn’t cross the line for the sake of their friendship- blah, blah, blah…insert eye roll!
Luckily, faking a relationship may have been the push they needed! But when secrets come out, can they hold before they get torn apart?
I absolutely loved these two together!! Even if I wanted to yell at them to just get together already, it was nice to watch them find their own way. You can’t force something if you want it to last! Now if only every man was like Rex!
Charity never fails to suck you in and not let you out until the end of the book. I was completely hooked. I was taken out of reality and into another world. The writing the story and the characters went above and beyond my expectations. Charity will always keep you on your toes and leaving you wanting more. Absolutely amazing
I voluntarily read this as an advanced readers copy
Rex and Carolina have been best friends ever since he charmed her, (very reluctantly on her part) into it. Now years later, they’re still friends and they’re both nursing what they think are unrequited feelings for each other. Alas, they’re not meant to be at the time. Life and others happen. But when Carolina needs him most, Rex is always there for her. Will their feelings flare this time?
I love me a good friends to lovers romance, and this one isn’t just good, it’s great. They’re such a great couple, with that chemistry that only long-time friends have, then seamlessly morph into more. Though this one is fun, there is a trigger here so beware if you have triggers. But if you don’t have triggers, I highly recommend you give this excellent friends to more love story a read.
I always like reading friends to lovers, and this book was no exception. Carolina and Rex are “just friends”, who both secretly want more but are afraid of losing their friendship. Rex has commitment issues as well, because of his parents’ relationship. Can one request from Carolina change their relationship? Will Carolina’s secret tear them apart? Charity Ferrell is new to me, but I will be checking out more of her books.
Friends to lovers romances are some of my favorites to read and Charity Ferrell did a wonderful job with Just Friends.
Just Friends has everything I love from trope and then some. From the amazing banter between Rex and Carolina, electric chemistry, and sizzling passion this couple had it all. There was also just enough tension and feels to keep me flying through the pages. Sweet and sexy with sprinkles of feels and plenty of fun. Definitely recommend.
Friends to lovers is one of my favourite genres and this was an enjoyable one. Rex and Carolina have been friends for a long time but neither wants to do anything to ruin their special bond. As the reader we can read between the lines and feel the simmering attraction. Rex is the complete opposite of Carolina and the perfect person to bring her out of her shell. I loved all the high and lows of their relationship, from friends to their fledgling attraction. I adored Rex when he stood by her side through a difficult time which brings them closer than ever. A sweet well written romance which also deals with a serious subject.
The Best Friends to Lovers Romance!! I Loved Just Friends, I’ve been craving Rex & Carolina’s story since book 5 and it was Epic! let me start with Just Friends is a standalone romance, but it is also part of a series of standalones, Blue Beech, and you don’t want to miss all the happenings of Blue Beech! This Series is one of my favorites, the characters are so special and you get pieces of them throughout all the books. Just Friends was funny and sweet, Rex and Carolina’s relationship it the ultimate lasting love. You feel it, they share something so amazing you just can’t help but fall in love with them. They fight it so hard for so long! I was right there along with all of Blue Beech, waiting for these two to realize how much they truly Love each other. Their little lie was absolutely hilarious! I laughed so much with this book, it’s definitely the most lighthearted of the series. It’s a wonderful story, lots of humor and feel-good vibes, it was emotional and oh so sexy! These two have so much intoxicating chemistry! In true Ferrell fashion, she rips the ground from under you and delivers a blow the reader wasn’t expecting! I have to say all I think about is Sierra was right! Muahah! I love this author, I loved this book! The ending left me all warm and cozy, my heart is so full for all these amazing characters, I loved the ride and I’m looking forward to what Ferrell has next! I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Since sparking an unlikely friendship in high school Rex and Carolina soon become each others everything. Over the years being best friends came naturally to these two and even though their feelings seemed to grow for each other and everyone around them could see how well they fit they still maintained that friendship as neither one wanted to risk losing the other by giving into their feelings and strong attraction. Eventually their chemistry and pull towards each other can no longer be ignored so slowly their friendship lines blur but one of them is holding on to a secret that could ruin everything
I thoroughly enjoyed this story. It was sweet, funny, intriguing, super easy to read and kept me guessing at times. The chemistry and love between Rex and Carolina felt so genuine. I loved watching Carolina grow into her own and fight for what she wants. She was kind, strong and compassionate. Rex was such an amazing character he was loyal and protective over Carolina without being over bearing and always managed to put her first. He was such a sweetheart and watching him break down some his own walls and let go of his insecurities while giving into what he wants was beautiful to watch
If you love a good friends to lovers new adult romance then this book is definitely for you
Just Friends by Charity Ferrell was a full on entertainment package. It has the extreme swoon factor. Also very high steam factor. It was hundred percent delightful journey full ot fun, steam, humor and heartfelt emotions!
It was an amazing friends to lovers romance. Carolina and Rex has been best friends forever. Rex is the ultimate bad boy with charms galore. He is actually very smart and has amazing sense of humour that increases his attractiveness hundred fold. Carolina is a sweet, sassy and adorable girl with a big heart. Their friendship is something special and that is so much more important to them. And so they are ignoring the deep feelings inside. Untill Rex has to pose as her date in a vicious family wedding. And all hell breaks lose. But Carolina has a secret. Something that can destroy everything.
The beauty of the story is the chemistry. I could feel all push and pull. The slow burn was so delicious. Their friendship is something so epic. They stood by each other through every storm. And they understand and accept their faults and quirky ways of living. It was a natural progression to love but they resisted as long as possible as they did not want to lose each other. The chemistry was nuclear hot! The story had a bit of everything. A bit of heartbreak and angst. A bit witty banter. A bit of family and friendly love.
Just Friends by Charity Ferrell was an absolutely enjoyable sweet and sexy romance. I had a great time and I know you will too!
Received ARC for honest review
I have been invested in the Blue Beech world since book one. So when the opportunity to read an early copy of this story presented itself I was excited. I love a good friends to lovers and this story did not disappoint. Rex and Carolina’s story was filled with fun back and forth between the both of them and it was packed with some emotional moments that I did not expect.
This story can be read as a stand-alone but I highly recommend reading the previous books so you can fall in love with this world. Definitely a must read!
