Hetta Coffey is a sassy woman with a snazzy yacht and she’s not afraid to use it! While docked at Marina de la Paz, in Mexico’s hauntingly beautiful Sea of Cortez, Hetta gets a surprise visitor that sets off a chain of events like only Hetta can manage to get herself embroiled in. With her best friend, Jan, and her dog, Po Thang, they are hot on the trail of some dastardly smugglers.
It’s always a cause for rejoicing when Hetta comes to town, bringing her dog Po Boy and her bird Trouble with her. Actually, the fun starts when you get to her town. Which, since she lives on a boat, is usually somewhere in Mexico, but it can vary. She’s a character and a half, aided and abetted by her marvelous friends, she sets out to save exotic birds from being illegally sold in the United States. In this outing, Trouble, her crazy aunt’s former bird, not that he’s still not a bird, but her aunt no longer owns him, shines as he escapes from the traffickers clutches and helps rescue his own species. If it sounds unbelievable, believe me, a hilarious, entertaining case is made that it all could be true. Hetta is a bit of a klutz, but she’s smart, resourceful, and is either very brave, or somehow blunders into doing the right thing.
I love each and every one of the books in the series. The books aren’t written as a plug-in formula, each one is different and stands on its own, yet taken together, they’re an amazing delight. My only problem is that I spent so much time looking forward to reading the book, and now that I have, I’m left waiting for the next one. It will be worth my time to reread the others starting at the beginning! It’s almost a shame that they’re so memorable, it won’t be a new experience. But it will be a great one!
I loved the whole series an could not wait to get to the next one
As usual, the author keeps the reader in a state of wonder – wonder just what Hetta is going be up to next, wonder how she gets into and out the predicaments and wonder how the author can have so much fun writing this totally enjoyable series.
Another five star Hetta Coffey adventure. Each book in the series can be read as a stand-alone, but I really recommend reading them all! Fabulous job, Jinx! Keep ’em coming!
Jinx Schwarz tells her stories with gusto. Her characters are daring, creative and refreshing.
I’m always happy to read books in the Hetta Coffey series.
Light, fun, easy to read and interesting characters.
Can’t go wrong.
This time it isn’t Hetta who finds trouble. Trouble finds her! Hetta’s former pet parrot Trouble escapes the bird sanctuary and finds his way back to Hetta. Po Thing is a poor thing being on the wrong end of Trouble’s temper tantrum and claws before Hetta finds him in her boat cabin. After a little investigation, Hetta knows something isn’t right at the sanctuary and calls in her trusted friends to solve the mystery while trying to keep her boyfriend Jenks in the dark about her latest adventure. Hetta’s bestie Jan along with Craig, Roger, and Topaz work together to solve the mystery. I recommend the entire series and look forward to the next book to find out what high jinks Hetta gets herself (and her friends) into next time
read any and all of her Hetta books JUST FOR FUN!
