Loved this book! Rich Amooi writes some of the best romcoms out there!
Another funny, romantic Rich Amooi favorite!
I loved the banter, between everyone. They are living the verbal life of which dreams are made! Snappy, witty, quick! There are more really clever pet names and I had several laugh out loud moments. LOVED the spunky oldsters!
This is the third book I’ve read by Rich Amooi and IMO they can’t be beat for no-brainer escapism. I love that his characters are in their 40s. It’s fresh and real and long overdue to see a mature couple in a romance story. For that matter the couple in their 80s is just as cute.
Lori is the radio personality who sees life and relationships through rose colored glasses. Rather than dole out advice to her distressed callers, more often than not she provides a shoulder to cry on and a dedicated song to tap into their emotions. Her show is sappy and sweet and totally girlie.
Ben is a no-nonsense talk show relationship adviser who heavily relies on ‘dump him/dump her’ as his advice. His show appeals mostly to men who want backup for the choices they’ve already decided on, appropriate or not.
When Ben’s show is no longer thriving these two characters are teamed up to be the yin/yang of radio cohosts and as expected sparks begin to fly in all directions. Lori rises to the challenge of Ben’s in-your-face approach and meets him comment for comment, dig for dig, and snark for snark. Their pairing is an immediate hit with their audience, and as they get to know each other, a hit with Lori and Ben themselves.
For me the best parts of this story are when the H and h are on air together. The ‘battle of the sexes’ banter is Mr. Amooi’s best to date. But his signature wit is apparent throughout the book, i.e. Grandma Joyce and Grandpa Wayne are a hoot; the lunch, ballroom dancing and poker scenes are pretty cute; and the pet names are clever. Then there are the lines that made me LOL:
“Life is like a ripe peach and I want to suck every last drop of juice out of it…”
“I feel so much closer to you after that intimate knuckle exchange.”
“He needed to take that PhD and shove it.”
“How hard can [meditation] be? You just close your eyes and sit there like a lump on a log.”
Mr. Amooi’s actual experience as a radio personality is a real boon to this story, adding realism that makes it that much better, not to mention his musical knowledge, pulling classic songs and lyrics practically out of thin air (“If I go there will be trouble, And if I stay it will be double”).
This is a quick moving, light, easy read that’s good for plenty of laughs. Read this if what you need is temporary relief from, well… real life in 2020.
I picked up my first Rich Amooi book and honestly, I’m not sure why it took me so long. I’ve heard nothing but praise for this author and it was all true.
JASLS was cute, funny, a little silly at times, but made me smile from start to finish. The banter between these two was fantastic. I loved the progression of their dislike for each other to learning there was more beneath the surface, to their friendship and falling in love. The grand gesture was adorable and so perfect for the heroine, and for the hero – Dr. Tough Love – to prove himself.
The angst was low (which was nice, as there’s too much of that in the world right now and I really needed an escape), and the “dark moment” was believable. (Spoiler…I know it was something a simple conversation could fix..but that happens in real life more than we think.) Overall, I give this book two thumbs up and definitely 5 stars for the hours of pure enjoyment it brought.
Good clean fun!
You just cannot go wrong with his books! His stories are just fun to read!
Another delightful rom-com from Rich Amooi, Just Another Silly Love Song is based on one of the most fun of tropes – Enemies to Lovers. While Lori and Ben both have similar roles in the world of radio – on-air presenters who dish out relationship advice – they have very different philosophies and approaches. Losing her job when her boyfriend dumps her on air and insults a major advertiser in the process, Lori doesn’t have too many options when she’s offered a job as Ben’s co-host on his Tough Love show. And falling ratings mean Ben hasn’t a lot of choice either when his bosses tell him his show needs a woman’s touch to appeal to the female demographic.
Sparks fly between Lori and Ben from the first moment and it’s utterly fantastic, hilarious, and absolutely believable. Chapters are told in alternating first-person PoV, something I’m not always keen on, but Rich Amooi absolutely pulls it off. We get to see the inner thoughts of both Lori and Ben as they go from hating each other through reluctant admiration, acknowledgement of attraction, and finally helplessly falling for each other, aided and abetted by Grandma Joyce, Grandpa Wayne and a hilarious side cast of characters who’ve all seen from the first moment that Ben and Lori have amazing chemistry and would love to see them get together.
This is effervescent fun, and I didn’t want it to end. Rich Amooi is one of my favourite rom-com authors and he’s pulled it off again here; you’ll be charmed by Ben and Lori and their meddling grandparents! Five stars for a fantastic read.

This book was just so much fun to read. Lori Martin, night time radio host. Her feel good, positive message along with a great playlist, is geared towards women. Ben Baxter is morning talk show host. His main audience are men with women problems. Two different radio stations, two different personalities. Now they are going to be working together. The antagonism between them is so palpable that it sets off another set of sparks. Add in their grand parents, who are a hoot and matchmakers, what could possibly go wrong.
Great little read. Two DJs (Ben and Lori) banter during their show. Ben is a no-nonsense, tell it like it is and Lori is a romantic and dedicates love songs to her listeners. She loses her jobs and applies for a morning DJ show at other radio station thinking she is replacing the current DJ (Ben) but is informed she will be his co-host. Ben’s ratings need improving since his audience is male dominant. Kyle, his boss, tells him they need some female callers and thus brings in a co-host. Things get crazy when they try to outdo each other with stabs, putdowns, etc. and give their own advice to the caller. I couldn’t stop laughing at the exchange of words between the two. Add in her Grandmother who thinks Ben is hot and wants her granddaughter to become his girlfriend. If you want a fun read, suggest reading this book.
Once again I adored a book by Rich Amooi. At my age, in my 40s, it is really hard to find books about women who have never been married or men who have never been married. So a book like this is just perfect for me, especially when it doesn’t necessarily make a big deal out of the age thing. Because for me, this is my life, and I like to read about people who I feel are similar to me, and with romance books, I want someone with a similar romantic life to me sometimes. Quite often that means I’m reading books about couples in their twenties. Not that I don’t adore those books, but it is nice to see life and romance from what my world is like.
Besides my personal connections, the characters were perfect. Even though both of the main characters refused to see it at first, they had perfect chemistry, like everyone around them said. I loved the back and forth banter between them, the sarcasm, the arguing, all of it. Another thing about the characters was that I loved how we had a grandma for Lori that totally reminded me of the grandmas in books by another favorite author of mine, Emma Hart. Although since Amooi’s romances are more on the sweet side, this grandma was quite as raunchy, yet still as active and spicy!
Seeing the world of radio was neat as well. I am not a current listener to the radio since I tend to either listen to my music on my phone or audiobooks when I’m driving, and at home the tv is on if I’m not reading. (And usually it’s on in the background even when I am reading). But I remember when I did listen to the radio on the way to work every morning, and I loved the morning shows with the fun DJ hosts that would go back and forth. And I definitely liked when there was both male and female voices on the show.
If you like sweet, funny reads, this is the book for you!
Lori and Ben are two radio DJs, they both have a famous and popular show. The first presents the Night Show giving romantic tips and love songs dedications, the latter hosts the Morning Show giving straight to the point, sometimes even harsh, relationship advices.
Lori accepts a new job soon after she got dumped on air by her boyfriend and fired in the same aweful night, but she is not too excited when she finds out she will co-host the morning show with her nemesis, Ben.
They are complete opposites but the clash of their personalities and their constant bantering make their show ratings fly and their attraction for each other sparks.
Will they keep their good rates even if they begin to like each other? Or will their physical chemestry and friendship ruin their careers?
This is only the second story I read by Rich Amooi but his writing style and well depicted characters won me over already.
I highly recommend to read Just Another Silly Love Song because it’s an entertaining and lovely story that will put you in a good mood after only few pages, making you smile and swoon at the characters actions.
IF IT’S BY AMOOI, BUY IT AND READ IT!! All of his books are funny, quick reads.

A fun and entertaining romantic comedy. Lori and Ben are two rival radio personalities and complete opposites but when they are teamed up and have to work together, things get interesting and entertaining to say the least. Great characters and a fun and enjoyable story line.

A witty, very entertaining romantic hoot. 4.5 stars. Rich Amooi, didn’t disappoint, as I knew he wouldn’t. His books are written with great insight into the male/female psyche. The result is a hugely entertaining account of an enemies-to-lovers tale between Lori and Ben, working as rival colleagues at a radio station. Their opposing views and advice to their listeners’ romantic entanglements lend a uniquely hilarious atmosphere to the book. Their strong dislike for each other gradually, in spite of their conscious surprise and will, strips them of their defenses and the readers are rewarded with an HEA. The characters of Lori and Ben are well-developed and described. The book is well-edited, witty, with good vocabulary and a writing style that is light-hearted and entertaining. I am sure others will like this book as much as I did.

Another fantastic book! Funny – literally laughing out loud! Sweet yet steamy romance.
We have an adorable story of two rival radio personalities (just look at the cover and it makes you smile)! Lori Martin looks for the good things in love with her upbeat attitude. Ben Baxter, on the other hand, is a realist who dispenses the hard facts in his relationship advice. The two of them are totally different from each other and downright explosive!
When Lori is fired for a non-professional incident on the air, she is offered a job at the radio station across town, coincidentally where Ben works. Is she replacing him? But no such luck. The station loves the snark and fireworks between the two of them and think this is a great way to boost ratings – if they don’t kill each other first! They also think his ratings have been down because only the guys have been listening, and they are not the shoppers the advertisers want to lure in. A woman who will stand up to Ben should most definitely bring in the women listeners too! But this was Ben’s program! His male callers love talking to him for advice? Is adding a woman really going to work? What if they really can’t stand each other?
Humor is my #1 go-to when I read a book. And this author handles that so well! The characters are perfect, the pacing is just-right, and the story line just draws the reader right in! This book will put you in a great mood for the rest of the evening or longer! Each time I think about it, I feel a smile appearing or I even hum some of the songs! Grab your copy and have some real fun while you fly through the pages!
In case you’re too young to know: after the Beatles, Sir Paul Macartney was in another group called Wings. They had a hit record called Silly Love Songs. Here is the first stanza:
You’d think that people would have had enough of silly love songs
I look around me and I see it isn’t so
Some people want to fill the world with silly love songs
And what’s wrong with that?
I’d like to know
‘Cause here I go again
I love you, I love you
I love you, I love you
Yes, this song was running through my mind the whole time I was reading the story of Lori and Ben’s romance… along with all of the other wonderful songs that were mentioned (or just in my head as terrific romance songs).
This is a fabulous sparks to fireworks – opposites attract – sweet romance. Not only is this a wonderful romance, but it is fun and humorous with some great one-liners, quirky names, entertaining dialogue, and unexpected happenings – planned & unplanned. I absolutely loved this.
There are actually two wonderful couples as her Grandma Joyce and his Grandpa Wayne remind us that love is not just for the young. They are also terrific co-conspirators, coercers, and wise dispensers of advice.

Just Another Silly Love Song tells the story of Lori, a DJ who likes to play love songs, and Ben, who likes to give no-nonsense relationship advice. They couldn’t be more different, but for a radio station, they are teamed up and have to work together. I really liked to read this story! I loved the characters and I had to laugh a lot. I always felt good while reading this. This story is perfect for people who like to read romance with some comedy. I’m looking forward to reading other books of Rich Amooi.
