Holly has a plan for everything. But she never could have planned for this.
Holly Murphy’s perfectly planned life is not going so well. Her fiancé recently dumped her, the team she supervises at work secretly hates her, and now the promotion she’s worked so … the promotion she’s worked so hard for is in jeopardy.
Thinking that maybe Holly is too tightly wound and needs a break from everything, Holly’s boss demands she take a vacation. Holly’s best friend Quinn comes up with a wild idea for Holly to do a nationwide search for a man with the same name as her ex-fiancé to go with her on her honeymoon trip. That idea is a no-go for play-it-safe Holly, until her boss finds out and loves the idea.
Resigned, Holly gives in and starts the nationwide search, and when handsome Nate Jones from Newport Beach gets picked to go with her, she wonders if this whole thing won’t be so bad after all.
Will Holly learn that sometimes even the best laid plans need to be thrown out the window once in a while? Or will it send her running and screaming back to her safety net?

Becky Monson hits it out of the park once more! Such a fun page-turner with that warm and fuzzy chick lit feel-good factor I adore.
This book is so sweet and witty. I absolutely love the main character, Holly’s group of friends, especially Thomas. I’ve never loved a male character in a book who wasn’t a romantic interest more. Her work team is also hilarious. I enjoy a book that has a varied cast of characters and enough suspense to keep me guessing. I was rooting for Holly the whole time as she steps beyond her comfort zone and sees what’s been in front of her face the whole time.
This book is fantastic! Two thumbs up.
This book is Becky Monson at her BEST!! I know you’ll it as much as I did!!!
4.5s
This book didn’t play out how I thought it was going to after reading the blurb but it went the way I hoped after a few chapters so I was very happy. I’ve come away with a book hangover and I’m not sure if I’m feeling lost because I didn’t get enough and wanting more or it was written so well that you just can’t walk away from this couple. As there is a second book in the series, there’s a chance I will have this wish filled.
This is a bit of a slow burn romance and there’s a lot of inner dialogue from Holly, which I love. It could be that she’s just like me and thinks things through to the very enth degree and plans things out to the last minute. I loved her dry humor and the way she interacted with her friends. They were a quirky bunch but each bought a different element to the group and their loyalty was commendable.
I adored the way the story unraveled and how Holly finally sees what’s been in front of her the whole time. And that she makes changes to her career as well. I especially appreciated the epilogue and the different aspect we got there. I really could have read more of that! Now I’m on to Just A Girl and hear all about Holly’s bestie Quinn.
Super cute, fun read. Really likable characters and well-written. Definitely recommend!
Cute – not deep but entertaining
It shows how to gracefully face the parts of yourself that are weak and be better for it. This book is funny and has a great support group of friends. They all have their issues but pull together to support each other. Very enjoyable read.
This book is an unconventional romance. I kept wondering who was supposed to be the romantic hero. Is it Nate Jones who is accompanying Holly on the trip? The original Nathan Jones who jilted her? Or hunky, silent-type Logan. After awhile I was team Logan all the way! I recommend this one, just be patient while the love story unfolds.
Ms. Monson always does a wonderful job with her characters. I want to hang out with them!
Love cute little books like this
Found this book to be very entertaining, laugh out loud funny. Looking forward to more.
The premise is funny and makes for an unpredictable, maybe, situation. Not sure how a person as controllaholic as her is ever promoted to managing people or considered for future promotion … but I clearly get how she needs to control. Not sure her fiance being talked out of marrying her and pushed into changing his character is a nice thing to do. I totally anticipated and enjoyed the whole issues with the name swap… but not her reaction when it is revealed. But, it was needed for Logan to get what he, as the real hero, really wanted.
Fun read!
This was such a fun read!
Lame!!! The book was supposed about a girl that needed a guy with the same name as her ex fiancée and she leaves her work problems to a honeymoon. Nevertheless most of the book was about a girl that was complaining about her life, her job, her choices, and her problems with other people. The actual trip was a small portion of the book. I do not want to spoil the book, but the main plot was the girl COMPLAINING. The friends were cute and nice. The book is not a comedy, I did not laugh at all. The characters got lost in their minds. I cannot recommend this book….it was lame!
This was the perfect book to read during a pandemic since its heroine goes on a trip to London and Paris, so I felt like I was tagging along on her vacation and getting to see all of the sights. But I’m getting ahead of myself. Before Holly can go on this amazing European getaway she needs to find a guy to be her plus-one. You see, this vacay was supposed to be Holly’s honeymoon, but her fiancé broke off their engagement.
Although Holly wants to forget the trip and stay focused on her job where she’s up for a promotion, her boss and friends all insist she needs a break. Her BFF suggests Holly hold a contest via the local news station to find a guy with the same name as her ex to go with her on the vacation. Holly hates the idea, but eventually gets into the spirit of things when she virtually meets the finalists, one of whom is a total hottie. Could this guy be her soul mate, or is she overlooking someone a little closer to home? And what happens when she decides to take a leap of faith and go on this trip with an almost-stranger?
This book isn’t so much about Holly finding love, but about finding herself and what will make her happy. I enjoyed getting to know Holly and her friends so much and look forward to seeing them again in the upcoming sequel, Just a Girl, which will focus on Holly’s bestie, Quinn.
Such lovely witty banter and great laughs! I enjoyed the camaraderie of Holly’s friends. Both love and work have new possibilities for our heroine.
I listened to the audiobook and think the narrator’s voice helped me get into Holly’s head because she wouldn’t have sounded the same in my imagination. Because the book is from Holly’s point of view you ‘hear’ everything Holly’s thinking, which sometimes felt as if I were in a hyperactive person’s brain (Holly thinks about EVERYTHING), and lots of times it was hilarious.
Holly is a workaholic who never uses her vacation days, which I can’t relate to at all. Se works at a bank so she gets all the federal holidays off with pay, but who thinks those are a substitute for a real vacation? Well, Holly does. Now her supervisor’s basically forcing her to take a vacation. Her friends tell her to go on the trip to Europe that was supposed to be her honeymoon, until her fiancé broke up with her three months before the wedding. There’s a slight problem–she has to find a guy with the same name as her ex-fiancé so he can use the other ticket. The search is on for a Nate Jones. Will Holly be able to go on this forced vacation and not try to manage her team via long distance?
Not only was Holly a workaholic, but she seemed to be a micro-manager too–she plans out everything! She’s constantly worried about her team’s performance and how it will affect her upcoming promotion, but she doesn’t really know how to motivate them. I did love her group of friends and how they supported her. I liked when her ex-fiancé’s best friend joined her in the middle of her vacation, and helped her learn to slow down, relax and enjoy the little things. Not everything has to be planned and scheduled.
There are some mild words and the first letter of a few others.
A sweet, funny chick-lit with a wonderful romance. This story had me hunting for the sequel the minute I finished it. Can’t wait until it is available! In the meantime, this book is one to enjoy!
