I received an ARC of this book and this is my voluntarily, honest review of it.
‘Just a kiss’ is the fourth book in the ‘Angel Sands’ series (Angel Sands is a small beach town in California). If you have read the previous books in this series, you will recognize quite a few names and people in this story. And you will be happy to know that this story has Lucas and Ember’s wedding in it!! But if you haven’t read any of the books in this series, don’t worry, you can perfectly read this story without having to read the other ones first.
I have read all the books in the ‘Angel Sands’ series and I have enjoyed them all very much. So I was very looking forward to the next book in this series but ‘Just a kiss’ is extra special because it’s also has a Christmas theme in it and being a big fan of Christmas stories, I couldn’t wait to read it.
This story may not have snow in it, but believe me when I tell you that it has ALL the feel of Christmas in it!! It’s definitely a Christmas story!
I enjoyed this story very much. It’s told from both POV’s. I liked the main characters, Caitie and Breck very much. They were goodhearted, intelligent, patient and lovely people and I loved the chemistry between them. But just like every human, they weren’t perfect. Both had experience a dramatic event in their youth and both were still suffering from it, each in their own way. But if they want to build a relationship with each other, they have to face their fear and learn that running away from is, isn’t the best way to deal with it. But don’t worry! This isn’t a dark story. No! ‘Just a kiss’ is a sweet, light, easy-to-read story about friendship, family, hope, Christmas but especially about love.
Carrie Elks is my favourite go to author , I’ve loved all of her previous books and I was lucky to receive an ARC of this copy . It didn’t disappoint. Her style of writing makes it really easy to connect with the characters she’s portraying and they’re always easy to relate to. You reconnect with characters from the previous books in the series and the banter between the friends and siblings is amusing. What I love is that it doesn’t matter if you pick this up not having read any of the earlier books , It can be read as a standalone. Caitie is home for her brother Lucas engagement party to Ember. As a celebration planner she gets roped into helping plan their Christmas wedding. She reconnects with Breck , A best friend of her brother’s, who she hasn’t seen in years. The attraction is palpable and their chemistry sizzles but everyone knows the Bro Code. Harper is Caitie best friend and their interactions and verbal sparring was fun to read. This book had all the feels. It was like a rollercoaster ride of emotions right the way through. This is an ultimately uplifting read and I thoroughly recommend it. This has put a smile on my face when I was feeling down .
This was such a great addition to the series. Caitie and Brecken both suffer from trauma in the younger years that is still affecting them in adulthood. Both need to deal with their issues in order to move forward with living. Loved this story!
This book was so sweet. Breck was in town working on a project for his family and went to a party where he saw a beautiful girl that happened to be the sister of his best friend. They kept connecting or misconnecting as a new female acquaitance kept flirting with him and trying to be his girl. Lots of misunderstandings. A side story that was heartbreaking was Ember’s fear of water. It was very severe but she had kept it from everyone. Add to it Brecks hate of Christmas and Ember’s job of decorating for Christmas – a disaster in the making. Somehow it all works – with difficulty but it was worth it. The story was wonderful and I couldn’t put it down. The characters were so engaging and the town just drew you in.

This cute adorable book is perfect for that Christmas romance read. Cait’s brother is getting married with a Christmas theme and Cait’s doing the planning. The problem is Beck. He lost his mom around the holidays and his Scrooge vibes is making it difficult. Throw in Cait’s feelings and you have a lot of drama that needs to be ironed out between her and Beck. Will these two get their communication together and open up about how they really feel about each other?
