A Hollywood princess mixing business and pleasure with her hot new bodyguard is a headline I’ll gladly live up to. Stella The only thing worse than a messy breakup, is a very public messy breakup. After the fallout I made myself a promise— no more dating. The moment my new bodyguard walks through the door, I know I’m going to break that vow.Hudson is nothing like the men in the industry. He’s … nothing like the men in the industry.
He’s rugged and real. Too bad he doesn’t want to spend a second longer with me than he has to. I’m just a job to him.
But he could be my everything.
Hudson
I want nothing to do with the Hollywood limelight. I’ve survived enough without having my face plastered on gossip magazines.
It’s no way to live. But as long as I’m standing beside her, it’s my life. For now.
This job is temporary, a favor to my brother.
But longer we’re forced to be together, the harder it becomes to fight my feelings for Stella. The real her. Not the person the rest of the world sees.
When she makes me an offer to be with her— no strings, how can I say no?

Man, I had a hard time putting this book down. It’s a full length novel that hooks you in until you’re done. I didn’t even notice how long it was because the sorry just keeps flowing and it got me so engrossed I lost track of time. Stella and Hudson meet at just the right time and they end up mending their broken hearts. Their relationship started as professional but it their chemistry was so electric that everyone could see it was only a matter of time before they gave in to their attraction. I love the side characters as well and now I’m hooked on this town and the rest of the stories to come.
I love the boys of Blue Beech! Charity Ferrell has an amazing world in Blue Beech!
Hudson and Stella my be the first couple in the series by they are my last to read. Stella is a Hollywood actress and Hudson’s brother Dallas is her bodyguard and has to return home because of a family emergency. Hudson is back home after being deployed and Dallas send him to replace him in guarding Stella. And Hudson had no idea what would be waiting for him when he goes. Hudson is broken when he goes but the Hollywood Princess
The tension in this book just jumps off the page and kept me needing more. I couldn’t get enough of these two. The broody military man, and Hollywood diva, that’s not such a diva. The push, pull between these two is absolutely amazing!
Charity Ferrell delivers an amazingly angsty, fun, steamy romance that left me wanting more. Hudson is the perfect example as to why I love the guys of Blue Beech. Everything about this book was perfect! The plot, the writing, the characters. She doesn’t just give is great main characters her side characters are amazing and help make the book what it is!
I love Stella, Hudson and everyone in Blue Beech! I can’t wait to see what Ferrell will give us next!
Stella is a celebrity from a tv show. She needs a new bodyguard and is dealing with a messy breakup in the media. Hudson ends up taking the bodyguard job as a favor to his brother. When these two meet sparks fly between them. Hudson has no desire to be famous but he can’t help falling for the real Stella away from the glamour of stardom. Stella just wants peace and is falling for Hudson in a big way. Will the couple be able to handle all the twists and turns involving celebrity life? A great read.
What a great story! Husdon and Stella’s story was so cute! I loved how I connected with the characters! The story flowed and was well written!
I loved the organic romance to this story! It was so different to the other Blue Beech stories, not that I loved those any less, but I just loved how Hudson and Stella fell in love.
I’ve read the Blue Beech series completely out of order, (which can be done – they are standalone’s in their own right) and of course I’ve left the very first one for last. I wasn’t sure how to feel about Hudson or Stella after reading the others, but after reading Just Her Bodyguard, I LOVE these two!!
I now have a different sense of Dallas, Willow, and the of loss how they all felt when Lucy died, but from the POV of Hudson, who is this big stoic man, but also very sensitive (which was something I didn’t get when I read the other books, but oh…sigh…he has a soft center under all those muscles). He is an absolutely amazing man and WOW, just wow. Loved him as a leading guy.
Stella Mendes, as a leading lady, is bold, asks for what she wants, and doesn’t shy away, exactly what Hudson needs. Aside from all the sizzling chemistry, one of my favorite moments is when Hudson and Stella have a conversation about her forwardness, and I admire the directness of how Stella handles it. What normally could have come across as a moment that seemed almost bitchy because Hudson is questioning her directness, instead Stella explains herself as a woman who doesn’t shy away from her sexuality and is unashamed about what she wants. It is empowering and more women should take notes on these moments. I mentally gave Stella a high-five.
As for the main plot, they each have their own personal issues to get over, but their attraction if off the charts and once they decide to let their own issues go, their chemistry just can’t be denied. Again, these two ignite the pages! The story revolves around Stella’s career mostly and Hudson needing to be back in Iowa, but beyond that it’s probably the tamest of Ferrell’s Blue Beech storylines, which was also probably why the love sprang off the pages.
This is very close to one of my favorite Blue Beech novels!!
This is the second book I have read from this author, but the first in this series. This is Hudson and Stella’s story. Hudson takes over bodyguard duties for his brother to get away from his small town after his fiance cheated on him with his best friend. Stella is a t.v. star trying to break into movies. He thinks she is a stick up diva, but nothing is as the media perseves. As they get to know each other feelings start to develop but obstacles get in the way. I love the storyline and the characters. Just like the other books Charity had me laughing and crying. There is just something about small town boys that have me swooning and OMG the sex btwn these two are HOT.
Just her Bodyguard was the perfect blend of Sexy and Heartwarming! I love Charity Ferrell and her ability to steal your Heart! This is book one of her Blue Beech series and it will grip you! Hudson Barns is a one in a kind, kind of man! Oh, the things I would do to him… sorry I mean for him (Wink Wink) He comes home to the most f****D up situation imaginable! And the horrible thing is, S*** like this happens all the time to soldiers! My heart bled for him! I would cut that B**** for him!! GRRRR!!! He needs to get out of Blue Beech for a bit, get some much-needed space, clear his head, let things die down. He decides to take a temporary job as the Bodyguard for Stella Mendes and Q the fireworks! Stella is everything Hudson didn’t know he needed! The sexual tension between these two is so thick and suffocating it’s a miracle I didn’t get pregnant! These two have so many things to overcome and they have to fight hard, but it’s such a beautiful love story! The angst is high and so unexpected! I got so caught up in this book my emotions tied with the characters! To me, that’s the best kind of story. Just her bodyguard was very relatable and realistic, Read it! Take a chance and fall in love with these characters! I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
The first of the Blue Beech series, and it starts off with Hudson doing a favor for his brother, Dallas. Dallas’ wife is fighting cancer, so he had to find someone to take over his movie star client. Hudson, having just gotten back from deployment and finding that his life is not going the way he had planned, decides that maybe this is what he needed. To get back out of Blue Beech and figure out his next step, all while getting paid. What he doesn’t count on is being attracted to Stella. They both have reasons why they should stay apart, but what happens when they stop fighting?
I really enjoyed Hudson and Stella’s story! This had loads of drama but it was done in a way that wasn’t over the top and kept you entertained. I give this 4 stars.
Stella just might be one of my favorite female characters, she was so much fun. Stella has been a part of Hollywood most of her life. It started with her mother forcing her into commercials but when she finally landed a part she enjoyed, she fell in love with acting too. Stella has a rough family life with a father who is never around and a mother who is only around for the money but she still has a very positive attitude about life. Despite being a Hollywood star, she isn’t a spoiled princess and she genuinely cares for people. Hudson becomes her bodyguard and they are obviously attracted to each other. Hudson just got out of a long relationship that hurt him deeply so he was not open to any kind of romance with Stella. Stella is very obvious with her flirting and eventually they do hook up. Stella had to get Hudson to see that she is not the person he thinks she is. Hudson had to learn to trust and open himself up to fall again. It was so beautiful to watch Stella and Hudson fall in love, every moment they shared was real and sexy and they had incredible banter that made you feel their love for each other. Unfortunately, Stella and Hudson had quite a few people causing problems in their relationship. True love conquers all, and what Stella and Hudson have is true love. I am also very glad that I am reading this after the series is finished so I can jump right into Willow’s book.
A slow beginning but overall a great story from start to finish. What really drew me in was the drama promised and absolutely delivered throughout the story, especially at the ending. That along with the romance made the book difficult to put down.
I wasn’t super into it at the start of the book if I’m being honest. I mean, I really liked the premise with the betrayal of his friend and fiancée, the job to a presumably diva actress along with her own bad history of dating. When they did meet however I wasn’t feeling the chemistry and connection the story tried to convince me they had, this due to them getting past his first prejudices of her real quickly and them somehow always ending up only talking about sex. There were just lacking some more depth in the development I feel like. I did like both characters however and that’s probably what kept me invested in the story, and a really good thing that it did because it wasn’t long until I finally fell heads over heels into the romance.
When they finally got past the hurdle and admitted as well as committed to their feelings the romance got that depth and intrigue I sought. Throwing in the tragedy that happened to his brother the relationship and characters development worked out beautifully right into the big climatic conflict. This I both absolutely loved and hated at the same time. I loved the drama and heartbreak of it and really felt for the characters involved. What I hated however was the double standard of it all. She was supposed to give up both her home and career for him, while he gives up neither yet she’s was the one at fault in the whole mess? Admittedly it was a bit more to it, but essentially this is what it boiled down to no matter what he said.
I get his side of it all not wanting to be, as he put it “in the shadows”, but it really frustrated me that he could not see her side of it. What he was asking of her was what could not only ruin her career but also get her sued, and all she really was asking for was a bit more time to figure out a good solution, which if you ask me was neither a big ask or that unreasonable. But he couldn’t even give her that. It was all his way or no way. It annoyed me that she was put in blast for ruining the relationship when she was the only one willing the try to meet in the middle while he wasn’t willing to do anything.
As much as it annoyed me though, it also meant that I really cared about the characters and got really frustrated on her behalf which means that the story worked wonders. It also helped that Hudson later on had a bit of a redemption with an apology and willingness to compromise in the end. The book left me completely satisfied with the conclusion as well as fully anticipating the next book with the whole Dallas and Willow drama. A story well worth four stars that hopefully the next can live up to if not more.
4.5 “Hollywood” Stars
After falling in love with the Twisted Fox Series in the last few weeks, I needed to read more of Charity Ferrell’s back list novels. Just a Fling was a really good book that had me entertained all read long. After a slow start, the intrigue took flight and ultimately had my complete attention. The evolution of Stella and Hudson’s romance was so beautiful. The alpha bodyguard discovered that the sexy actress he worked for was so much more than the diva he assumed she was. They shared real moments that created a deeper connection between them. The sexy encounters between those two were SO HOT! Overall, this book was well rounded with humor, flirty banter and feelings! I’m now diving into book two of the Blue Beech Series, because that ending had me eager for Willow and Dallas’s story!
Just A Fling was more than a fling! I enjoyed this slow burn to insta-love romance! Loved Stella and Hudson, and the other characters as well!
This book was catchy from the first chapter. Loved the characters and their relationship was fun.

Hot bodyguard/starlet romance
Hudson is doing his brother a favor by filling in for him as bodyguard to Stella, a TV starlet hoping to move into movies. His original opinion of her as a spoiled Hollywood princess is quickly amended, but any possible relationship between them is immediately complicated by her contractual obligation to pretend to be in a relationship with her co-star from the movie she’s currently promoting.
As their friendship moves into FWB, the complications get pretty messy, and so do the attitudes. Hudson’s unyielding derision of her career decisions is at odds with his decision to pursue a relationship with her, making him come off as overbearing and unreasonable. It’s not as though he didn’t know what he was getting into from the beginning.
As a finished book, this one had so many grammar mistakes, continuity issues, and extra words that it clearly demanded an editor or at the very least a proofreader. Overall, the story is good and the characters are memorable. The set-up for the next book was intriguing.
Hudson returns from his tour of duty to find his fiancé with his best friend. To get Hudson out of town and away from his devastation, his brother has Hudson replace him as a bodyguard to an actress in Hollywood. Unable to say no to his brother, he goes. Unfortunately, this is the last job on earth Hudson wants, especially to a demanding diva.
Their first meeting doesn’t go well. Despite their insta- attraction, Hudson’s guard is up. He may be “All man hotness in appearances, but inside he’s distant, glowering, and humorless.” at least to her. Stella is gorgeous, but Hudson isn’t going to fall for it. He’s here for a job and nothing else.
Close quarters force these two to see the real that is buried underneath the façade. Hudson finds himself opening up and divulging information he hasn’t shared with anyone else.
“A connection this strong doesn’t just happen. We were pushed together to prove we’re capable of love, receiving and giving it, and to show us there’s a light at the end of the tunnel of our broken hearts. We’re two heart- broken souls looking out for one another.”
“That’s what I experienced with Stella. I fell for her and crashed into her waves before I realized I even stepped outside.”
But nothing good is ever easy and these two find that everything is going to stand in their way, including pride.
Just a Fling has a predictable story line, but it’s entertaining enough to keep you turning the pages. I enjoyed the characters and their banter. The characters had depth that made them likeable and kept me routing for them, despite some of their unlikeable choices. Overall, I enjoyed the story and am looking forward to the next book in the series.
I read an ARC of this book. My fair and honest review is voluntary.
