A young attorney tries her first case . . . and it’s Murder One in a legal thriller from the world’s #1 bestselling writer. Ruby Bozarth, a newcomer to Rosedale, Mississippi, is also fresh to the Mississippi Bar–and to the docket of Circuit Judge Baylor, who taps Ruby as defense counsel in a racially charged felony. The murder of a woman from one of the town’s oldest families has Rosedale’s … from one of the town’s oldest families has Rosedale’s upper crust howling for blood, and the prosecutor is counting on Ruby’s inexperience to help him deliver a swift conviction. Ruby’s client is a college football star who has returned home after a career-ending injury, and she is determined to build a defense that will stick. She finds help in unexpected quarters from Suzanne, a hard-charging attorney armed to the teeth, and Shorty, a diner cook who knows more than he lets on.
Boring and predictable.
James Patterson writes the best mysteries. You never know what twists and turns are going to take place. The characters were both interesting and tragic. And the reality of the setting made the story that much more engrossing.
This is a James Patterson book and as always he does not disappoint. It is an awesome book.
James Patterson has simply gone downhill since he started co-writing with other authors. His books are dull and boring. Do not buy his books anymore and once I was a BIG FAN.
So disappointed in trying to read this book. It is actually two stories in one. As a previous James Patterson fan this book was not riveting. In fact I did not bother with the second part. There are too many good books to read to waste time in a mediocor one
very unusual plot that comes together beautifully!!!!
A bit vanilla
This novel was, in my opinion, not James Patterson’s best effort. The story line was rather trite, the characters not memorable and the story rather slow-paced. My suggestion would be until there is some “special” promotion. The book in the hard cover version is not worth the price nor is the kindle version. So if, later, you can get it for $1.99 or something less, go for it.
A good read that keeps you interested. Characters not so impressive. Alex Cross books are much better. Patterson does make you anxious to see the out come!
Great read and I’m very hard to please. To say it held my attention is an understatement
A different kind of write for Patterson the stage is already set for trial two trials in the book and a new lawyer Ruby Bozarth is the lawyer of the defense. Very good book couldn’t put it down Hope to see more of Ruby and Suzanne Greene
Like all James Patterson’s books, it was a really good read, hard to put down.
I like legal thrillers.
Excellent book by one of my favorite authors. I could hardly put it down once I started it.
As usual a. Great Patterson , book.
Big Patterson fan, read almost all his works.
I had not read a John Grisham book in quiet awhile, but got the audio book from my library for a road trip. I can’t believe I waited so long to read one of his books again. I completely fell in love with this book. I started with the audio and finished reading on my kindle. It was such a good book. The characters were so easy to like and root for, but they were totally human and had their flaws. I found myself laughing out loud in places and wanting to scream “No, don’t do it,” in others. The lead character is a feisty lady who has definitely clawed her way to where she is as a lawyer. If you like good books, this is definitely the one for you! #Happy reading.
