I can remember where I was when Jurassic Park came out. I purchased it, in hard bound, for my vacation at Old Orchard Beach, Maine. I read it in two days; my husband read it in three! I don’t remember if I was in the ocean at all those two days, it is a blur! So different, so exciting! I still have it at home, one of those books you can read …
I have been a die-hard dinosaur lover since I was 3 years old. When the Jurassic Park movie came out, I was the happiest kid you had ever seen. It took me several years before I finally got my hands on a copy of the Jurassic Park book.
If you are a fan of science fiction, biology, and wonder, then this book is for you. Michael Crichton is the …
Original Jurassic that started it all. Crichton’s books all read like movies so easy to make the leap to film. Enough science and “theme” park details to make it so believable.
I’m a huge MIchael Crichton fan, and I have to say I think I enjoyed this book the most…maybe next to Sphere. I loved the short chapters. I started reading early in the afternoon and by night I kept telling myself, “I’ll just finish this chapter and then I’ll go to bed.” And before I knew it the sun had risen and I’d never slept. I enjoyed the …
I love anything written by Michael Crichton and this is one of my favorites. I also own the movie and have watched it many times including sequels.
This was just as entertaining as I’ve always heard! While it was at times a bit more gory that I would usually enjoy, I loved the underlying science and technology. I kept putting the book down to Google things and see how much was fiction and how much was fact – it’s just amazing how much detail went into making this book feel real.
By far one of my all time favorite stories, and the book is so much better than the movie. I have multiple copies of this book, one being a first edition. I also have many other of Crichton’s books, amazing stories all of them.
There isn’t a whole lot to say when something is as incredible as Michael Crichton’s Jurassic Park. I was completely enamored with the film growing up. I saw it maybe fifty times. I, therefore, took a keen interest in the novel.
Michael Crichton’s Jurassic Park is a good ride. It’s original, striking, and just as iconic as the film. It is a …
This is my all time favorite book. It is so well written and the character development is amazing.
I loved this book. The story is scary, action-packed, and kept me reading. Throughout the beginning and middle, there were a lot of similarities to the movie, but the entire last portion of the book was completely different, in a good way. Much like my opinion of Stephen King’s IT and its 2017 film, I enjoyed both the book and movie here, …
You’ve seen the movie; the book is still better!
I was the kid who talked about dinosaurs all the time, so it shouldn’t surprise anyone that I liked this book. However, it was the originality I liked the most. Crichton took cutting edge science and used it to create a monster, both literally (did you catch my play on words there?) and figuratively.
I’ve seen this film a million times, and the tension and suspense in the book far exceeds that in the film, a feat I wouldn’t have imagined possible. Once again, Crichton has shared an incredibly intense thriller woven among the fibers of scientific possibility, which is the reason he is one of my favorite authors to date. See the movie? …
Expected
When it was written it was cutting edge fiction, and Creighton, as a medical Doctor knew his biology, and referenced it in his fiction. It served as a starter for the movie series and was better than the movie. You won’t go wrong with this book. It was written after Creighton learned how to end stories.
There’s a mysterious project on an island off the coast of Coast Rica. When John Hammond, the owner, invites Drs. Alan Grant, Ellie Sattler, and Ian Malcolm to visit the island, they discover that Hammond has cloned dinosaurs and intends to open his park for tourists to enjoy. However, despite the high security measures that are in place, the …
One of my favorite science-fiction novels, the original Jurassic Park is darker than the film version. The movie changes quite a few characters, with the most severe changes being Hammond, but I think the overall theme remains and is well execute in this exploration of the question of whether or not we should use technology just because we can. …
Loved the story and followed it through the entire series. Wonderful story.
Well written and holds your attention.
As usual this is a book that’s even better than the movie. There’s even more edge-of-your-seat scenarios that aren’t in the film and it makes reading it a real treat. I love how much more technical the book is too.
